William Threatened Tatler and Camilla's niece help plant story

In the audio, the journo explains what happened when she referred to Kate as being thin.
William rang Tatler and The Daily Mail, arranged lunch with them and his staff to plant stories.
Camilla's niece who works at Tatler helped him twisted the true position to be favourable to William and Kate.

She says no British print media is allowed to say anything negative about Kate or William. The negative stories must be about Harry and Meghan.

I tend agree also. The King was on the front of most papers yesterday - returning to his duties. Have quickly scanned the board and I don't see any comments about this. Are folk bothered at all. Yet there are 10 threads on Harry and Meghan. Why? They aren't Royalty anymore.

Because Harry is reality tv, from those worshipping at the altar to those who despise and people somewhere in the middle. He’s laid his privacy on the table and the book, interviews, Netflix will follow everything he does. It’s not like it’s going to end anytime soon with film crews back to following them around. I find Harry a middle aged walking contradiction who is still royalty until he gives up his titles.

Start a thread about the King if it interests you. I saw the headline, not controversial, not bad news, I just thought - good, he's on the mend.
Harry and Meghan need to stay in the press, need the clicks, that's why they keep promoting themselves.

Excellent post, @Nono22972 .
Very clear and measured points 👌

Distancing by harping om?
I've seen photos of the kids, including a special one of Princess Lilibet on her birthday, in the garden, and both on the Netflix films.
Prince and Princess.

Do you see their faces though?
I don't remember seeing faces in the Netflix series for example.
(, Admittedly I've not watched it for ages)

Does Mumsnet need the clicks as well. I don't need to start a thread about the King by the way but I'm surprised he's not the main focus on these boards. Why is Harry and Meghan the main focus? Are they more interesting perhaps?

Yes, obviously!

Thedom · 28/04/2024 09:02

Are they more interesting perhaps?

No, they are more risible and great for gossip.

Yes. You saw Archie when Meghan was reading a story to him. Also when he was in the bath. Also in his high chair. Princess Lilibet was photographed at her 1st birthday party and they released a picture of her sitting on the grass, looking at the camera. Both their faces.
I don't see anything wrong with that at all, but it's a stretch to say that the children's privacy is completely protected.

Gorgonemilezola · 28/04/2024 09:05

'Why is Harry and Meghan the main focus? Are they more interesting perhaps?'

They're the gift that keeps on giving though - it's not that they're more 'interesting' per se, but they behave in such a ludicrous manner you watch from behind your fingers waiting to see what they'll do next.

Not much to chat about with the rest of the rf because they just do their thing and don't make a song and dance about it. The King well enough to start public duties again - lovely, glad he's getting better, not much more to say really.

I’m not pro or anti Sussex or Wales.

It’s bullies I can’t stand.
Bullies killed my sister.
I hate bullies - both the online & in-person kind.

Same (about not really being pro either and hating bullies)

Sorry for the loss of your sister 💐

Gorgonemilezola · 28/04/2024 09:11

Those hating bullying (as I think most people do), what is your take on the Sussex Squad and the likes of Bouzy? The relentless hate and harassment towards Kate? Some of the commentary from that quarter is actually sick.

Icehockeyflowers · 28/04/2024 09:58

Using the words Sussex Squad and claiming you hate bullying? The irony.

Do you think Charles, William or Harry care what you think, care you are defending their honour, care whether you live or die? Seriously give your head a wobble and concern yourself with people who know about your existence. The royals don’t and if they did, they simply wouldn’t care whether you lived or died.

OneHeartySnail · 28/04/2024 10:01

What has that got to do with anything?

I enjoy discussing the shenanigans of some public figures, I don't do it in the expectation of a Damehood!

