I’m bursting into tears, here.
How awful for her. It’s terrible.

Do you know her personally? Because that is a really over the top reaction.

Why?

For stating a fact. She will be getting the best of the best treatment.
it’s a fact that private cancer treatment gives you options that aren’t available on the NHS.
Yes, it’s shit that she has cancer, but if you are going to get cancer you want to be able to access the care she is able to.

You can think poor Kate but still think she is extremely privileged to have the best team around her possible. They are not exclusive. There’s no shame to be found in that.

I find the hysterical gushing rather disturbing.

I find the vicious shite you are posting way way more disturbing. Anyone with private healthcare gets access to better treatment. It's not fucking rocket science!!!

She hasn't been hounded. She has security guards and homes where she can live in peace and quiet.

Why would she be worried about comments from strangers on social media and the internet?

She can't even go to the local shop or in a car with her mother without being filmed or photographed. Hospital staff have pried at her hospital records, probably ready to sell off to the highest bidder. There has been constant speculation about her marriage. She's probably had to have 'damage control' meetings with PR after the photoshopping carry on. She hasn't exactly had an uneventful recuperation.

It's truly awful news. So young and with primary school age children. Perhaps it would have been better to have announced it once it was diagnosed. It would have prevented so much speculation and gossip.

She's waited until her children have broken up for Easter. Makes a lot of sense.

tothelefttotheleft · 22/03/2024 18:32

charliefair · 22/03/2024 18:11

She’s at an advantage over anyone in a similar position having NHS treatment.

Yeah that royal cancer is so special Hmm

Oh come on. I have cancer. My treatment has been slow and uncaring. She won't have the same experience.

TwigletsAndRadishes · 22/03/2024 18:33

Well I hope this means people will finally give the poor woman a break.

All you tittle tattling idiots who have spent weeks spreading and fueling rumours about affairs, a love child, marriage breakdowns, mental health breakdowns, calling William lazy for pulling out of engagements and suggesting that Kate is milking a minor procedure to get loads of time of duty, I hope you feel thoroughly ashamed of yourselves now.

As if this family isn't going through enough (bearing in mind William's father has a recent cancer diagnosis also) all this gossip and nasty speculation will have contributed to them feeling a whole lot worse.

I hope you are all proud of yourselves, you absolute fuckers.

decionsdecisions62 · 22/03/2024 18:33

I wonder if this news is going to trigger a Diana type hysteria? I bet they have actually considered that.

Or perhaps she just wanted a bit of privacy while she processed the news with her family?

Jellycats4life · 22/03/2024 18:33

I wonder if it was her appendix. That would chime with abdominal surgery not thought to be cancer related.

Whatever it is, I wish her well. So terrifying for her at such a young age.

Well I've got to 70 without cancer, I think I'm more privileged than she is.

OP: She’s at an advantage over anyone in a similar position having NHS treatment.

How kind of you.

It's a a statement of fact. What's does kindness have to do with that?

Come on yourself. Of course she won't have the same experience, but that's not what I meant by my comment and I think you know it.

Such a fucking tone deaf thing to say!!!

Cloudful · 22/03/2024 18:35

She needs to left alone now, with all these stupid conspiracy theories going around. It’s been relentless. She made a perfectly valid statement before her operation, that should have been enough for everyone. Instead speculation started because they declined to say anything more and people just ran wild, they’d split up, he’d had an affair and a child, she was in a coma. Honestly, it was getting ridiculous. Let’s hope she’s shut everyone up now and can recover in peace.

McSteamyorMcdreamy · 22/03/2024 18:35

"I find the hysterical gushing quite disturbing"

Says the person who started a thread with no sense of irony.

Irrespective of private treatment this just goes to show that you can be the richest, most privileged person in the world but cancer doesn't give a fucking rats arse.

What the fuck is wrong with people??

areyoutheregod · 22/03/2024 18:36

Very sad news. I am glad she is getting treatment and that its going well. Feel for William with both his father and wife going through cancer, we had 3 people in the extended family at once and it's tough. It is a real shame she did not have the right staff to navigate through this, as that is the reason for the heightened attention. I imagine this announcement would have come around this time anyway so I don't think any media or social media chatter would have affected it. Wishing her and Charles well.

Lelivre · 22/03/2024 18:36

I'm a Royal Family Lurker who almost never posts...Initially a secret meghan fashion fan who, intrigued by the way in which they left the RF and subsequent revelations.

I never found any interest in Kate or her fashion (not accessible or relatable or interetsing) but over time felt sympathy and respect for her as she carried on through some unseemly behaviour on the part of certain family members looking more and more classy, restrained and glamorous.

There have been an awful lot of uncharitable posts of late on this board especially from ones who tirelessly give M and H the benefit of the doubt, it has been uncomfortable to read and even more so now the situation is clearer. Some regular posters have really let themselves down, perhaps there will be some needed reflection, even better, retractions.

@woahboy

It's true though. She will be at the front of every queue and will 100% get the BEST cancer specialists. She will never see a public ward

She still has fucking cancer. Of course she won't be in a public ward, but do you really think the chemo is any different? They will have a special potion made up just for her? Being first in line means fuck all with cancer.

The chemo might not be different but how she is treated while having it and how she is monitored and supported after it will be completely different.

You work in a cancer ward ? And you write this on a public forum? My god!!

@bluefrog11 Im sure you didnt mean it to come out the way it has but there will be people on this thread whose loved ones have had a pancreatic or liver cancer diagnosis and be utterly devastated by what you have written, not realising its prognosis.

I feel tremendous sadness for anyone whatever their age, status, married, children whatever who are waging their own personal battle at the moment. I do think though that there has been so much speculation amongst the public that this announcement, had it been made sooner would have shut up the press and reduced overall the hysteria and wild theories and conspiracies that have taken root. I think the royal families advisors have misstepped on this one I am afraid and they have laid the way open for the ridiculous posts we have all seen recently. a short statement weeks ago would ultimately in my opinion have been the better option. allowing the rumours to grow and fester was ridiculous. The PoW and her family have been let down badly by their advisors.

Halloweenrainbow · 22/03/2024 18:38

They said initially that her surgery was not cancer related and now there's this diagnosis and treatment that the BBC describe as "preventative". Are we to assume that the cancer was an incidental finding and that its caught early?

Also to the people saying conspiracy theorists should be ashamed - actually many people were spot-on that there was something more to this situation than we were being told.

Wishing her a speedy recovery.
