Couldn't resist opening it with this from the last thread 😁

Most of the negative headlines and journalists after stories are UK based…..but if you notice a story in the DM, The Sun etc and it gets a lot of traction- then the NY Post/page six picks it up (which is a very popular Tabloid in the US)

Meghan and Harry use page six all the time with ‘sources’ comments. Page six gets a lot of exclusives!

So they are attempting to influence the US Media by controlling the narrative here. Obviously doomed to fail

EdithWeston · 24/04/2024 17:24

The bulk of the negativity is of UK origin

I really don't think that's the case any more.

They don't do anything here, and so the UK press is commenting on US events, usually a bit after US press has done so.

The only remaining UK questions are his London-based court cases and whether/when he visits. I expect there will be UK originated stuff next month (Invictus)

The US press reports, pretty much in passing, on some of their appearances. Not all of them, and none of them in any depth. It’s always in the tabloid press (NY Post, Enquirer etc). To the extent there’s any commentary or opinion, it’s clickbait-style sensationalism, so either mocking (the New York car chase) or fawning over meghan’s clothes. They just don’t matter here that much, celeb-wise they’re small fry. In a world of P Diddy, the Kardashians, the A List Hollywood actors, B listers gone wrong (eg Lori Laughlin), Taylor Swift and Beyoncé etc, they’re just not noteworthy. It’s a crowded field! It’s literally a foreign prince, son of Diana, who’s proven himself a bit of an idiot and his arriviste wife who’s embarrassing herself but is still very easy on the eye.

That last sentence. I needed a laugh. Bless them they never learn…

The commenters on Page 6 & the NY Post hate H & M. One of them even donated $100.00 to Trussell Trust in honor of the commenters.

Wow - that's making a point!

I thought People magazine was their go-to for positive PR spin in the US.

Sometimes Newsweek or Page 6, too.

It was but in the last year there has been a big push with page six- I’m guessing WME?

As someone who has not followed the jam stuff very closely or posted on the thread I've just seen a picture showing Kris Jenner has also received a jar of the jam and it is once again displayed in a bowl of lemons...

As almost all the other pictures seem to also feature lemon (fuck knows what they have to do with strawberry jam but I digress). I'm left idly wondering does each jar of strawberry jam come with a free bowl of lemons?

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 25/04/2024 08:53

Chrissie Teigan, serial online bully who sent a teenager into thoughts of suicide, and Kris Jenner, a woman who helped launch her daughter’s vacuous brand with a sex tape. Meghan is choosing all the best people.

Vespanest · 25/04/2024 08:58

The thing with the Buckingham palace is if you scroll there is jam on the 30, 27, 25 March, I stopped there. They sell jam and they advertise jam, but you know this is going to be seen as them trolling

Hanging on their coattails don't you mean ? They may be vile but they are "successful" and influential, if what you consider to be success is being well known and always having your face on OK magazine. MM is clearly hoping if she stands close enough some of the shine will rub off.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 25/04/2024 09:07

I take your point @StiffyByngsDogBartholomew . However it doesn’t quite square with their work on online safety and bullying, so what’s their PR message here? What’s the strategy? The Kardashians have also spent years bullying (or trying to bully) Taylor Swift. And they are closely connected with PDiddy, which surely is an association they don’t need the public to be reminded of. Is there any joined up thinking? Or is it simply they are too dumb to be effective hypocrites?

MaturingCheeseball · 25/04/2024 09:26

I posted on another thread that I am really astonished at this new friendship endeavour with not-very-upmarket people. It’s not me who is the snob - it’s M&H with all their titles and coats of arms malarkey, so am surprised that they - or Meghan, anyway - are pursuing these types.

smilesy · 25/04/2024 09:48

There was an article in the Telegraph yesterday about Megan’s rebrand for the UK following her hiring a UK PR person. It’s behind a paywall and I’m rubbish at archiving (anyone else able to do this?) but the upshot was they asked several PR people what they would do and they all seemed to come up with things like sticK to one thing, work hard, have a bit of humility and accept constructive criticism, and grow a sense of humour. Here’s a few screenshots for a flavour

To be fair neither of them seems particularly intelligent unless engaged in activities focussed on number one. Harry definitely not and she seems to me the epitome of the modern Becky Sharp. However quick wit and outstanding ability for self preservation and promotion does not bring introspection. I doubt very much that she examines herself or her motives for anything. And if she does I don't think she finds anything wanting.

so she moves from one scheme to another to promote herself, completely lacking the self knowledge or awareness of why her schemes have failed. She just moves blithely to the next person she hopes will raise her up the social ladder. She managed to snag a malleable, stupid prince that wanted a way out and a foil for his self-absorption but she is now having difficultly turning that into international adoration and success. She is stuck halfway up the ladder.

if Harry is her Rawdon Crawley, with whom there are strong parallels, who will be her Jos sedley ?

That's one of my favourite books and I see what you mean!

But I can't think of a Jos for her - to parallel the book he would have to be in her life already. But perhaps as it's a tale without a hero, she won't need one?

Edited to add: I hope there will be no Lord Steyne, but if there was........

Abouttimeforanamechange · 25/04/2024 10:45

All qualities she would have needed in order to be a successful working Royal.

She managed to snag a malleable, stupid prince that wanted a way out and a foil for his self-absorption but she is now having difficultly turning that into international adoration and success.

She had probably reached her natural level with Suits and The Tig. She hasn't got what it takes to go any further, Harry is useless in that respect, and their 'brand' is so tarnished that probably no-one who matters will want anything to do with them.

Andylion · 25/04/2024 12:03

I see that Kris Jenner’s is the 13th jar. How many people so far have promoted it?

I'm sure there has been about 3 or 4 who have promoted it with the Lemons but possibly a few more who have not used lemons in their post but I don't think we're even up to double digits yet.

Thedom · 25/04/2024 12:35

Chrissy Teigen.

"The television star’s social media accounts have millions of devoted followers, and this contributes to much of her earnings. One sponsored post from Teigen could be worth around hundreds of thousand of dollars."

Kris Jenner.

"Kris is seen promoting holiday sales, fashion accessories, and clothes to her 51 million followers. It is estimated that she earns around $188,800 per post."

Sounds like it is more than likely all paid for promotions, I doubt they will be doing anything for free.

Surely the first rule of paid for promotion is to clearly feature the product you are shamelessly flogging ?
and don't even start on strawberry jam and bacon sandwiches 🤮
