I never disagreed with the “she’s had surgery she should be let in peace”. My comments related to the appalling media management that meant she wasn’t. She should have been much better protected by her comms team.

It’s ridiculous to to tell me I have no empathy simply because I called it right. Despite not being a royalist I have the greatest sympathy for her and her family. It’s a terrible thing for anyone with young children.

"You called it right"???!! Like fuck you did!

At that point they should have simply put out a statement, rather than a major blunder that simply fanned the flames.

She was dealing with a cancer diagnosis! Telling her children that their mother was ill, at the same time as their granddad! Why on earth should she have put a statement out? To appease people like you?

43ontherocksporfavor · 22/03/2024 19:16

Obviously wasn’t her going to the farm shop! I wish her well as I do anyone undergoing treatment but especially anyone who has to go to work despite treatment and those without support.

Oh stop.
They had priorities, protecting the children and releasing the news only when they were able to contain the kids.

Are you joking? It’s getting hard to tell.

Mirabai · 22/03/2024 18:56

Gosh no with hindsight they did everything wrong. I used to work in the media, and they made rookie textbook errors. This isn’t about sharing diagnosis - but about effectively shielding her until such a time as it was appropriate. Which wasn’t successful.

Good god, go and offer your 'humble' services to KP then!!

Maybe they didn't rush immediately to tell their team possibly? Kept it to themselves for a bit?

Bored to my tits with this comms ranting. It's done. Pipe down.

I agree, but for that she would have been left alone. It was a major blunder.

That’s a complete rewriting of history. The photo was the result of the massive where’s Kate campaign not the cause.

The Sun, this evening, confirming that it was. You can go out if you have cancer, you just need to be careful and know your limits and what is safe.

You have misunderstood, I never said she should put out a statement about her cancer, rather a generic Mother’s Day statement rather than a photo that lead to the escalation of an already febrile story.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 22/03/2024 19:20

Yeah right! Like a statement alone would have stopped the conspiracy crazies and their "proof of life" bullshit.

She did. She wished mothers everywhere a Happy Mother's Day. But that wasn't enough for the rabid tin hat brigade.

Of course when someone is ill they should be solely focused on the needs of the public.. said no one ever.

43ontherocksporfavor · 22/03/2024 19:22

The Sun???? Yeah cos they print the truth!

They bought and published the fucking video, it's their responsibility to verify it. They are subject to press reporting standards. The are open to legal action if it's not. You really don't understand how the media works, do you?

So much back pedalling on here by certain posters.

People will not voice it now, but they will think it .

You just can’t stop denying it can you? There was very obviously something seriously wrong.

They will, because they're fucking idiots. Stupid is as stupid does, eh.

43ontherocksporfavor · 22/03/2024 19:30

Honestly, thousands of people suffer with cancer. The POW is just one of them. This fawning is just ridiculous. She has it easier than most. Spare a thought for the poor souls with no support and bills to pay.

Roussette · 22/03/2024 19:31

user1984778379202 · 22/03/2024 18:51

Oh, so you know for sure that the comms team knew that she'd done a bit of photoshop touching up before giving it to them? That she told them specifically she'd done it? No, you don't.

Even if she did retouch the photo why on earth did they let a woman with cancer take the blame?
They could have put out a statement saying...
"Kensington Palace would like to apologize for the veracity of the picture we put out to news media. It was unacceptable, please accept our apologies"

That would have been so much better given the circumstances.
I am sure she is surrounded with love and will make a full recovery

43ontherocksporfavor · 22/03/2024 19:32

Exactly.

You are missing the point entirely, and goadingly so. This thread is not remotely fawning, it's about calling out the bullshit that's been written on these boards for days about some so-called KP conspiracy theory.

Instead of not as well as a faked photo. That is what blew the situation out of control.

I am now fascinated by how this plays out. Mn is just lol.
