The treatment for the cancer that the Royals get is special, Joe Public would have to wait weeks for tests.

Cancer is cancer, privileged people have options regarding their treatment. That is a fact. Kate won’t be in a postcode lottery for meds.

Shocking news... Future queen who is independently wealthy can afford to pay for private treatment.

If they used the NHS people would fucking moan, saying they're blocking a bed... costing the tax payer ££££

She shouldn't have had to do that statement.

She only had to do it to shut up the trolls. Shame.

I have a feeling the staff at the hospital were successful, that’s what’s forced her hand.

Or maybe she was going to put out a statement anyway, and timed it with the school holidays.

Either way, I hope they get to spend a lovely couple of weeks in private with their children.

Cancer isn't the only important health problem!
Get a grip
I have been waiting since 2019 for treatment

If you had had cancer you wouldn’t have been waiting 5 years for treatment. Your health problems are nothing to do with this so why don’t YOU get a grip.

There are people on the world who don’t have access to any medical treatment, so count yourself lucky.

Does that make you feel better?

Probably not, eh?

concernedchild · 22/03/2024 19:31

@ChardonnaysBeastlyCat she had to because she is tax payer funded.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 22/03/2024 19:32

Time to get rid of them

Thinking that the monarchy should go is completely separate to Catherine having cancer.
They just aren't related at all.

Yes she has access to excellent healthcare, as do many wealthy people. The state of healthcare, and the inequalities involved, is a valid discussion. As is the institution of the monarchy. But they aren't related. Abolishing the monarchy (which I would support) would do nothing to help healthcare in this country.

From cancer diagnosis to surgery was one week for me (NHS) three years ago. As soon as had recovered from the surgery I commenced radiotherapy (NHS). Follow up appointments have been regular (NHS). Throughout, I have had constant access to specialist nurses for advice or just answers to questions and worries. (NHS)

Of course Catherine will have the best treatment but I doubt it will be very much better than mine. She'll have more privacy and posher recovery rooms but the NHS does a magnificent job and saves thousands of lives every week.

It's frightening news for anyone but she's strong and has a supportive family around her so I hope they can shield her from the vile trolls, spiteful commentators and intrusive media.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 22/03/2024 19:33

@concernedchild I was just answering the PP who asked why another poster was suggesting Blake Lively would apologise. I wasn't making any comment on what Lively should or shouldn't have done, or what she should or shouldn't do now.

I know someone who was diagnosed a week ago and is dead now, before they could even see their consultant

“Also to the people saying conspiracy theorists should be ashamed - actually many people were spot-on that there was something more to this situation than we were being told”

this. From the point they found out about the cancer (supposedly when William missed the memorial) the palace have handled this in an incredibly shifty manner which made it clear something weird was going on. Yes, the theories have been insane and some people have gone too far, but it shows people pick up on things being handled differently.

wish Kate a speedy recovery.

Yes, but instead of thinking that something wasn’t adding up and therefore giving the family the benefit of the doubt that they had valid reasons for needing some extra time or privacy, people jumped in with so many ludicrous theories and so much harassment. Now I hope they realise their mistake. If nothing else they have made themselves look like fools with all their crazed conspiracies.

How tragic - it sounds like treatment would have been too late for them. My father was diagnosed three weeks before he died. It was too late for him too.

Inyournewdress · 22/03/2024 19:38

@Katemiddletonsphotoshopper I do recognise you basically said in your message about the crazy theories and agree with you.

@ChardonnaysBeastlyCat she had to because she is tax payer funded.

Oh really?

So does everybody who in in receipt of PIP, DLA or UC have to waive their privacy? Because they are also tax funded.

No one should have to feel that they owe anyone an explanation about their health.

Sorry but can you link the research that people with cancer wait for years for treatment ! Thanks

@Doseofreality - explain why Steve jobs died of cance

Steve Jobs refused cancer treatment, in favour of homeopathy.

Quizine · 22/03/2024 20:00

It is good that it is all out in the open now. To those saying she was hounded into making the video, well I think it (or similar) would have happened anyway since it is obvious that she is not well enough to return to duties at Easter due to treatment. At least now the world knows the real reason why.

headstone · 22/03/2024 20:02

Poor Kate, I wish her the best, just shows that cancer can affect anyone, even those that are incredibly healthy.

@ChardonnaysBeastlyCat she had to because she is tax payer funded.

Except she is not "tax payer funded". The only thing the tax payer pays for is security. Their expenses are paid by The Sovereign with income from the Crown Estate. Their income comes from The Duchy of Cornwall

You've been waiting 5years for medical treatment? You must chase it up, ring your GP, ring the hospital!

Poor Catherine still having folk mock and sneer like this poster. Her statement was so dignified. I, like most rational people, wish her well.

Nono22972 · 22/03/2024 20:07

I just saw the news! This is so sad. I was not expecting that at all.

Thankfully, I've never had cancer but I was a caregiver. In 2022, my then partner was diagnosed with cancer while I was pregnant with our baby girl, it was probably the hardest period of my life. I saw how it affected him, not only physically but mentally and for months after it all, he still was dealing with depression.

Whether it is stage 1 or 4, having cancer is going to change you and everyone around you. I hope she'll be okay and sending her good vibes to her and the entire family.

MumHereAgain2023 · 22/03/2024 20:09

Wow I'm sorry to hear this and this crazy circus she has had to deal with since the operation.
Let's hope it's a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

Wealthy people work for their money, don't use the pubic and pay taxes.

All tax payer funded and owed as they don't pay their fair share of taxes. No monetary contribution from their private purses.

CanNeverThinkOfAName · 22/03/2024 20:16

Bad enough dealing with a cancer diagnosis at her age with 3 young children, after going through major stomach surgery for something you were hoping was benign (from what she said in the video), but to have the world falsely speculating your husband having an affair and his supposed OW being lined up to take your place, being pregnant with his child and one of the OW’s children being his and also him being abusive would be too much for anyone to take!

Awful that Kate may have had to make this announcement before she was ready to share due to all the horrible rumours and despicable attempts to gain access to her medical records by hospital staff!

It says a lot about the mentality of people in this country.
