Agree with you. Have also worked in the media and the manipulation of the public from the Royals (and the media when it suits them) has gone on for decades. It reminds me of what is happening in politics at the moment. Trump/johnson/Farage/Sunak etc have all manipulated and lied to the public. The public are starting to wake up and have had enough. This is why whatever is going on with Kate, has caused so much angst. The public aren’t falling for it anymore.

Everyone tries to manipulate the media

‘Spin’ became popular under Labour

Sussex squad are celebrating Kate’s online bullying. I wonder what Harry and Meghan's take is. Are they responding with empathy or glee?

If KP is going with “nothing to see here” why would the children be absent from school. It makes no sense. Surely they would be in school as usual, doing their usual extracurricular stuff, socialising, sticking to a routine. Keeping them away from school would unsettle them.

They would be fine at school. I’m sure good limits are in place

It’s just people outside the setting speculating

I think deep down that many (not all by any means) take pleasure in the misfortune of others - Schadenfreude - particularly where that person/family/group is privileged and/or rich and arrogant.

Do you not recall the increase of talk about spin under Blair?

It was definitely a topic of public discussion

CurlewKate · 13/03/2024 10:51

@EasternStandard "They would be fine at school. I’m sure good limits are in place"

There it is again! It's a private school so their little friends aren't going to relay what they read on SM to them, even if they don't have access themselves.

Namerchanger1 · 13/03/2024 10:53

The Spanish press is reporting that Kate has been in a coma, intubated and wasn’t expected to survive. apparently there is a black out for UK media

“Apparently” even people with a fragile grip on reality are able to post on social media

Yes, not least because lots of journalists hated Alistair Campbell, who'd treated many of them like shite when he was a senior journo

Whereas Tim Bell and Bernard Ingham were by all accounts lovely to their press contacts so less likely to become the story and complained about as spin doctors

Well yes there it is again as I expect you can’t really say from experience. Why is school different to any other setting anyway, do you think the dc should not have contact with people? In fact the school probably has more limits than outside it.

One thing private schools have is contracts and the outcome of breaching them.

Children are children. Many will have access to social media at home if not at school. Many will pass on what they've read to the Wales children. Whatever setting they are in. If they were my children they would definitely be home with very carefully chosen friends to play with.

LoreleiG · 13/03/2024 11:08

Just to recap, so Kate is either in a coma, organising her imminent divorce, homeschooling her children, or had plastic surgery (defo not major abdominal surgery). Have I missed anything?

Surely, surely they'll call it out, I mean Harry expected everyone to do the same for him?! We will surely get a light shining authentic speech winging it's way to us poor UK plebs sometime soon!

The whole thing will blow over. Once again the rf will prove that not rising to online hysteria and bullying is the best way forward.

'This is why whatever is going on with Kate, has caused so much angst. The public aren’t falling for it anymore'

She's had an op, they told us. She is recuperating, they told us that too. She edited a family snap, it really is no biggie. Someone on another thread likened it to photoshoppimg Putin on to a picture at the palace. Just beyond batshit.

No, it gained a new name then maybe, and became more open/talked about, but the idea that it was new is bonkers.
