I just wanted to share some thoughts I've had since talking to some RL friends last night. I'm a Republican, and didn't actually post much on any of the threads on here. But I did read them, laugh at the ones I found funny and speculated a little IRL. I enjoy robust mental health, but I feel a little sad and down today about the news. And a little guilty. It occurs to me that it might be a real source of distress to some other people. Not the big media ghouls, of course, they have no shame and will just move on to the next thing without looking back, but for those of us who bought in to the whole farrago and maybe posted things we now wish we hadn't. So remember, the media often manipulates us, the establishment often lies to us and it's actually a good thing not to immediately take what we're told at face value. Don't beat yourself up and find someone to talk to if you feel really bad about it. Take care of yourselves.

They have every right to announce news this serious whenever it's the right time for them and their young children.

If we didn't get this announcement till after Easter after when she was originally due to reappear that would be fine too.

The MD photo was a bit of an odd thing to do, it would have been more sensible to just not do one but it's hardly the huge deceit people are obsessing over. I still don't see how it matters in the least.

Not in this day and age. The culture of eternal victimhood, even in one's own rotten behaviour appears to reign supreme. Duty and quiet dignity, not complaining and taking responsibility for one's own decisions is the stuff that "Stepford Wives" do, apparently.

This. Some people on here - and twitter, and other social media platforms, and the scumbag press who gave Kate HELL for that photo, and speculated about affairs, and how she was probably having a face lift or a boob job, and how she MUST come out in public as they demand it now, have got a LONG way to go to make up for the disgusting way they have treated Kate.

Yes, they should hang their heads in shame, and fucking apologise until the day they die. I really don't care what anyone thinks about me saying that. Anyone who mocks or pours scorn on people saying 'people should be ashamed' are clearly the ones who were nasty towards her. And they won't admit it or apologise, so they mock the people supporting her. Speaks volumes about them.

And don't blame the media for 'manipulating people,' because I saw all the shitty comments all over the internet about Kate, and was not 'manipulated' a single jot by them. Then again, I am not an easily led sheep who has to follow the crowd. I am intelligent and strong, and I have my own mind.

Some might feel a bit bitter that they the royals get such prompt treatment, and the rest of us are waiting for phones to be answered and the waiting lists to go down .

Agree with @HellonMusk .... Kate - and the rest of the Royals, cannot do right for doing wrong in the eyes of some.

This post has just negated everything you said in your first post where you appeared to be contrite and apologetic for the negative things you said about Kate. What a shame. You have literally just cancelled out your contrition. Didn't last long eh?

I think it’s a disgrace that the mishandling of released pics has led to this mess.

The thing is many people were delusional then and are still being delusional now.

But it would be the bigger person to actually own your behaviour around all of this and learn from it going forward so that you don't repeat the downright nasty behaviour of the past.

There were many, many people who just accepted the statement put out from KP initially, did not think the photo shop was wise but weren't aggrieved about it and also recognised K & W as the people in the farm shop video. These people constantly tried on many threads to dampen down the ridiculous speculation and downright nastiness that others were throwing around.

Just own your bad behaviour and learn from it for the future without blaming the media, KP and its PR machine.

We all fuck up. It isn’t about any moral high ground.

Expressing regret while going but but but and laying blame at the door of others is not expressing regret.

@Catsfrontbum no it’s all the people speculating crap that has led to this.

The picture was a result of the immense pressure on them from social media nutters that had already built up. It was not the cause, it was the symptom. A Mother's Day message alone would have resulted in more ridiculous demands for proof of life. Stop grasping at straws. What led to this mess is the people who wouldn't leave her alone in the first place. And it's not a mess for William, Catherine and the RF. It's a mess for the conspiracy theorists and the media who followed them.

Yup, ,that's right. None of these ghouls are to blame for their own actions, it's all "the media" or "the establishment" 🙄

Of course, it's only two days ago that they were telling us (those of us who thought the conspiracy theories were disgusting) that we were being manipulated 🤔

I would have expected the palace to release an interim statement saying-

HRH Kate is recovering from her planned surgery and thanks everyone for their words of kindness and cards. She is at home with the children and her husband.
Then a panning shot of all them cards and so on. A royal correspondent saying he’s chatted to them and she’s doing well.
something like that. Holding statements can be drafted.
And then yesterday you'd have had a mob calling them liers for showing her recovering while she was actually dealing with worse news. I said before and I'll say it again, they couldn't win. Anything they put out or didn't put out would have made a section of people furious and continue to make accusations of being fobbed off or it being a huge PR fuck-up.

Other than the slightly dodgy MD photo that they'd have been better off just not doing they've really not done anything wrong. I can't see what they couldn't have done otherwise that would satisfy the ghouls.

There was a time in history when a crowd could go and cheer and enjoy watching a person being hanged in public. Laws don't allow that to happen any more at Tyburn but human nature doesn't change. The same types exist, they are just vile in a different way.

I'm being treated for cancer (for the second time) and I have had and am having wonderful care from the Nhs. I would not have got better from going private although I live in an area with an outstanding cancer hospital. Of course Kate would go private, why shouldn't she? Cancer is a great leveller however and the treatment available is the same treatment, be it Nhs or Private. I haven't been one of the speculators as it's distasteful, nasty and down right odd and I have my own life to live and worry about. I like the Royals and feel very much for both Kate and Charles and wish them both recovery and health - and for the media and the public to leave the alone now, particularly Kate. They are only human after all.

The frenzy was completely manufactured by those looking to create one.

Releasing the pictures fed the frenzy. Not making statements often enough fed the frenzy. Making more statements would have fed the frenzy. Not releasing any photo on MD would have fed the frenzy.

Anything they did or said or didn't do or say would have fed the frenzy. There was no way of handling this that wouldn't have done.

yes good point so they can't blame the naughty old tabloids after all ! Silly me ! Surely such thoughtful informed people such as the OP and her ilk only read the broadsheets and high end media publications.
But hang on they can still pin their bitchiness on KP and Kate herself no doubt because if only she had allowed full access to her medical records and all private information non of this would have happened.
Honestly I despair.

I’ve seen the NHS up close and personal over the last few years. They’ve been magnificent.

Against quite a lot of odds, my family are still here and kicking.
