Reasons I can think of why KP won't "verify" the farmers' market video.

  1. The video was taken while W&K were going about their private business. They do this (go about their private business) all the time. Cricketer, Kevin Pietersen tweeted yesterday that he sees them around all the time doing regular stuff. People probably do take pictures of them, but the press won't usually print them because to do so would probably violate their own code of conduct and would be an intrusion into their private lives (which they are allowed to have, as enshrined by human rights law). In the case of this video, the press has printed stills and links to the video, because the furore has given them a public interest reason to do so. More on that in point 4.
  2. The video was taken by some random. It's not something that KP can verify as an accurate document. All they can verify is whether or not W&K were at the farmers' market at the time the video was allegedly taken.
  3. There are probably very good security reasons why KP will not be verifying where they were during their private outings at any given time. On top of their right to a private life, I imaging it makes the lives of the security team infinitely more difficult if this sort of information is being sought and verified and a precedent set that this will happen again and again. It could lead to hoards of people descending onto places they think they may be able to glimpse/ film the two of them. Their security can probably currently blend into the crowd as other shoppers (or general members of the public) rather than standing over them and not being able to give them any breathing space for fear of harm. They won't be able to stand off them and give them a bit of freedom if members of the public are looking for them and deem them to be fair game. There's a good chance that a KP verification of some random's recorded images of W&C would be deemed by the press to take a private situation (going on a shopping trip) out of the private sphere and into the public one, and therefore into the headlines.
  4. It would be unprecedented, I believe, for KP to verify a third party, unauthorised recording of the royals going about their private lives, whatever the background circumstances. So, KP has the decision. Do they verify this famers' market video, and end up expected to verify every recording because of whatever furore is going on in the background, real or manufactured? We can see, there is no let up over Catherine and there will not be any let up even when she returns to public life, because these speculations are too lucrative to all who push them, so you can guarantee there will be the manufacture of future "scandals" concerning her. If they do verify this time, is this the slippery slope to W&K (and others in the RF) having zero rights to privacy and a massive security headache to contend with?

My point was people in US around me don’t consider it current affairs. That was used to suggest I’m home bound or have no life, no friends. Which is really fucked if you think about people who truly are living in those circumstances being mocked on an outlet they depend upon for personal interaction.

The UK monarchy is not irrelevant to the US. The monarch is the head of state of the UK and currently sick. His son and his wife, who is currently the subject of unprecedented harassment is the next head of state of the UK. We are supposed to be the US's closest ally (or one of them). This sort of destabilising shit (destabilising confidence in an institution integral to constitutional governance) is the stuff that Russian and Chinese want to push to damage these types of international relationships. This is not mere gossip.
