Radio 4 announcing it now.

OP posts:
Buffs · 23/03/2024 18:17

I have cancer and I find drama and sympathy unhelpful. I think the media could do with backing off now , stop with the endless articles and absolutely stop referring to her as ‘cancer stricken’.

Idontknowwhattodo78 · 23/03/2024 18:32

@spanieleyes critical thinking? Fully versed in that thanks, which I why I thought it wasn’t her. And also why I’m aware that it makes not one jot of difference what I think. Perhaps you should give it a go?

spanieleyes · 23/03/2024 18:43

You may well believe it's not her, I have no idea one way or another. But the idea that a "sighting" would quell social media interest is a little far fetched. All it did was heighten it!

FrancisSeaton · 23/03/2024 18:59

The thing is nobody who said they didn't think it was her at the farm shop (and I'm even more convinced after seeing her yesterday) has mentioned hiring lookalikes 🙄 it's just as hyperbolic as those frothing and saying Kate looks unwell is evil and has no compassion

Sunflowerinherfifties · 23/03/2024 19:03

I am no fan of the Royal family I feel for her as I do with anyone who is suffering from cancer especially with young children she obviously will get the best treatment

Gingernan · 23/03/2024 19:06

I'm not a Royalist at all,but have a lot of time for Princess Kate, and really wish her well. Lost my mum to cancer when she was 41and my husband when he was 46 so wouldn't wish this on anyone, I'm sure she is getting excellent care and will make a good recovery.

DoughBallss · 23/03/2024 19:35

I (30YO with two young children) had a cancer scare at the beginning of this year and it is the scariest thing I have ever been through - the constant rollercoaster of emotions about leaving your children is really not nice. For her to be dealing with that in the public eye with the constant pressure of what people think must be absolutely awful. I really hope her telling people the situation will make everybody leave them alone to deal with it mentally and her physically.

Wishing them all the best

Aspire5253 · 23/03/2024 19:39

Most people I know are fed up with the amount of press this awful family gets. What about the thousands of others who are suffering. It’s as if they don’t count.

PuppyPlus · 23/03/2024 19:57

I wonder if the bots have all been updated.

OhcantthInkofaname · 23/03/2024 20:20

I am glad she came forward - because you know the British tabloids have no respect for privacy and would announce this on their front pages. They would not care what they did to her children. I wish they would have had some more time to get their children settled with the diagnosis.

I imagine hospital staff have been accosted by media spies for information. I hate them with a passion and I'm from the US.

I hope the rest of the Royal Family now understands what Harry and Meghan went through.

And to think members of the public trying to access Your private medical information to publicize it. Before you had a chance even to tell your children and family.

Morganrae1 · 23/03/2024 20:23

I hoe she fully recovers. I've had cancer twice and lost a friend to it two days ago. people can be so horrible. They should not speculate about other people it's not their business.

Buffs · 23/03/2024 20:37

I have incurable cancer and school aged children. I have been disgusted at the relentless press coverage of this, using phrases such,’cancer stricken”and ‘in a fight for her life”. Not only is all this drama likely unhelpful to Kate it is also upsetting for many other people living with cancer.

This is sad you lost them both so young :(

Newsenmum · 23/03/2024 20:44

And I really wish people would fuck off about the farm shop. Who cares about such a minor, pedantic thing now.

That’s a really unpleasant post. If you’re so fed up with them why are you on these threads?

BedtimeLover · 23/03/2024 20:56

What is wrong with people. Are their lives so shit that they have to revel in others misery and gossip and speculate about things they have no real knowledge of?

Depressing.

Aspire5253 · 23/03/2024 20:58

It’s called free speech. Or are only people who think like you allowed an opinion,

BigWillyLittleTodger · 23/03/2024 21:01

Do you honestly believe other members haven’t been absolutely hounded by the media over the years? Had awful things written about them, name calling, phones tapped, press hounding them wherever they go, long lens photographers taking pictures of them in private residences whilst topless, it’s not a new phenomenon that was invented purely for Meghan and Harry, and no, before you say it they haven’t had it worse no matter their whining.

cavalier · 23/03/2024 21:25

Bless her heart .. I was in McDonald’s and just happened to see it all on my phone .. I broke down 😢the poor Prince and the other Royals
she’s amazing beautiful and brave and the love for her from the uk will be solidified now for sure, plus many others in the world ..

Crikeyalmighty · 23/03/2024 21:27

@Buffs I am so very sorry about your situationand yes I can easily see how it makes people in a shitty situation feel worse.

FlipFlop1987 · 23/03/2024 21:30

Had the Queen been alive it wouldn’t have got to this, there would have been a media blackout and that would have been the bottom line. She knew exactly how to deal with this kind of intrusion and what she said goes. Since she’s been gone, it feels like the media see them as fair game

ForestBather · 23/03/2024 21:38

Goodness, the poor woman has had major surgery and is having treatment for cancer. She shouldn't have to think about how she looks in the public eye at all. No, she doesn't look as well as usual, but probably quite well considering. At least behind closed doors she is free from the analysis and free to concentrate on her family.

It’s typical hyperbole to drum up support and detract from the stark contrast between the royals’ healthcare and those who are reliant on the NHS, with the attendant delays and inconsistencies. She’s had surgery and is undergoing preventative chemo as a belt and braces precaution to minimise the risk of spread. With all due respect to her, that’s not exactly fighting for her life - which is suggestive of someone with an advanced cancer, looking at very limited options. That said, she could well do without the shitshow played out on social media since her surgery was announced.

Not mentally ill - though it is possible.

Just a bit dim and with nothing better to do than engage in bizarre conspiracy theories that suggest you don't have much to do in real life or you have significant real life concerns and use conspiracy theories to distract yourself.

Whatever the cause. THIS IS NOTHING TO WITH YOU. YOU DONT KNOW THESE PEOPLE AND THEY DONT EFFECT YOUR LIFE IN ANY MEANINGFUL WAY.

Switch off the Internet. Concentrate on your life. If you don't have friends or family, go outside and touch some grass and listen to the birds.

Did you mean ‘touch’ or ‘smoke’ ?
