Spanish press reporting Kate was extremely ill

I don’t know how credible this is because I saw it on Twitter…

But apparently the media in Spain have reported that Catherine’s surgery was not actually planned, did not go smoothly and she was actually very sick/possibly in a coma for a period of time. And there has been a press blackout in the UK.

Could there be any truth in this? I’m struggling to see WHY something like that would be ‘hidden’ anyway 🤔

Not blaming Charles at all but I think his transparency is also a huge reason as to why this Kate story got so big.

We don't know a lot about his cancer. We don't even know what type of cancer he has but he's kept the public updated. He shared photos, we saw him on engagements recently.

People probably thought that if Charles, who's battling cancer, is being visible, then why isn't Kate? Her condition might be worse than we realise.

I am increasingly frustrated by the assumption by some that if it's "not cancer" then the alternative is mild. In fact even the fact the press sought/got the assurance it's "not cancer " is utterly baffling. There are so many desperately serious /life limiting conditions that aren't cancer. And some cancers are very treatable.

I will never forget getting a devastating life limiting diagnosis the same week someone in my group of school friends had (easily treatable) pre Cancerous changes and everyone rallied round her like she was going to die imminently. Meanwhile I genuinely was hovering on the edge of an ICU admission that week and live with a disabling condition and horrible medication for life and a very likely much shorter life and think people have asked me about my health a handful of times.

Be honest: it’s the bottom repair that’s hooked your interest isn’t it.

You thought it was a Kate thread and then: voila!!!

Quacking4it · 13/03/2024 19:19

😂

Lilacanemone · 13/03/2024 19:20

Now it’s going to be all over the internet that Kate’s had bottom repair.

Stringagal · 13/03/2024 19:21

OrangeVelour · 13/03/2024 19:07

You say that with some certainty. How do you know?

I don’t know if it’s true but I can see it’s a possibility. Bowel surgery is not something anyone would particularly want to shout about. And weight loss is a common symptom of Crohns.

It takes weeks and weeks to recover from a hemicolectomy, plus possible complications from colostomy bag and/or infection. Another op potentially for stoma reversal. The palace said she’d be out of action for around 3 months which is how long you’d be advised to take off work.

So let’s just say Kate has had an operation of that sort of magnitude, it’s perfectly reasonable for KP to have said she was out of action until Easter.

Problem is our press and the Daily Mal type readers (you know who you are) have been baying for blood and insinuating all kinds of shite to provoke a response.

Fucking despicable.

Bottoms are supposed to have a crack down them.

Ask any bumologist.

Ahh! Thanks. Is it a good book ? ( casting about for suggestions …)

It’s a TV show. All on iplayer if you want to try it!

Says the person on a Kate thread 😂

How can I not be? Every thread I see is a fucking Kate thread!

Salemforcuddles · 13/03/2024 19:25

It must be terrible being forced to read and reply on threads you’re just not interested in. Are you ok? Who’s controlling you? Shall we stage an intervention? Blink once for yes or twice for no. Hand hold.

Mirabai · 13/03/2024 19:29

But I don't for a second believe every person involved has kept totally quiet

Of course not. To add my gossip from an ex palace contact - he said Kate had surgery to separate gynae organs from colon, I asked if he meant hysterectomy, but he didn’t know. He also said KC’s cancer was worse than let on.

He doesn’t work there any more, but he knows people who do. I’ve no idea how good his info is now and I’m don’t set any particular store by it.

I cannot express my relief. Mine’s been ripped vertically my whole life and I didn’t want to mention it.

I'm a HCP in a one horse rural town. I was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of years ago and after surgery had 4 months off. The diagnosis process takes time and since it was my right breast, I had lymph node removal and there is a high risk of picking up undesirable infections, my surgeon strongly advised that I stay off work until fully recovered.
Once all the results were in and they decided I didn't need chemo, I completed radio and returned to work 3 weeks later.

Obviously a lot of patients had to be cancelled and since we didn't know when I would be fit to work (it would have been out of the question on chemo). I didn't feel it necessary to broadcast why I was off or when I would be back, but my god did the rumour mill fire up.

My DH had messages from friends who are patients asking what was wrong with me. People were making up stories, one thread had me six foot under or close to it.

The POW experience is exponentially worse.

It is no one else's business, if or when she is ready I'm sure she will open up about it. Not only is she protecting her own privacy but that of her immediate family, particularly her children who are at school and will probably be fielding questions from the children of over invested parents.

When you are recovering from major surgery the last this you need is the Spanish Inquisition.

Why is it so important that we know? No one speculated this much about the Queen, who was very obviously very ill in the last 12mnths of her life.

I am fully recovered from surgery and treatment and I am now able to talk about my experience, at the time it was devastating and all I wanted to do was protect my DH and DC from intrusive and potentially emotional cross examination.

The Spanish bullshit has been on TikTok for weeks it's not new.
