It was the loud cheers angle that I thought noteworthy something notably absent from the Mail's report.

There are other members of the Royal Family.

The King and Queen, Anne, Edward and Sophie were at the garden party. William was travelling to Cornwall. Who else is there?

I suppose he could have invited the Kents and Gloucesters? (And perhaps he did -- I doubt that the status of their invitation is newsworthy.)

43percentClaw · 08/05/2024 19:43

I’d be interested in a proper discussion.

With someone who doesn’t yap on about haters, don’t yell about links and sources and who answers questions asked of them.

And for the ill advised? The RF do have the respect of many, many veterans and serving personnel.

The only two who are not thought of kindly (being polite here) are the two obvious suspects.

They are spoken about with scorn and derision. One considerably more than the other.

I frequent this board and just scroll past the usual suspects, largely because there's no discussion to be had with people who clearly aren't up for one, refuse to back up their assertions and just bang on about haters/vitriol/oooh you're all obsessed (whatever the phrase du jour is) with the leaden monotony of a Salvation Army drum.

AssignedUnimportantAtBirth · 08/05/2024 19:46

Well I'm glad that Harry received a cheery reception, if that's the case. Just goes to show that his presence alone is quite enough for the occasion. If the working RF has also attended, there would simply be reporting about who got the louder cheers. And if it was the female members, it would have been about what they were wearing.

Absolutely.

You can hear cheers and booing on the video of this.

I guess the same if Meghan had been there.

Yes, a proper discussion would be nice.
I think it's interesting what you say about the military personnel and how they view the unofficial royals. I suspect if you have served in the military then you would respect integrity, honesty and decency.

Mylovelygreendress · 08/05/2024 19:55

Apparently he had Netflix cameras with him .

The press can only report on what they see in front of them! Don't make me laugh!

Serioisly?

Er, no they don’t actually. They make things up all the time. And spin stories and exaggerate.

Especially if the story is about H & M. There seems to be a slightly protective bubble around the main players but they do it to all members of the RF.

So please don’t make me laugh.

And they're not alone in that, are they?

It also gives most an unerring ability to recognise a self serving angry twit when they see one.

Anyone who would queue up to boo someone they don't know needs their head testing and as such can be discounted.

IsoldeWagner · 08/05/2024 20:09

People often boo those they don't know, like at sporting events. In fact, it would be a bit strange to boo friends and acquaintances.

Those in the services have a pretty dim view of Harry

Not all of them I assure you.

Does that logic apply to turning up to cheer, or just if you want to boo?

It is also my ooonion that booing is unnecessary. However, I doubt anyone queued up to boo, but even if they did, if that is how they wish to express themselves then they are entitled to do so. It is a tad patronising to say they should be “discounted”

I'm not sure booing is the gotcha that some think it is. I can only assume die hard Royalists would do that and it makes them look unhinged which is not a good look.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/05/2024 20:16

Booing seems rather less unhinged than turning up in a yellow sweatshirt emblazoned with NOT MY KING and yelling that during royal events, if you ask me.

Cheering is a positive, uplifting expression of emotion and to be welcomed in most circumstances. Booing belongs in pantomime or medieval executions. IMHO !
