@Doseofreality - explain why Steve jobs died of cance

I’m not the poster you referenced but steve jobs died of cancer bc he ignored known symptoms until his cancer had progressed too far to be treated. He also had pancreatic cancer which is one of the worst AND he refused treatments for almost a year after diagnosis so by the time he opted to treat it was too far gone.

So essentially he died bc he was hard headed. I’m confident kate isn’t ignoring her health overall and is actively working with medical professionals so hopefully will enjoy a full recovery.

The treatment for the cancer that the Royals get is special, Joe Public would have to wait weeks for tests.

Cancer is cancer, privileged people have options regarding their treatment. That is a fact. Kate won’t be in a postcode lottery for meds.

@Doseofreality what's your point? She'll get good treatment, but so what? Are you saying she shouldn't? Or that it's unfair she gets better treatment than Jane Doe on the NHS?

Simply drop it. Just because something is true, doesn't make it a useful thing to state in a discussion unless you are trying to minimise her experience - "Oh HER cancer? Oh that's nothing! She'll get great treatment, unlike all the other people with cancer...". Please be more respectful.

Rainbowqueeen · 22/03/2024 20:28

Lovely statement from King Charles saying how proud he is of her courage.

I can’t imagine how awful it must be to tell your young DC that you have cancer as well as having to deal with all the speculation over something that she is entitled to keep private and to deal with in the way that is best for her and her family.

Halloweenrainbow · 22/03/2024 20:28

I don't understand their handling of it. I think they could do better to rise above the gossip and not release statements in response to random nonsense online.

Really, this is the moment you chose to criticise them. They didn’t handle it well enough for you?

Steve Jobs refused cancer treatment, in favour of homeopathy.

He had pancreatic cancer so he almost certainly would have died either way.

Mustardseed86 · 22/03/2024 20:33

Oh gosh that's made me really sad. A really lovely message from the princess though. I did think there were some strange signals coming from KP but the speculation has been so grubby and ridiculous. Poor William as well, and the children. Obviously I don't know them so I'm as daft as anyone else posting, but I so hope things will be ok.

No, he had a rare treatable form of pancreatic cancer.

Cireclesse · 22/03/2024 20:41

@Rubyreddgirl cancer isn't the only health condition, you're right. And whatever it is you're going through, I'm sorry and I wish you very well. But here's the thing, I can feel compassion for you and for the Princess of Wales at the same time.

In fact, I can feel compassion and empathy for anyone who's struggling with illness and all that it brings to them and their families, regardless of who they are or how wealthy they are.

I don't think they've released this statement in response to anything really. Finding out about the cancer was the reason William missed the memorial, so a while after their original statement about her being back after Easter. So they'd always have had to say something to change that part, and the timing is to coincide with their children breaking up from school which is very understandable. I think this statement would have come out regardless of any online gossip.

You don't have to understand it. Their choice.

I wonder if the staff suspended for accessing her medical information knew the details and the palace were worried it would leak. Better to get ahead of it.

Maybe she wanted to release a statement and it has nothing to do with random nonsense online? If they’d wanted to respond to nonsense they’d have done so around the time of the car photo or the Mother’s Day photo, when online went truly mad. Nothing new has happened today – or Wednesday when I think it was filmed? – to push them into doing this; the timing lines up with the school holidays, so now they can hunker down with their kids.

Maybe because people had completely lost their minds with ridiculous conspiracy theories and they had to put a stop to it?

I think they just waited until the DC broke up, so they could sit out the initial reaction privately at home (probably Sandringham for Easter)

are you really going to start with these kinds of nasty posts directed at other posters? Honestly pull your head in.

@areyoutheregod

You are one of the worst. Your constant posting supporting @severalwhippets was disgraceful.

You should be apologising

It doesn't matter whether she was hounded into releasing this or whether there is a different reason why she chose to disclose her situation now.

The fact is she was hounded. Especially on Mumsnet. While dealing with an awful situation.

Posters positively salivating over Rose, calling Kate and William lazy when he cancelled the reading as he found out about Kate's bad news, and just lacking basic humanity and empathy.

At least Harry and Meghan had grace enough to share a supportive message. I won't be looking at these threads anymore. They are in extremely poor taste.

They just can't win. Even on just this thread she's been criticised for not having said more earlier and now for saying anything at all.

There will always be a chunk of very odd people obsessed with how the PR team have handled it and what information they think they are owed.

Completely ridiculous. It makes total sense they'd wait until they had more information before saying anything but some people will never be happy.

Apparently being privileged means you don’t deserve sympathy when something bad happens to you because presumably being privileged automatically makes you a bad person. You only deserve sympathy when something bad happens to you if you’re struggling on the breadline it seems.

This seems to be a general attitude on MN.
