Breaking news.

OP posts:
Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/03/2024 22:24

There will always be a chunk of very odd people obsessed with how the PR team have handled it and what information they think they are owed

That's why some of us stayed well away from those deranged threads, @DappledThings, firstly because there was nothing new to say and also because there's no chance of rational discussion with that sort of mindset

In any case KP always maintained there'd be no further announcements until there was anything new to report, and now sadly there is so it's been said

This is indeed the salient point. I don't know why I try to to have any rational discussion with any of them but I did get drawn in.

Just to redress the balance a little on the gloomy prognosis for cancer of the pancreas (as mentioned by a poster earlier, along with liver), my uncle had this and survived 10+ years (died of something else in the end).
(Not intending to speculate on which cancer Kate actually has. None of our business).

@areyoutheregod

You are one of the worst. Your constant posting supporting @severalwhippets was disgraceful.

You should be apologising

👏 👏

Ralphinesonvoice · 22/03/2024 23:38

First time and last time I will post : Shame on the people who have been speculating non stop.

I do hope Kate survives a lot longer than that, for the sake of her young children! William must be so worried about history repeating itself!

They just can't win. Even on just this thread she's been criticised for not having said more earlier and now for saying anything at all.

There will always be a chunk of very odd people obsessed with how the PR team have handled it and what information they think they are owed.

Completely ridiculous. It makes total sense they'd wait until they had more information before saying anything but some people will never be happy.

Well we all pay for the royals, so it’s not unreasonable in general for the public to have expectations around how they behave. But in this particular circumstance I feel for Kate and her family. That Kate’s medical privacy was breached was awful.

I wonder if it was her appendix. That would chime with abdominal surgery not thought to be cancer related.

Whatever it is, I wish her well. So terrifying for her at such a young age.

I really hope it isn’t. My sister had cancer of the appendix, it is exceedingly rare, her oncologist had never seen it before. It was initially thought to be ovarian until she was on the operating table and they discovered her ovaries were healthy. The treatment for it is brutal, my sister decided against it, she was 78 and there was a real risk she wouldn’t survive the surgical procedure it entails.
I miss her so much.

Poor Catherine and William, I’m so sorry this has happened to them.

Lampslights · 23/03/2024 05:53

I can’t believe people are now just speculating as to what type of cancer. It’s just utterly grim.🥲

Prunesaregreat · 23/03/2024 06:28

Its very sad, she looked so very fragile and realy poorly.

Salemforcuddles · 22/03/2024 19:21

Do I hear the distant rattle of back pedalling?

Yip also sounds like a neck being wound in.

mids2019 · 23/03/2024 08:14

I suppose if a cancer has been discovered in the abdomen it does limit the number of cancers it could be i.e. not breast or brain for instance. I do hope the cancer was caught early in any case.

I think there is a difference to King Charles' motivation to declare their disease in that Charles was very much for raising awareness amongst men but Kate has been effectively pressured to give a statement.

Cancer has such a wide range of prognoses and survival rates that it is hard to tell in each of these cases how severe the disease is. I do wonder if being a young woman Kate is making a decision to step away from the limelight for a prolonged period and the public will have to accept this.

it’s exactly what she says, she stepping back to get treatment and recover and is looking forward to getting back when able. There is no conspiracy here, really there is not.

To be clear, I was NOT speculating on what type of cancer this may be. A poster earlier made a crass remark (now deleted) about the prognoses for two specific types and was (rightly) castigated for it, mainly on the grounds of it potentially upsetting readers for whom it may be close to home. I was trying to give a bit of hope there.
We have no idea what Kate's type is and nor should we.

I am just waiting for someone to come on and demand to know the type of cancer, that the public have a right to know etc followed by someone saying that they had that and were back at work 2 weeks later.

I thought she looked great & immaculate as always. But when I was having treatment I really hated people commenting on my appearance & saying ‘oh you looked so poorly’ or ‘I was so worried about how ill you looked.’ People focusing on my appearance made me feel very vulnerable & scrutinised. You just don’t need to hear that as there is nothing you can do about it. Sorry not wanting to attack you specifically it’s just a bug bear of mine!

Mylovelygreendress · 23/03/2024 09:07

@Summerrabbit i was the same . People kept saying that I was so thin . Yes, I have a mirror !!

CanNeverThinkOfAName · 22/03/2024 20:16

Bad enough dealing with a cancer diagnosis at her age with 3 young children, after going through major stomach surgery for something you were hoping was benign (from what she said in the video), but to have the world falsely speculating your husband having an affair and his supposed OW being lined up to take your place, being pregnant with his child and one of the OW’s children being his and also him being abusive would be too much for anyone to take!

Awful that Kate may have had to make this announcement before she was ready to share due to all the horrible rumours and despicable attempts to gain access to her medical records by hospital staff!

It says a lot about the mentality of people in this country.

TBH I doubt Kate would even be aware of the internet gossip. I highly doubt she goes on X or Mumsnet and looks at what people are saying about her.

motheronthedancefloor · 23/03/2024 09:38

does preventative treatment mean they've caught it, and they are making sure it doesn't come back, or they've found it and they are trying to stop it spreading?

Janiie · 23/03/2024 10:24

'I am just waiting for someone to come on and demand to know the type of cancer, that the public have a right to know etc followed by someone saying that they had that and were back at work 2 weeks later.'

Yep, there'll be a very brief lull as the trolls gather their limited thoughts but it will start again I have no doubt.

Salemforcuddles · 23/03/2024 10:26

@Janiie I think they are very busy at the moment, what with all the back pedalling

Shityshitybangbang · 23/03/2024 10:31

motheronthedancefloor · Today 09:38
for me they got all the cancer out the colon, but there were still some cells left. I got chemo to zap the cells and to stop the cancer( fingers crossed) coming back. I’m sure preventative means that.

Doubtless it'll be along shortly, but happily and as ever there's no obligation to engage

Salemforcuddles · 23/03/2024 10:26

True indeed, but there will be some angle they can use to attack. We won't get updates so that means she made up chemo or perhaps they'll decide it was too late so the lookalike theories will gather pace again.

I find it fascinating that a lot of it seems from US media, that ghastly TMZ in particular. We've been told it's The Evil UK Media who have been gossips in recent years but they have been very restrained.

I hope we don't see a sea of teddies and flowers at KP.
