Harry and Meghan are so petty and bitter

BigFluffyHoodie · 15/03/2024 10:30

They knew that announcing Meghan's new venture would be big news. So they dropped it 45 minutes before William was due to speak yesterday evening. At an awards ceremony dedicated to harry and William's mother's memory.

But that wasn't good enough. Oh no. They then announced the winner of their own awards. While the Diana awards were still going on and Prince William was handing out prizes.

Is there no level this petty, bitter couple won't sink to?!

@ChVrches The royals board prompts my frequent name changes more than AIBU: I get drawn in, post a lot, but I don’t want to get “seen” and labelled in the way certain posters here get. I find the pick pick picking at recognised posters a bit much, when ultimately what we all think of the royal circus doesn’t matter much – it’s bread and circuses, posting on Mumsnet isn’t going to change it, and 5-6 posters relentlessly questioning someone like they’re Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight is really weird. Like, is Roussette going to suddenly fling her hands up and say “You got me! Meghan IS a twat, my mistake! Thanks for the relentless hounding, I’ve seen the error of my ways.”

I don't think the person was looking for the poster Roussette to say that the Duchess of Sussex was a twat. I think they were asking her whether any Royal visit to a charity is a good thing. That was my interpretation.

Walkingwashingmachine · 17/03/2024 18:44

Oh cool your boots. Roussette is clearly perfectly able to stick to her guns. It's not serious. It's mumsnet.

That’s exactly my point! It’s a boredom board for chatting shit about shite, but sometimes it reads like you’re all trying to Elle Woods another poster into submission. Let her live! And my comment that Roussette got as many pile-ons as Kate and Meghan combined was also not fully serious in the first place – it’s not mathematically possible.

Nah. It's just a discussion. If you make a point that people disagree with, be prepared to argue your point (if you can be bothered). There may be more than one person who disagree with you. Roussette did fine. That's just what this is. Nothing else. Nothing to worry about @mardylookingfrump

ChVrches · 17/03/2024 18:53

@mardylookingfrump I'm sure the poster Roussette will be able to defend herself. She has instructed me on how it works on here - what you can say and can't say and about the T and G. She has said several times that you can report anything to Mumsnet Towers so I imagine she is doing so. In fact I reported two posts myself today so am learning the ropes.

MarmaladeMarkle · 17/03/2024 18:53

Maybe we should go back to cracking the jokes for the ‘serotonin’ hit. Was a lot more fun

mardylookingfrump · 17/03/2024 18:53

Thank you for the weird reassurance that everything is fine that I didn’t ask for, @Walkingwashingmachine Weird flex but OK

What on earth do you think I am reporting? I am not reporting anything.
So please don't suggest otherwise.

I wasn’t trying to cause a problem or elicit an admission that Meghan is a twat. I asked a perfectly reasonable question about the value of charity work by Meghan v other RF members. The actual question still hasn’t been answered.

I think someone who posts prolifically in a highly opinionated way and who finds themselves being frequently challenged to the point of feeling picked on would do well to consider what it is that they are contributing to the situation. I think this is a discussion forum isn’t it?

Could you? I quite enjoyed that

No pile on, just a discussion. I find it interesting that someone who identifies as republican is noting the value of royal visits. I just wanted to confirm that. It is a bit surprising, but she is entitled to an opinion.

Interestingly my post that has derailed us down this discussion about discussion WAS a joke! Facking hell. Anyway, can confirm (not re this thread, usually on AIBU) you can also get a serotonin hit from hammering the report button and later seeing the post deleted; it’s what keeps me coming back.

A joke? My mistake.

It looked like a lecture 🤷🏽‍♀️

I can't say I would enjoy censoring free speech QUITE so much but I haven't read 1984 for some years now.

Salemforcuddles · 17/03/2024 19:07

@Mugglewumppp We are missing out, can you make jam by any chance?

MarmaladeMarkle · 17/03/2024 19:09

Bloody hell, Kate Moss on the bandwagon too! The market really is ‘jam-packed’

IsoldeWagner · 17/03/2024 19:10

They're all thinking that what lets them coin it in now won't last forever. Jam tomorrow.

Are you sure it’s been that long? Because that’s quite an “A-level politics” riposte

Why thank you. The mind is still young!
