Surely with hindsight you can see the comms team did nothing wrong? They put out a statement saying she had surgery and was due back at work after Easter. After that she got her diagnosis and, as she said in her statement, her priority was helping her children and family wrap their heads around it. The diagnosis wasn't the comms teams news to share - it was hers, and she clearly didn't want the wider public to know, as is her right. Now, her hand forced, she's updated that initial statement. No fucking conspiracy whatsoever.

ah, the fake photo? That is the comms team, they should never have done that. It did attract more attention, that is the reasons this blew up to extraordinary levels. I think this announcement was planned regardless of what the media or social were saying.

loobylou10 · 22/03/2024 18:50

The silence is deafening from many of you - time for a name change eh? Idiots.

Mirabai · 22/03/2024 18:50

WolfFoxHare · 22/03/2024 18:42

You’re displaying a lack of empathy by posting endless screeds to prove that you, unlike other foolish trusting idiots, knew ‘there was something wrong!!!’ Anyone with a normal emotional range would be thinking ‘God, was I twat with my endless nitpicking and criticism of the Palace PR team who were obviously doing their best while trying not to give anything away that she didn’t want to give away? Did I feed into the media frenzy that has meant she felt obliged to publish a touched up photo of herself then a video revealing the private medical details she obviously didn’t want to reveal?’ Maybe consider whether some self reflection instead of self justification is needed.

I’ve asked a couple of times what the KP team could have done better and the answer always seems to have been ‘Share more medical details, have her show herself in bed reading cards, have her do a video’ when it’s plain she didn’t want to, and now we all know why. How would you have done a better job, under the circumstances?

Edited

Do stop telling me I lack empathy it’s ridiculous. You might pause for your own self-reflection, and consider why you need to keep going on at me. People have different perspectives and you just need to accept it.

Oh, so you know for sure that the comms team knew that she'd done a bit of photoshop touching up before giving it to them? That she told them specifically she'd done it? No, you don't.

ArcaneWireless · 22/03/2024 18:52

oh enough, nobody would be happy a mother of 3 has cancer.

Happy enough to speak absolute shite about them for weeks though. And her husband.

Who must be feeling as though he has the world on his shoulders with both his wife and father being ill with cancer.

I think you’ll find the majority of people were saying ‘She’s recovering from surgery, she should be left in peace’. Few people were saying ‘there’s nothing wrong’ - she’d had surgery involving a 2 week stay in hospital and an estimated 3 month recovery period. It was pretty obvious something wasn’t right. People were just pointing out the crazy speculation about her health, her marriage and her mental state, with the many implications she was lying or having plastic surgery, was unsavoury.

Banging on as though you’re the only one who saw the light and the rest of us are naive fools for respecting her privacy isn’t making you look clever, it’s making you look really unpleasant and is showing you have zero empathy.

Indeed.

I'm so ashamed of how some people have behaved on MM and SM over the past few weeks. It really has been illuminating to see and not in a good way.

The poor woman only ever deserved compassion. I hope she is given that now.

Tetchypants · 22/03/2024 18:52

Bloody hell, poor Kate. Poor William, poor kids. Imagine being basically forced to talk about your horrible medical news just to satisfy the thirst of gossips.

I echo what plenty of others have already said; some of you should be feeling really ashamed of yourselves right now. You are no better than playground bullies, taunting, bitching and prodding for a reaction. I really hope @MNHQ pull every sorry thread.

'I called it right.'???

Who the fuck says such a thing when a young women announces she has cancer?

An ignorant buffoon devoid of empathy and dignity that's who.

It really isn’t ridiculous. You’ve behaved badly and now you are doubling down.

RachelWalshsDog · 22/03/2024 18:53

Pull the thread MN.

It's disgusting behaviour.

Enough about bloody comms teams. Who cares

Minutewaltz · 22/03/2024 18:54

Maybe the “appalling media management” was down to the fact that it was a rapidly changing situation and people didn’t know what to do or how to “manage it” as you put it.

Smilesy I absolutely agree with you. However I fear there are posters on here for whom any bad news or criticism about the royal family gives them pleasure

Yes. As well as triumphing in their "correctness" that they knew something was seriously wrong. As if the rest of us who believed she had abdominal surgery and was recovering and to give her time didn't think there was something wrong. And as if the "something wrong" they thought she had wasn't intimated to be something awful done to her at the hands of her husband. Fuck this gaslighting.

AliceOlive · 22/03/2024 18:56

Being an American, I never considered myself a royalist but after watching Catherine’s video I can see the appeal.

She is an amazing woman. We don’t see people like this enough anymore. I thought that kind of strength died with HMQ.

Well quite derxa

Only those with a nasty agenda cared to bleat about it constantly anyway.

It doesn’t matter. Not now.

Tetchypants · 22/03/2024 18:56

BBC: The palace also said Prince William's sudden absence from a memorial service on 27 February was because of the discovery of Catherine's cancer diagnosis.

So there you go. They were in pieces.

She didn't do it. I don't think any of the poor management has anything to do with her, as I have repeatedly said. King Charles' team managed his situation very well, and KP didn't.

Gosh no with hindsight they did everything wrong. I used to work in the media, and they made rookie textbook errors. This isn’t about sharing diagnosis - but about effectively shielding her until such a time as it was appropriate. Which wasn’t successful.

I never speculated on divorce, dv pregnancy, aliens etc - the photos were faked though that was a fact - hence the kill notice. That was what alerted some people to the fact that something was not right, despite all the self-righteous ranting that everything was fine and she would turn out up at Easter as if nothing and happened.

"Self righteous ranting" - are you actually for real??!!!
