american riviera orchard - what was that all about then?

It seems to have gone the same way as their Sussex Royal site. I don't know much about social media or PR, but this all seems pretty odd and ineffectual.

I agree that they seem like two embarrassing, work shy grifters who would sell any tat to make a dollar.

However, Harry has implied that either Charles or William's office fed negative stories about himself and Meghan to prevent stories about William or Andrew being published. If that's true, it woud change my view of them leaving the royal family. But, as usual, Harry hints but doesn't have the balls to name names.

I could see the point - but I can't think of any negative stories about H&M that were big enough to cover up a scandal about the 2 heirs to the Throne?

Meghan eats avocados? Meghan touches her bump? Meghan wears expensive clothes? Meghan made Catherine cry? Stupid stories about nothing.

The only significant story was that Meghan wore earrings gifted by MBS - after the Khashoggi scandal. But the story was she lied about the provenance of the earrings.

Can anyone think of stories about H&M that were juicy enough to stop the tabloids publishing huge stories about William & Charles?

Instead we see that the Palace put out several statements defending H&M (more than for any other Royals)

There weren't any bad stories put out by BP or KP. What nonsense they were protected. They just don't think they should get any negative stories at all. Plus, you can't trust anything they say.

JSMill · 04/04/2024 11:30

Tbh the negative stories about M were quite innocuous. The most damaging stories about her imho were about her father and his heart attack, which were absolutely true.

I think the conclusion was that no-one could show an example of a leak of this kind.

Well, there are "journalists" who've been prepared to go on record saying that the palace trade stories to suit, but IIRC a lot of this revolves around Jason Knauf, who blew the gaff on H&M's emails and lies to the court and was subsequently reemployed by W&K - something which the remaining supporters quote as "proof" that he was set up to target the couple and for which they've never forgiven him

Not knowing Knauf I couldn't say what his motivation was, but I'm not sure the narrative really works when (as we've once again been reminded) there are plenty of instances of the palace speaking up to defend H&M

As for which stories have been big enough to eclipse the rest of the family, the only ones which come to mind are those driven by the couple themselves - books, collaborations, interviews etc., and we can hardly blame the palace for those

Abouttimeforanamechange · 04/04/2024 12:02

in 2019 they were huge global stars. They literally had the world at their feet. They had a much cooler, more youthful and diverse fan base than stuffy old W&K and with a half-in, half-out deal keeping them firmly in the public eye for all the right reasons they would, to be fair, have been sitting pretty. Shame they fucked it up!

They were unfortunate that the world went into lockdown just at the time they were flouncing, and they were unable to get themselves out there in the public eye. But even the most casual observer could predict that the Queen would never agree to the half in, half out plan, where they would be perceived to be making money out of their royal status. Either Harry really is that dim, or he was totally blind to anything except 'what Meghan wants, Meghan gets'.

I don’t think there was many people who read that initial statement about half in half out, make their own money and collaborate with the queen and didn’t immediately think on reading , well that’s not going to happen. Even as outsiders we knew that was a total no go. How they thought they could make it fly by presenting the palace with a public fair accompli beats me.

but honestly. Everything they do, is a head scratcher. I really can’t recall anything where I thought, well that was a good idea, or that will work other than signing with Netflix and Spotify, but it became quickly apparent they lacked skill set and work ethic, so that was also a bad idea. The clubs anr the wedding and the Oprah interview set the tone, for what they thought was the money maker, and bloody hell they threw themselves into it with relish.

now they want to sell stuff. Which is fine when you have a second string to your bow, like acting like gwneth. But it looks like they fucked that as well.

i just wonder what they will do next.

JSMill · 04/04/2024 12:42

@JJathome I do wonder what they will do next. Tbh it would be best for the RF if they did thrive in California. If they were successful there, they'd probably stop looking back and feeling bitter and stop doing things like trying to upstage William.

It would I agree, but it’s becoming incredibly difficult to imagine how they are going to do this now with all these failed attempts behind them.
They are rapidly running out of avenues to explore that they haven’t already had a half arsed go at and abandoned.
And if it really does turn out Harry’s been handy with the burner phone, then that’s game over entirely

themessygarden · 04/04/2024 12:50

I think their habitual 'upstaging' is so entrenched in bitterness that no matter how successful they become, they will never move on.