I am also interested to hear people’s views on this.
I agree that Harry and Meghan have had an awful time with the media and online stories. Some of them justified (Johnny Mercer) and some of them are just absolutely bat shit (the stuff about the kids and pregnancies is especially vile and sickening).
However, the Sussex Squad takes it to a whole new level of hate. I just don’t understand how anyone would want these people and bots to behave the way they do in their name. Especially when M&H rightly speak out against bullying and misinformation. The Sussex Squad are the masters of bullying and misinformation, yet not only do they not distance themselves from this, they associate with them. Bouzy, one of the leaders, appears in their Netflix documentary.
I don’t hate M&H. I admit to being critical of Harry and his shenanigans and I’m amused by the ARO stuff……But I hate the Sussex Squad’s behaviour and tactics. Because these people are truly unhinged and scary.

I have no idea what you're on about. The Sussex Squad are a vocal group of supporters of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They call themselves the Sussex Squad. The Duke and Duchess have publicly thanked the Sussex Squad, calling them that.

I'm not championing anyone - just interested in the thoughts of those accusing people of 'bullying', whether their concerns extend to the appalling online invective aimed at Kate, or if that's OK?

You seem a bit....... overwrought. And more than a bit rude.

ArcaneWireless · 28/04/2024 10:18

Well quite mummy

Are you sitting relaxing with a brew and a treat runner?

Or have you had your fill of cake?

I know some days it can get sickening.

ArcaneWireless · 28/04/2024 10:34

I don’t think it is about championing the RF either.

For me, I can’t stand liars.

I especially dislike liars who set out to damage others with their lies.

I deeply dislike bullies and liars when they backtrack and get caught out in their lies.

All the damage people do without even a second thought to their victims. It is all about them.

Their little victories. Their misplaced feelings of superiority. Their hurt feelings. Their resentment. Their spite. Their hate.

And they are so convinced of their truth that people believe them.

Even though living through that is its own little circle of hell, the only sparkle of light is when they show the world glimpses of who they really are. And then folk start to understand. And the truth comes out. In all its bitter, nasty glory.

Projection? Perhaps. But unless you endure something like that, you don’t know. Not really.

i don’t hate H&M but I do dislike them for acting like they have.

And funnily enough, they are being thought of with the same derision as my bully. And he was an object of ridicule too.

And still is.

Icehockeyflowers · 28/04/2024 10:48

But discuss people you don’t know, will never meet and who don’t know you. How can you ever say anything remotely informative or interesting about people you have never met. All you are doing is gossiping. Repeating things others have written or said, mainly made up stuff. Even when repeating whatever Harry said in his book (s?), it appears to have been decided that he wrote lies and only lies whereas third, fourth and fifth hand information is truth.

Why not, at least discuss something that might make a difference to people such as Andrew being with minors and his mother accepting it. This is the ilk of the family you like to gossip about. At least make a noise about illegal activities in the hope it can prevent other young girls being brave enough to
speak up. Gossip is just a reflection of empty minds and is not a positive attribute so why do it.

.

SuziQuinto · 28/04/2024 10:48

You're right, @ArcaneWireless - for me, it's the hypocrisy, the cries of freedom and privacy and the toxic family. Yet living a royal lifestyle with the wealth and the privilege and the titles, doing quasi royal engagements.
Plus, the lies, the manipulation and the deceit. Monetising it all.
The unsubstantiated accusations of racism, later retracted as such, but still in the air.
The children wouldn't be given titles because of racism, oh we don't want titles for them, oh, they're Prince and Princess.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 28/04/2024 10:50

You don't know them and they don't know you is a complete straw man argument. The vast majority of us don't know the vast majority of people in public life who are framing the societal narrative. This doesn't mean we shouldn't discuss their activities, especially when those activities undermine (or seek to) established institutions, and especially when those people seek to curtail free speech and create legal frameworks that effect us all. It's also fully within our rights to discuss anyone and anything seeking to cheapen and debase social interactions and create a social media sphere of influence that trickles down to the general public, in particular children. Frankly, if you choose to be in public life and seek to influence the public, then expect to be discussed. And expect to be told to sod off if you try to shut down that discussion.

SuziQuinto · 28/04/2024 10:50

@Icehockeyflowers - I never met Eleanor of Aquitaine, but I know a lot about her m I never met JFKennedy, but I know a lot about him.
It's not gossip if it's based on evidence, which has been provided on here time and time again.
Harry and Meghan's words and actions.
That is all.
