Well, having gone through this crap in US elections, I can take a guess. I mentioned an article in The Hill a few weeks ago where the authors warned that efforts were being made to destabilize the UK government. I've also posted an article before on Mumsnet about social media on a pulled thread.

@MrsFinkelstein There was lots of speculation on MN Royal Family board and other places where the Royal Family are discussed. It was not mainstream until the faked photo. My DD had heard nothing about the controversy until the faked photo. Then it was on mainstream news, newspapers, and all over Tik Tok. Everyone knows now. The faked photo was the game changer.

The real people in the dock are the KP comms team. Tabloids and SM are just doing what they always do. The PR whole approach has been a debacle. Releasing a doctored photo that gets killed; failing to address the rising tide of wild speculation in the media; then the clumsy and unlikely statement of someone who claimed to have seen them (were the comms team involved in the placing of that story who knows); then appearing both to endorse and not endorse some equivocal footage. Is it them or isn’t it. Did KP endorse it or not. Were they implicated in its release or not.

If anything is likely to fuel theories that Kate has been abducted by aliens or victim of a plot to put David Beckham on the throne - it would be their approach. They have created and fanned the flames of this entire situation by incompetent management.

They are saying unverified on all news channels. It has not been confirmed by KP.

Kensington Palace COULD confirm the footage - but the silence continues- and they have not.

They spoke about the coma rumours - ridiculous apparently. Addressed all kinds of other speculation but on this - we are now on Wednesday - radio silence again.

That posters point is valid across the board. Kate’s surgery absence only blew up into a massive national story when the photo was posted. Her comms team created this mess.

There was certainly speculation before that, I never claimed that there wasn’t but the crazy global speculation only really heated up after the photo was released along with the kill notice that soon came along with it. At that point the RF lost all trust and credibility