Agree totally. But it’s been over 4 years. I personally think they simply lack the skill set . Neither of them have the skills to do any of this stuff they wished. Megan is simply an actress on one successful tv show, and Harry has limited skills to do anything also.

they seemed to think they can interview people, write books, manage staff, create content, and it’s becoming abundantly clear they lack the basic ability. And it takes skill to do it. Ones neither of them possess.

they keep trying new things, but the lack of ability and skillset, I think means they can’t turn it round. I honestly think there is no hope for them.

JaneJeffer · 04/04/2024 12:53

They could move to the Middle East. Seems they are very popular there.

Have I missed something? What’s all that about?

I don’t think it’s over entirely for them yet, Meghan will have her cooking show on Netflix and isn’t Harry doing a documentary in Africa?

Apparently Harry joins in too on his burner phones 🙈😅

What.an.idiot. If that's true he really doesn't think through consequences, does he? it's all about immediate gratification.

AutumnCrow · 04/04/2024 13:10

I was always fascinated by the timeline and whether H&M were conscious of what was happening to Andrew and, by family connection, to Beatrice and Eugenie.

  • Harry-Meghan get engaged in November 2017.
  • The couple get married in May 2018 and Archie born a year later.
  • The couple hinted at 'Megxit' when they announced 'holiday break' in October 2019.
  • Prince Andrew does his disastrous TV interview with Emily Maitlis, broadcast on November 16th 2019.
  • On 20 November 2019, a statement from Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew was suspending his public duties 'for the foreseeable future'.
  • Harry-Meghan step down from royal life in January 2020.
  • The couple leave the UK for California in March 2020.
  • In May 2020, it was announced that Andrew would indefinitely withdraw from his public roles. He remains under Windsor protection.
All Harry has said about his uncle Andrew is a quick dig about the loss of his (Harry's) security, compared to 'someone' accused of being a sex offender (in Spare). Other than that, crickets. It's almost like it doesn't register with H&M that this is where they could break ranks and be admired.

Weird.

OneHeartySnail · 04/04/2024 13:19

I think the suggestion - there are terrible stories about other people being hidden - wasn't especially credible to start off with, but the further we get from the allegations the less credible they are. Surely the 'original' stories would have been published by now?

After all, there is nothing KP or BP can.offer to hide them. Yet... nothing?

Let alone that anything discreditable about Charles / Camilla/ William / Catherine would have outweighed anything about H&M from the first, because closer to being Head of State. Why would a tabloid chasing clicks agree to sit on something juicy?

Serenster · 04/04/2024 13:29

This angle has always amused me. Apart from the fact that you’d have to consider William as capable of playing an extremely prescient long game in freeing up Jason Knauff to work for Meghan and Harry’s communications team long before anyone had any inkling how it would all turn out, the whole “targeting them” is ridiculous.

Jason Knauff went to court and told the truth about Meghan’s drafting of her letter to her father and how he was involved in that, and Meghan’s passing of information to Omid Scobie, and how he was involved in that too. In both cases he had copies of emails from the time in question to back up his testimony. None of this would have been remotely relevant (or even possible) if Meghan hadn’t first lied to the court about her and her staff’s actions in doing both those things. That’s on Meghan, and Meghan alone. You can’t be “targeted” for lying to the court if you don’t lie to the court on the first place…

I don’t think it’s over entirely for them yet, Meghan will have her cooking show on Netflix and isn’t Harry doing a documentary in Africa?

Dan Wooton in his "expose" of the Sussex Squad and their online targeting of him claims he knows Harry has a handful of anonymous Twitter/SM accounts he uses to post online with (& uses burner phones to do so). DW strongly implied Harry was using these anonymous SM accounts to spread the targeted harassment of DW, and also of William & Catherine.

The Africa doc has been rumoured for a while, but nothing tangible. The recent African Parks scandal may have knocked the doc on the head anyway.

Again, Meghan's cooking show is rumoured, but nothing actually announced from NF.

LipstickLil · 04/04/2024 13:32

More and more articles are coming out exposing the web that’s been weaved involving the Sussex squad, and how it links back to Harry and Meghan. They’re also starting to exposed how coordinated and strategic it has all been. Especially with the Kate conspiracy theories.

I hadn't heard about this until you mentioned it, but wow:

@Serenster Jason Knauf was a real fly in the ointment with his transparency and a paper trail proving his testimony was fact, wasn’t he? He’s really the reason that the world has proof of Harry and Meghan’s shenanigans.

I do, too. He’s been absolutely vilified just for telling the truth. Didn’t they go after his partner, also?

JSMill · 04/04/2024 14:43

When H was talking about the 'leaking and planting' done by KP and BP on the Netflix series, I realised how mentally unhealthy he was.
