I think the problem really is that a republican debate is a valid question to be exploring . It’s just a question of context and method. I think launching it off an individual’s illness is a bit off. The truth is most of the time I have no idea what Kate is up to on any given day, and it really doesn’t impact me. If truth be told I wouldn’t have noticed she was even “ missing” these past months had it not been for the media furore, and I’m sure the vast majority of the public are the same. That in itself might be a point of interest in a republican debate. But hounding her and demanding details of her illness as well as counting the time off ( and throwing in uncharitable rumours of divorce etc) is not a civilised or intelligent basis for any such debate. It comes across as victimisation - and as such actually devalues the debate itself.

I just laughed and told him she was seen out and about this weekend by the press and it's all nonsense. I don't go on X , so no idea what's going on there!
