Spanish press reporting Kate was extremely ill

I don’t know how credible this is because I saw it on Twitter…

But apparently the media in Spain have reported that Catherine’s surgery was not actually planned, did not go smoothly and she was actually very sick/possibly in a coma for a period of time. And there has been a press blackout in the UK.

Could there be any truth in this? I’m struggling to see WHY something like that would be ‘hidden’ anyway 🤔

Her reputation now is quite damaged although she still claims that her sources are legit

Wouldn't you? rather than admit you'd been had and hadn't checked your sources thoroughly?

Lots of people endure uterine repair surgery and hysterectomy. They don’t go into hiding for 3 months. A good friend of mine had a uterine repair and she was back at work within a fortnight. Kate’s jobs are turning up somewhere staying a short time then leaving again. There’s no heavy lifting, or eight hours on her feet.

Her time off seems a bit tone deaf.

Give your friend this from all us women who have had abdominal surgeries and couldn’t get back to work so quickly 🏅

That's got a touch of the Sir Humphrey

Bernard "there's a rumour X has done Y"
Sir H " that's true"
Bernard "you mean X really has done y?"
Sir H "no, mean it's true there's a rumour"

Brilliant this has made me chuckle

Epidote · 13/03/2024 14:00

@User14March about queen Elizabeth death. Someone open a thread in the many social medias full of rubbish platforms and the rumour spread on a well known young lads forum. Press did not say a thing.

They said in January she's having surgery, will be in hospital for up to two weeks and won't be doing public duties until after Easter. What has changed?

They released a photo with her head super-imposed in it 🤷‍♀️(and said it was taken last week)

Most likely explanation is she has had surgery to treat a prolapse after 3 pregnancies. Mundane, but not exactly the kind of thing you want to broadcast - I certainly wouldn’t want the state of my pelvic floor being discussed worldwide!

My understanding is that sort of surgery take a fair while to recover from - hence the extended time away from the public.

That's an odd jump to type of surgery.

I have had 4 pregnancies, no prolapse. Many friends have 3+ kids no prolapses.

I did have surgery over a decade ago and didn't tell anyone except DH and my boss. It was a partial mastectomy for sarcoma. I'm not ashamed of it but I didn't want people gossiping about me and inevitably blowing it into some massive doomsday thing and flapping on about me 'dying of cancer' (which I wasn't at any point, they simply cut it off and it was gone... simple).

Luckily I'm not famous so no one greatly noticed or cared but people guessing and gossiping is exactly WHY they are likely not telling people.

Catsfrontbum · 13/03/2024 14:07

Her photo was a composite image from various sources. Her face is from the vogue cover.

So…. She’s not quite well enough for snaps and outings and little cutie vids of her opening well wishes cards. KP do not owe us more of an explanation than what they gave originally. However the pics released (car/TMZ, faked mum pic/KILL NOTICE, last one of no face with William) are all kinds of madness and it would seem the well oiled machine that’s KP is not in control.

Does it mean anything? I think it probably does- Kate is probably a bit iller than they want us to know. And it’s all unraveling.

She is not dead or in a coma or anything else. She’s recovering. But they should have kept the messaging coherent. They didn’t and now it looks all messy!

Diamondcurtains · 13/03/2024 14:07

How would the Spanish media know? I can’t fathom why this is such a big deal. She’s had surgery, she’s recovering, she’ll be out of action for a while, end of story.

mardylookingfrump · 13/03/2024 14:08

Of course her face isn’t from the Vogue cover 🤦🏻‍♀️

Indeed - nothing to be ashamed of, but PRIVATE. Of course you didn't want gossip, or pity , or whatever.

Your business and no-one else's.

The only time illness needs to be made known outside immediate family is if (say) you have something horrible and very contagious, then you'd have responsibility to warn anyone you'd been in contact with.

Edited because I'd missed the "h" off "had" and looked as common as muck8

*joke - it just annoyed me

I had a posterior and anterior prolapse during my first delivery caused by keilland forceps. The surgery was done under heavy sedation and I had w weeks off if work. It’s not major surgery.

All this global hysteria and speculation shows how popular and important our dear, dear Kate is to the public and RF.

Hopefully she’ll be back in a few weeks, fully recovered and once again, her beautiful and regal self.

I bet Rachel is spitting feathers across the pond.

CantDealwithChristmas · 13/03/2024 14:15

Stephen Colbert on The Late Show (One of the US's last national prime time progrmames that still pulls real numbers and provides the proverbial watercooler moments in the office the next day) had a whole section last night about William's alleged affair with Rose Hanbury. That would never've happened five years ago, even the US media was fairly deferential (mostly out of respect for the Queen).

So I think the curtain is starting to fall on whatever is really going on at KP. and by the end of this week it'll all be out in the open.

Freakinfraser · 13/03/2024 14:18

I suspect there is a media black out on Kate in the uk in terms of her recovery, but they can do articles on say the photo manipulation or William going to an event with her beside him in the car. And of course the palace wanted that photo to be seen.

i think there is a media blackout and there is something they all want to say and can’t.

For goodnesss sake leave her alone to convalesce in private

Re the Vogue story - The BBC had Prof Hany Farid on the other day. He specialises in analysis of digital images and is Dean of School of Information at Berkeley. He said to the BBC 'there is nothing to suggest C's face was added in after the photo was taken'

No idea, but it's said one of their nannies is Spanish and she went home during that time. Make of that what you may.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 13/03/2024 14:22

OP

Many thanks for the very serious ROFL job!!! The "Spanish press" LOL

Did they quote an "named source" LOL, ROFL

HRH had a major op and that is a fact. Another fact is that HRH has been advised to rest, go on sick leave until at least Easter.

Wishing HR a speedy recovery as any op is worrying and especially a major op.

Yes there is a media blackout. Journos are getting antsy. They can't report on things that are being reported about across Europe and US and gossiped about all over social media.

It's making them look like cap-doffing jobsworths and they don't like it.

All it's going to take is one publication to break the blackout and then all will follow suit. I give it until the weekend.

whirlyhead · 13/03/2024 14:24

People really have got too much time on their hands... OP, haven't you got an oven that needs cleaning, as mine does if you have a spare half an hour (as I assume you do!)
