William Threatened Tatler and Camilla's niece help plant story

In the audio, the journo explains what happened when she referred to Kate as being thin.
William rang Tatler and The Daily Mail, arranged lunch with them and his staff to plant stories.
Camilla's niece who works at Tatler helped him twisted the true position to be favourable to William and Kate.

She says no British print media is allowed to say anything negative about Kate or William. The negative stories must be about Harry and Meghan.

I'm pretty sure that, during the hilarity over South Park and the Worldwide Privacy Tour, the Sussex supportive posters were claiming that they never wanted privacy and South Park got it all wrong. It's pretty clear that both the Sussexes and their supporters are conflating intrusion with criticism of behaviour. But then that's always been Harry's problem. He was always more outraged that his "private" (which half the time weren't anything of the sort) activities were scrutinised and left him open to criticism, rather than genuine regret about what he'd been up to.

Press intrusion?! They live for publicity!
Good grief, I know more about them than I really wanted to, and a good deal more.
This pair just have to be in the press. It's a constant scrabble for the pictures and the clicks.

Press intrusion?! They live for publicity!

Surely you can see the difference between press Intrusion which can involve stalking, phone hacking etc and promoting yourself and any business on your terms aren't even the same?
They're not comparable.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 28/04/2024 16:24

Phone hacking isn't a practice in this day and age. Stalking? Meghan had to parade herself in front of the Daily Mail offices wearing wellies to get anyone to notice her. We have stringent rules on privacy enshrined by human rights law. Royal children are off limits outside the parameters set by their parents. Meghan lived her pre-royal life on social media, courting self publicity in all her endeavors, including her private life. Promoting yourself invites scrutiny and criticism where it's deserved. They want the publicity without the scrutiny and certainly without the criticism.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/04/2024 16:38

Their plan, clearly set out in their own words, was give up receive "funding through the Sovereign Grant, thereby making them members of the Royal Family with financial independence” (the Sovereign Grant provided 5% of their funding needs, the other 95% coming from then-Prince Charles). Their intention therefore was to still be bankrolled by Prince Charles, but no longer be subject to the Nolan rules, which prohibit them from benefitting financially from their position

It's that 5% from the Sovereign Grant/95% from Charles which interests me, though of course Charles was supposedly using the Duchy or Cornwall money for this and that's now controlled by William

Doubtless H&M considered the loss of the 5% a small price to pay for "financial freedom", and as you say expected Charles to keep subbing them, but what's happening now the Duchy's been passed over is anyone's guess

For all Harry's claims about being "cut off" I wouldn't want to assume Charles isn't still paying, even if it's from the Duchy of Lancaster now

No, I'm not -
They love the press and have shared a lot.
What they can't cope with is the press criticising them.

Nono22972 · 28/04/2024 17:03

I think it's so sad how so many people have such strong reactions towards Meghan when it is clear that the rift between Harry and his family happened before Meghan

Per his own words, he and William weren't really that close since Diana (which is why I don't understand why so many of his supporters are mad that Kate didn't get close to Meghan).

I do feel bad for Kate and Meghan. Some of the press and the supporters made them the scapegoats of this family rift

It’s an allusion to this article and the photo taken of Meghan on one of her trips to London to visit Harry before they were engaged. She donned wellies (not at all her usual style!) and carried a bag with a message to walk the 400m or so from his cottage at Kensington palace to Whole Foods.

Her route took her past the Daily Mail offices on Kensington High Street. Allegedly she walked up and down in front of their offices a few times to ensure she was noticed , and they sent a photographer out to take her picture.

Prince Harry's girlfriend Meghan Markle spotted in London

The actress was seen after a shopping trip to the Whole Foods store on Kensington High Street. She is staying with Harry at his nearby bijou Kensington Palace home, Nottingham Cottage.

Some of you anti Sussexes posters spend an inordinate amount of time criticising and hating on this ‘irrelevant’ couple .
I don’t come on these RF very often but when I do I am shocked by the number of threads started by the detractors of this ‘irrelevant’ couple. Meghan should have her own section separate from the Royals
Some of you need to give yourself a shake.

Serenster · 28/04/2024 17:22

(By the way, an interesting hint that the gossip might be true is that the photos of Meghan in the wellies in that article are uncredited. There are lots and lots of still photos in the article - all of which are credited to a source. But not the two of Meghan on Kensington High Street. Which is suggests that it was the staff of the Mail itself who took the pictures, and so they of course had no need to pay a photo agency for them…)

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 28/04/2024 17:23

Oh look, we're back to 'hate.'

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 28/04/2024 17:24

That picture always makes me laugh. I assume she was trying to break her brand new wellies in, rather than that she thought wellies were needed to walk down Kensington High Street, which has proper pavement and very little by way of deep mud.

Yes, it's funny how criticism of some people is "hate", yet for others it's valid.

These threads are just utterly bonkers 😁
I mean - she can't even wear wellies without it being some great big conspiracy theory worthy of gossip 😕😂

Gosh, you’d have been beside yourself if you’d come on these threads in January and February this year and seen all the threads started by detractors of the Waleses, then! 🤣

(oh wait, you did…)

Will not stop bloody raining here, wellies would come in handy actually lol

But if it was planned, that’s worthy of note, surely? I mean it would be terrible if you went to the effort of burying a brand new pair of wellies and bag for life specifically to be photographed and no-one noticed! You’d be gutted! 🤣

Serenster · 28/04/2024 17:30

After all, there’s only one thing worse than being talked about as the new girlfriend of a Prince of Great Britain and Northern Ireland …and that’s not being talked about as the new girlfriend of a Prince of Great Britain and Northern Ireland…

You would! Especially with a brand new tote bag with a worthy message.

If that story is true, it’s actually comedy gold. Like something out of a Monty Python sketch 😂. Unfortunately, the sense of humour failure strikes again and everyone must be a hater if they laugh 🤷‍♀️

Was that the time Meghan went in the public entrance to KP rather than the private one where she would have been able to avoid those pesky photographers?

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 28/04/2024 17:50

Yes @Mylovelygreendress . And while those who would prefer we didn't point out MM's hypocrisy can do their own frothing, we'll carry on discussing the fact that she (and they, thank you blue dodger Harry) very much enjoy invading their on privacy, and have from the get go. And far from being irrelevant, the same pair are doing their best through the Aspen Institute and their activities apparently in the name of mental health to bring about the censorship of their critics and people who do not think like them. Oh that it was just mindless gossip. It is demonstrative of a pattern of behaviour that has created a media narrative they sought out and fed, which is now being used against the media and the rest of us and our rights to freedom of speech. And if you think that's over the top, you are very poorly informed.

Serenster · 28/04/2024 17:59

Also confirming it’s true the Mail article shows Meghan walking into the public road which leads up to Kensington palace (it has red brick gateposts topped with lions), rather than choosing the guarded entrance shown below. Coming from Whole Foods, she would have had to walk past the guarded entrance to get to the entrance she was photographed walking into.

Thedom · 28/04/2024 18:02

Yes, I think so @Mylovelygreendress, she used the main gate to KP rather than the private one used by the family.

Apparently, the photos were to prove she was in London and staying with Harry, the baseball cap she wore was Harry's and one he had been photographed in numerous times.

A master stroke in PR 🤔
