@IsoldeWagner They do. They make their own living.

I just wish the media would stop reporting on him. H walks into St Paul's, I mean so what.

Before anyone jumps on me yes yes feature IG. Just less of their tedious patron, they don't need him and his dramas.

The royal reporters are desperate for any kind of news. The most glamorous royal hasn't been and won't be seen for months and there are no big royal events coming up. They were spoiled with all the big stories and events over the past few years, but it's slim pickings for them now.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/05/2024 17:46

If Cleverley's bid was successful and Invictus was brought to England, would members of the Royal Family even attend? Or would they discover a convenient diary clash?

Who can say, @SluggyMuggy? Maybe it would depend on relations at the time and if they felt it likely that Harry would welcome them attending, but if it comes to the UK time will tell

And yes, @Abouttimeforanamechange, as you rightly pointed out the British Legion's another one the RF support

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 17:06

So you agree the Royal Family are boycotting Invictus as part of their boycott of Harry?
Time to get professional Heads of State in like Ireland. If I behaved like this in my job I would be sacked.

For someone who claims not to be defending Harry you are doing a pretty good impression, and stop with the silly boycotting nonsense, for all you know the Royals might not have even been invited.

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 17:49

@Puzzledandpissedoff why would it depend on their relationship with Harry?
Does no one know how to behave professionally?

AssignedUnimportantAtBirth · 08/05/2024 17:51

Why do more royals need to be there? Isn't Harry good enough?

Yes, nice way to make money - selling privacy and purveying lies.

Harry is not a working member of the Royal Family.

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 17:54

Harry is involved in Invictus in a personal capacity.

No, he works for the Sussex non official branch.

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 17:55

@IsoldeWagner grow up.

He doesn't, that's true. However, once you decide to take money for betraying your family "professionalism" in any sense has gone.
Harry needs to show that he can be trustworthy and professional, but it'll take some work.

IsoldeWagner · 08/05/2024 17:57

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 17:55

Oh personal insults!
Quality discussion there 🙄

AssignedUnimportantAtBirth · 08/05/2024 17:58

Why does a working member of the RF have to be there? Plenty of none working royals are patrons of good causes/charities, hold events, and don't need a working member of the RF present.

AssignedUnimportantAtBirth · 08/05/2024 17:59

What other events headed up by Harry and Meghan need to include a working royal family member because they are not good enough on their own?

Thedom · 08/05/2024 18:00

H&M would hate to be eclipsed by any of his close Royal family members, which is what would happen if Charles and William attended any invictus games, and there is no way Catherine would be welcome, because she definitely would eclipse all of them.

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 18:01

@AssignedUnimportantAtBirth Because it is supporting veterans. The Royal Family have traditionally gone out of their way to appear at any services for veterans.
Because Cleverly is spearheading a bid to have Invictus in England. The Royal Family are supposed to offer soft diplomacy. Their boycott may make Invictus think its not worth the hassle of hosting Invictus in England if the Royal Family are going to continue to boycott any events.

MrsFinkelstein · 08/05/2024 18:03

@SluggyMuggy can you give a link to where the RF (current working Royals) were invited to this event and they chose to "boycott" it?

How can someone boycott an event they were never invited to?

BigWillyLittleTodger · 08/05/2024 18:03

I always find it amusing so called republicans get so very cross when royals don’t do what they think they should, by default they should be delighted that no members of the RF have attended the ceremony, proving their point that they are a waste of space and charities etc can function perfectly well without them and that an elected head of state would do it so much better.

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 18:05

@MrsFinkelstein can you give me a link to show they were not invited?

Can you give us a link that shows they were?

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 18:05

@MrsFinkelstein can you give me a link to show they were not invited?

Why should she? you were the one claiming the royals have boycotted the ceremony and Harry, it’s up to you to do the heavy lifting here.

AssignedUnimportantAtBirth · 08/05/2024 18:08

The royal family support veterans all the time. What makes Invictus more special/worthy than Help The Heroes or the British Legion?

This event is a service, not a bid. The UK has hosted Invictus before, since it was founded here and set up by Brits and run by Brits who know what the UK can offer because they are knowledgeable about UK infrastructure and funding models. So what sort of persuasion would be added by selling Britain to British founded and run Invictus by adding in working royals? What knowledge and input would they have over and above Harry? Surely it is people from the potential host city who are the key people here - namely officials from Birmingham. Who ran a very successful Commonwealth Games last year, so am sure they can handle Invictus, which if on a far smaller scale.

What soft diplomacy are the RF adding that isn't already there through the host city officials and the MP involved?

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 18:05

@MrsFinkelstein can you give me a link to show they were not invited?

If they had been invited and refused we would have known, Harry would make sure of it, Scobie would have been tweeting furiously, it would sit perfectly into Harry’s victim mentality that they were invited but said no, fabulous victim headlines for him.
