Radio 4 announcing it now.

OP posts:
PurplePansy05 · 22/03/2024 19:34

Oh shit. I have never heard of anyone having their parent and spouse undergoing cancer treatment at the same time, it's incredibly unlucky and stressful for all of them. I can see how emotional Kate has been and I'm sending lots of strength to her and all of them. How absolutely horrible for the whole family.

happyinherts · 22/03/2024 19:34

Saddened to see the shit on Twitter (x) still continuing. What is the matter with people? What exactly do they want? Sometimes I think we'd all be better off without social media. Mumsnet I see as more a help and advice forum before someone berates me, but what a sad world when people still keep digging at a very poorly woman who has 3 primary school children, and unfortunately has her private life turned over by all and sundry. She is a brave lady. I wish I had her strength.

It’s not me, it was all over the Internet. Honestly, there was some really wild and bizarre stuff out there too. The speculation can be put to bed now and hopefully she makes a full recovery and her privacy is respected.

You’re betting on the cause of another woman’s distress. Then you’re describing a life threatening illness as ‘bad too’. That’s what makes your behaviour arsehole behaviour and is nothing to do with anyone else. Have a look at yourself.

di2004 · 22/03/2024 19:37

Sad that she had to make this announcement about her health.

Get well soon Catherine x

SirChenjins · 22/03/2024 19:38

To have to go public with something as devastating as this in order to simply have time together in private as a family, something we all take for granted, must be awful. Hopefully she makes a full recovery and the obsessive speculation stops.

There was a lot of speculation out there (not started by me). There is a legitimate public interest in the life and welfare of the future Queen and people were filling in the gaps while the Palace refused to make a statement. The affair seemed on the plausible end of the theories.

I’m glad it’s not about her marriage but her illness IS bad. Just because she is a royal does that not mean that cancer is not serious.

FrancisSeaton · 22/03/2024 19:43

I wondered when the people should hang their heads in shame posts would start
You can have every sympathy in the world for a young mum suffering with cancer and still comment that a video alleging she was sighted wasn't her . Less of the histrionics

But you are still speculating.

Of course it was her. People carry on working with cancer. No reason for not having a walk around the farm shop.

MintyCedric · 22/03/2024 19:44

Can only hope now that Harry might put his ego back in it’s box, step up and support his brother and father.

It wasn't just that though, was it. People were posting the most outrageous and cruel theories about her.

Namechange25793 · 22/03/2024 19:47

@CaterhamReconstituted I think you need to do some self reflection and develop some compassion. Eating humble pie and apologising would be a good place to start.

OpalSpirit · 22/03/2024 19:47

We have dealt with cancer in our family and actually got a positive outcome after initial very bad news.
I can’t speak about it without a wobbling bottom lip.

I cannot conceive of the self control and grit that allowed POW to make that statement, having recently received this news and knowing it will be watched all over the world.
Had no real opinion on POW before, but admire her very much now.

Wishing POW and everyone here who is dealing with cancer much peace and healing.

Forget about what was said and focus energy on her getting well and supporting her.

Exactly. Wish the family well and move on is all that really needs to be said on the thread. Nothing more.

I'm no fan of the royal family and in fact would like to see the institution abolished but I hold the people on here who've been speculating in absolute contempt. You know who and what you are.

I wish the Princess the best in her treatment.

I think the speculators have been proved right that more was going on than just surgery actually.
Now they have been upfront she will have nothing but sympathy and be left to get in with it.

sunday23 · 22/03/2024 19:49

Feel so sad at this news. She’s beautiful and elegant, but moreover a mother to three kids and so young, my heart goes out to her and her family

TextureSeeker · 22/03/2024 19:50

The poor lady, you'd have to have a heart of stone not to feel for her having to sit there and beg for people to leave her family alone. Tough times for the Royal family for sure.

Not sure I understand you. I feel a great deal of sympathy for the Princess of Wales.

EasternEcho · 22/03/2024 19:52

I wish her well, and a speedy recovery.
I don't think she made this announcement solely because she was bullied into it. She and William won't be making an appearance at Easter as initially announced, and KP know this would have set off a firestorm of speculation to eclipse anything we've seen so far. The initial announcement by KP did say that only any major developments would be announced, and this was it.
Let's leave them alone.

Not a bit of it, they won't recognise themselves but it's every single one who clamoured for information they had no right to, every single one who kept the threads going. This board has been hellish and even now, the twats are simply sitting on the threads saying they're 'looking forward to the explanations' from the ones they perceive have been ghouls.

They are ALL ghouls. All of these threads are ghoulish and not going to allow peaceful recovery. Kate has done her bit for cancer awareness but the family needs to be left alone like anybody else's would be.

Every person who kept every thread going… and that includes these threads now

the hypocrisy is astounding. “Needs privacy” - well even the ridiculous thoughts and prayers that she will never see are keeping this even more in the public eye

But there was loads of speculation about what was going on!

I think the statement was the right thing to do, to kill the speculation so she can focus on her recovery.

Well said, and I hope that at least some of them have the good grace to feel ashamed.

You’re not explaining why you thought it was ok to flippantly bet a tenner on her life? People like you speculating are why she has had to do this. She should have been able to deal with it privately, if she wanted to, as do very many well known people.
