Regarding the rest of your post, the point is that today, without a scintilla of embarrassment, you came on a thread & were happy to admit you'd speculated her absence was due to issues in her marriage, specifically infidelity. On a thread on the evening the woman discloses a cancer diagnosis.

Me either but I almost teared up watching her video. Her poor kids. Cancer is such a robber of joy. Its unfair for everyone who gets this hideous disease. The ghouls will be feeling justified on the back of a young mums misery

I felt oddly emotional when I heard the news and I’m not a royalist. I suppose the royal family get into your psyche more than you think. Or maybe it’s seeing a young woman with a young family go through something really quite frightening.

William must be absolutely livid with the speculation that has been going on. Hats off to her for a brave video. I’d feel like telling everyone to fuck right off.

At least this should halt the rumour mill and afford them the space and privacy they need. Wish her well in her recovery.

Imagine dealing with cancer treatment whilst half the internet speculates that your husband has been either shagging around or has knocked you off. You need to have a very thick skin to be a celebrity in the age of social media. It's quite sad you need that thick skin the most when you're at your most vulnerable though.

The Palace may have decided to make the statement because they recognise it is a serious development that the public have a right to know about. Which we do, given that this is the future Queen. The statement has had the effect of killing the speculation but the speculation may not have been the reason why they made the statement.

Oh get the smelling salts out with your puritanical moral standards! You are the same kind of person who would have bullied our late Queen into making a public appearance after Diana died.

I think the most admirable thing about her video message was her thanking everyone for their support and caring messages. Either she doesn't read X and Mumsnet or she was lying through her teeth.

Obviously like everyone I would wish her a speedy recovery, it must be a terrible time for the children especially but I also feel very sorry for William, both his father and wife battling cancer with so few of the family to shoulder the burden. It will be putting huge pressure on other members of the family who aren't in the first flush of youth.

As another person who had cancer and thankfully it's behind me now @Dartwarbler s post is spot on.

Although as another cancer survivor I am fucking grateful I was not dealing with it as one of the most famous people in the world. Aside from the illness she's going to get all the concerned weirdos advising her to cut out sugar because it makes the tumour grow, try acupuncture, try coffee enemas, eat a plant based diet, put her trust in the Lord etc ON TOP of the weirdos who think she has a body double/an unfaithful husband/ has just had the world's most disastrous facelift.

The fact she gave such a polite message and didn't say now fuck the fuck off the whole fucking lot of you shows she's a much nicer woman than I will ever be.

But this all illustrates to me that's it's not the press who are the real baddies. It never was, not even with Diana. It's the public who are the actual baddies. They can hound people without a paparazzi in sight, like a bunch of playground bullies. People need to have a word with themselves.

Totally agree. Fighting ,battling etc is complete bollocks ! As a nurse and a friend of a dear person who died recently at the age of 43 recently I feel so strongly about this . My friend died not because she had lost a battle,she died because there was no other alternative!!

I really can't get over how utterly horrible some people can be. We knew she'd had surgery and that she wasn't seen for quite a while. Surely you would surmise from that, that she had something pretty serious going on and that if we needed to know, we'd be told.

All these nosey parkers and conspiracy theorists make me so angry. It's none of your business. I hate the social media frenzy stuff so stupid and pointless. What a bunch of sad fuckers to have so little going on in their lives that they're making stuff up about somebody they know nothing about.
