“Not feeling comfortable with life in the US”

Jeezitneverends · 13/04/2024 21:09

I’ll begin by saying that initially When the Sussexes went to the US I genuinely wished good things for them, but since then I’m more “you wanted privacy so shut up”. Is this a case of be careful what you wish for?

Meghan Markle 'beginning to feel uncomfortable' with US life according to expert

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been living in their lavish home in Montecito, California, since 2020 but a Royal expert has claimed the Duchess is 'beginning to feel uncomfortable' with her new life.

It was a very awkward moment . So rude.
Not sure why Meghan had to be in the centre holding the trophy when she wasn’t a player .

Really, not sure why she had to put herself in the centre of things and holding a trophy she had no part in winning? Par for the course I would think.

It's irrelevant who the woman was she was bossing around in 'her' photo, she should not have done it.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 16/04/2024 13:34

@JudgeJ probably thought she would channel Di awarding Charles polo cups etc on more than one occasion

AliceOlive · 16/04/2024 13:43

Meghan presenting the trophy seems akin to being a suitcase girl, given that her only involvement in the event is as someone’s wife. It would have made more sense for the Sentebale director to present it and the team captain to accept it. Harry isn’t the captain, right? She’s pretty, got “all dolled up” to present it, flirted with one another in front of everyone.

Their interaction during the presentation would be sweet if they weren’t so aware of the cameras filming for Netflix. They are so willing to put intimate moments and private thoughts on display and up for sale. Meghan did that with the Tig, but in 2016 it was so common with Blogs. I think we’ve all grown tired of “Self as Subject” but they didn’t get the memo.

I’ve been pondering the reasons they get all this ratio for even minor or innocuous things. I think they are reaping what they’ve sown.

AliceOlive · 16/04/2024 13:46

I could be misjudging the captain thing. Maybe it’s the person that forms the team that accepts normally. It just looks like obvious self promotion though.

You have to wonder if Harry is tired of the Netflix deal yet. I doubt it was his dream to try and come up with content and can’t be fun given that he lacks any experience in the industry.

True, although I don't recall Diana telling people to move so she could be front and centre!
She certainly likes to channel other women, her Duchess of Windsor look on the Winfrey interview was another one.

Work is already drying up. Charles would probably take them back if they could no longer afford their LA lifestyle (after all Harry is still his son). But my god it would be a hard slog for the British public to forgive and forget, so it may be difficult for them to become working royals. A lot of bridges would need to be repaired but some may not be able to be mended.

I would be devastated if H & M returned to the UK in anything but a very private capacity where I didn't have to look at them or hear about them.

Apart from the bridge-burning they've done with the RF, they would never be allowed back into official life because they've proved themselves to be totally untrustworthy. The RF have to meet with military personnel, diplomatic staff, home and foreign politicians and heads of state etc etc. It's always been a given that any conversations with these people are confidential - but with H & M?? I don't think so. It's more than a 'redemption' thing - it would be an issue of national security.

Also, I don't suppose either of them is any more interested in the nitty-gritty royal duties of visiting unglam locations with very little (other than local) publicity. I'd hazard a guess that Meghan wouldn't want to do anything unless she could dress in 50K outfits and get photographed doing it.

Plus...Meghan wants to bore us with her awful word-salad speeches all the time, and royals aren't supposed to do that! Their speeches will be at least co-written and she would never be allowed just to spout her own stuff unregulated.

Their only motivation for wanting to pop back occasionally is to re-affirm their fading 'royal' status (but for me, they lost that when they went to the US - I do not buy the nauseating 'Duchess Meghan' stuff) and to pick up more supply for their self-publicity and material for further books, interviews and documentaries. The RF would be utterly mad to allow them back into the fold.

It would turn me into a republican!!! And that's saying something.

One option if they became full time working royals again is Charles controls their diaries, and they are only allowed to do bread butter royal engagements like opening schools, visiting folk in care homes etc (like the Gloucesters), and no hosting state visits or the like. If they kept their head down and gobs shut public opinion may change.

But like you say I dont think H&M ego could take being relegated to a status of minor royals.

EconomyClassRockstar · 16/04/2024 23:08

I'm sure this "royal expert" knows it all. They apparently always do, even if 9.9999 times out of 10, they are just made up lies that everyone is expected to forget were ever said. Isn't that right, DM?!

CombatLingerie · 16/04/2024 23:25

Is the Meghan making and selling jars of jam story a Joe Lycett joke thing? I read it on the BBC news website.

@Jeezitneverends ah thanks I wonder how much a jar of that is? 😂. They will need to sell a hell of a lot of jam to keep in manner to which accustomed!

The numbered jars show there are only 50 at the moment. So that is £500. Going to need some serious up scaling or several more 0’s on the price of a jar to make the money they need that way 😆

@FlatWhiteLover

I think what will be hardest to forgive is that they took £32 million pounds off a country in austerity measures to have a wedding they now say they didn’t want. They took money from a country they see as racist and backwards and are now bitching and moaning that it wasn’t enough.

I think most people will find that terribly hard to forgive. They took the money and them bounced out when it became clear how much was expected from them.

And then had the temerity to play the victim when their bad manners and entitlement was pointed out to them.

Why are you accusing your dear mother of lying? I'm confused!

Oh I dunno, it showcased the country beautifully, it was stunning day and I'm sure the free advertising brought in a lot of tourist dollar 💰 💵

Haha! I meant the Daily Mail!! My Mum wouldn't know how to lie, bless her.

LOL @ nitty gritty royal duties.

Comedic genius.

NoisySnail · 18/04/2024 10:22

Why are you complaining about the cost of Harry and Meghan's wedding? I thought people on here always said these events brought in so much money through tourism that it was a net benefit to the country?

My take on that is not willingness for the nation to bear the cost (and get economic benefit to some), but that they were ready to accept it and then complain that it wasn't what they really wanted. Which is pretty graceless whether it's the nation paying millions, or bride's parents paying thousands (with small businesses/suppliers making profits they might otherwise not have done).

NoisySnail · 18/04/2024 10:39

Maybe it is the truth? Lots of couples do not get the kind of wedding they wanted when the parents getting involved.

I knew perfectly well who you meant but get tired of the naive assumption among the MN population that only the DM peddles lies!

JudgeJ · 18/04/2024 10:45

I think she's now channelling Eva Peron, swanning around flaunting her wealth whilst pretending to care about the peasants that fall at her feet in adulation.

Maybe her new money-grabbing jam venture will morph into cake too then she can say 'Let them eat cake' thus adding Marie Antoinette to her many pseudo personae!

JudgeJ · 18/04/2024 10:47

Runnerinthenight · 14/04/2024 22:18

It's fucking genius!!

And yes, we do know Harry lied in Spare.

'Recollections may vary' must be one of the best new phrases of the 21st century, it allows one to make accusations of dishonesty without actually saying it! Marvellous.

Harry himself said they wanted Westminster Abbey or St Paul’s .
