I thought that when Private Eye was quoted. It’s a spoof/satirical publication. A piss take magazine, if you like x

Private Eye may be satire but it definitely isn't a piss take.

Mirabai · 13/03/2024 13:45

Absolutely. The cringe Caribbean tour would have had very different optics if H&M had been sent. The couple could have been used to the RF advantage.

It’s particularly piss poor management to let a disgruntled ex employees go rogue and brief against the global brand.

If they’d been kept on the pay roll you can be sure there would have been uproar about it. You can’t have the tax payer funding a pair of egocentric lazybones living in another country for the rest of their lives.

Anyone noticed, the photo of them in the car, with the bricks behind. They don't match. Photoshopped again?

EasternStandard · 13/03/2024 13:53

RoyalDramaLlama · 13/03/2024 13:49

Because of the gossip. Not because Kate going missing for 3 months is going to mean no more visits to nurseries until Easter. I don't know if everyone list their heads. I only noticed it really going wild about a week ago after William missed that memorial at the last minute.

People were talking about it. Think there were some threads with ‘where is she’ which were funny

But yeh it was picking up demand hence media loving cashing in on the whole thing

Private Eye often reveal scandals that the msm don't touch. They have been talking about the Post Office scandal for at least a decade. They are far more than a spoof magazine.

I was wondering about that yesterday, but no. The photographer gave the address he took the photo from and it checks out on street view (well so others say I haven't bothered to check). That photo looks legit, if prearranged.

Gloriosaford · 13/03/2024 13:54

If William wants privacy and doesn't want to do as much work, he needs to transform the monarchy into a less costly Scandi style monarchy. Fewer people, fewer staff, fewer houses, less pomp and raiding dressing up boxes
I agree but I don't think he'll be able to accept that, William believes he has a right to deference and the wealth and privilege. He believes he ought to be able to have his cake and eat it.
He won't want to make any concessions, won't want to accept that he has to adjust himself to take into account the fact that are very few deferential cap doffers left.
Why would he, a member of the elite, give any thought for the feelings of us peasants? In his mind we are inferior underlings not worthy of any consideration, we are there to serve and obey, to be seen but not heard.

The spot the pic was taken from, per the photographer. Theory debunked.

I meant if they’d stayed here as part of the RF.

I don’t see K&W doing that much work, Kate does approx 25% of Princess Anne.

The middle pages are the spoofs. The front section is for very well-sourced news and investigations that the MSM tend not to touch. The back is for corporate and local government scandals.

This article is from the front bit

Countrylife2002 · 13/03/2024 13:59

Private eye are usually right on the money.

how interesting. And also sad. Sounds like a split then? I don’t understand why they’re covering it up though.

There was a clear explanation for that one given elsewhere. When you see a full shot, the brickwork that doesn't match belongs to a wall in front of the building.

ETA Beaten to it by Stringagal.

William already supposedly called Kate the "Duchess of Doolittle" because of her apparent lack of public engagements.

Prince William's savage nickname for Kate Middleton inspired by the Queen

Prince William and Kate Middleton might have fabulous royal titles, but it seems in the privacy of their own home the pair have some very interesting nicknames for each other

@Stringagal I
https://www.businessinsider.com/kate-middleton-photo-editor-reacts-digital-manipulation-wire-removal-astonishing-2024-3

Also this says Kate's right hand may have been inserted into the photo
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13181935/Prince-William-AI-tool-sloppy-editing-Palace-staff-series-pictures-spliced-create-perfect-family-portrait-Photographers-reveal-think-REALLY-went-wrong-Kates-Mothers-Day-photo.html

No one knows if this is what happened, but this is why the press agencies asked to see the original photo so they could see if things had been added as they suspected. The Palace refused to release the original photo. If it was just bad photoshopping then releasing the photo would have quickly cleared this up.

If you google as I did a few days ago what edits had been made you find some articles with only a few edits and some articles with many suspected edits.

Whatever it is, KP are clearly determined to keep "Buck House" out of it, so it doesn't bode well.

The fact that so few people have "seen" Kate is also slightly alarming imo.

Off topic but I'm quite sad at how many posters here don't seem to know what Private Eye is or how important it is! I mean I know it's not as good as it used to be but still...

How can you claim to understand the UK media landscape if you don't read Private Eye once in a while?!?

Private Eye may be satire but it definitely isn't a piss take.

So it didn’t take the piss out of Denis Thatcher in the 80s then. I think you’ll find it did.

Sparetoes · 13/03/2024 14:02

Private Eye is top quality, honest journalism, often revealling important stories other publications are scared to publish. They have their spoofs too, but that is absolutely not what they are.

Are certain publications compulsory?

It seems people can’t agree on whether it’s spoof or not anyway

Either way loading it all on to that blurb below is bonkers

Grin. It's gossip just like the News of the World but with posh people running it.
