The royal family

Do the Royal Family just think we are really really stupid?

Just that really. From Harry’s car chase to Prince Andrew being at a Pizza Express kid’s party.

And now we’re supposed to believe that the country’s biggest PR machine in the middle of a media storm just let Prince William take a casual Mothers Day pic on his iPhone, let the missus edit it and then post it to the world?

😒

But do you think it was left to the queen to edit that photo?

The weirdness comes from them making out that this was just a casual home snap.

The world’s media have been going crazy for a glimpse of her so I’m pretty sure they would have at least had a conversation about what the first public image should be.

Does this seem plausible?

PR Team: The world’s going mad. We should just put a picture out to show Kate’s fine.

Kate: I’m not ready to be seen on camera because of insert whatever reason.

PR Team: Ok well we’ll just do an edited one like we did with the queen.

Kate: Ok great… out of all our expert royal photographers and editors, who shall we get?

PR Team: You?

William: Great…I’ll get the camera.

I assume she still wants privacy, and don’t care enough to speculate beyond that.

There are some that want to 'see her' and a lot of those people seem to be royal fans too. However some people were just saying, what about a few messages from her. Why isn't William working more/ etc A photo taken at a different time would of been fine for Mothers Day.
I asked a professional who has been using photoshop for decades, it's unlikely she edited this herself. It would be absolutely adequate for an advertising campaign, so a pro doing it would of thought it was fine. But someone who does this for a living isn't doing it to forensic level. Our friend said it would be unlikely to have been photoshopped by Kate herself. The issue is, and everybody analysing it in the media has said as much without actually saying it, is that Kates head as been added or switched, on this image. Thats a level of deception thats unnecessary and unacceptable.

I'm beginning to think that it's all about pressure from within the Royal Family ,though goodness knows who .
It would be perfectly possible to stick to original script - away until Easter and the effective never comment ,never explain .
It's not poor Catherine being bullied by the plebs ,it's poor Catherine being ground up by The Machine .
They wanted her to co operate with a Mothering Sunday pic ,she said no ,so they deliberately released a pic which they knew wouldn't fly .And made her take the fall for it .
Also explains that ridiculous non pic of her yesterday in the car with William .She was told she had to appear ,she had no choice but to agree so went through the motions but scuppered it by turning her head away .
Reminds me of Diana's and Meghan's complaints about how they were bullied .

Yes.

Anyononmo1 · 12/03/2024 10:12

I think the freemasons think we are all stupid and we're part of the on going genocide that's happening on our planet. They have no right to kill anyone and should feel the full brunt of the law. Including the perv that is one of them.

Yes.

And of course the Machine (or should that be the wolves to which they are fed) is the media industry and the mob which it sells to.

aliceinthecities · 12/03/2024 10:21

I had an epiphany! It's not (just) that the Royal Family think we are stupid. THEY are much more stupid that we realise or are prepared to accept.

I don't understand the fuss about the photo. Why is this news?

People are trying to blow it into something far bigger than it really is as a chance to paint the RF as “ liars.”

I think it’s unfortunate the way it’s been handled but I don’t think there’s any more “ lying” involved than just the fact that they wanted to put out a photo to answer pressure for one - and there has been pressure - that wouldn’t have people commenting negatively on how the children look traumatised, Catherine looks rough etc etc.

In hindsight they should have sat for a professional photographer and released the original and I’m sure in the greater scheme of illness etc Catherine would look more than decent regardless. But I understand her feeling targeted by the intense scrutiny and I’ve always taken their “ photo by Catherine or William” habit to be an attempt to look family snap-ish so they may have felt that was the right thing.

I just think whatever axes people have to grind about their taxes supporting them etc ( though, not, it would seem, costly photography sittings!) it’s an inappropriate time and topic to use for leverage on that when Catherine is trying to recuperate, KC is unwell, there has been a bereavement last week. They are public figures but they are also people and this sticking the boot in when they are vulnerable is nasty.

aliceinthecities · 12/03/2024 10:36

This is a cosy narrative. However, RF is an official institution who releases official communication to the world's news agencies. They are not cozy neighbours in the home counties who feel for our mates. To try to turn it into a little family thing is naive.

And I think they are possibly realising that, and maybe also that walking the “all too much like everyone else” line is a tricky one.

But “lying” is a strong allegation and quite different from “ badly handled.” And badly handled is much easier to achieve when you have hordes of people ready to pounce.

BenefitWaffle · 12/03/2024 10:40

@aliceinthecities I totally agree. And people are minimising the kill notice, it is a very big deal.

crumblingschools · 12/03/2024 10:41

And for those saying we didn't need a photograph we just wanted an update/message that she was okay, would that have satisfied the ghouls. Why would that statement be accepted as fact when a photo hasn't? Wouldn't people then be speculating why there wasn't a photo, did she really write that message, is she divorced, in a coma, dead!

FGS people were saying they are/going to be divorced just by looking at the photo of them in the car

Thisistyresome · 12/03/2024 10:44

So they put on an edited/composite image of her and the kids on instagram?

I find those who love to construct conspiracies or hate on her to be revealing a lot about themselves.

She is obviously more ill than they expected but don't want to discuss. If there was no speculation about her there would have probably been just an old photo posted.

Those with a desperate desire to know the details of other peoples medical suffering are weirdly goulish, it is odd to perform such behaviour so publicly.

Ha you only just realised that 😁 I’m not anti them per se but sometimes I shake my head at their lack of common sense.

Agree, from someone with the same level of experience. Most of the mistakes would not have been picked up if it weren't for the massive one with Charlotte's sleeve. I wrote earlier I think that was a layer visibility or masking mistake. The correct version was accidentally hidden or some layers got moved around. The remaining edits are quite sophisticated and totally fine for editorial use.

People also underestimate the time that would have taken. If you tally up all the areas that seem to have been Photoshopped, it's at least 4-8 hours of work using a graphics tablet. Not just the lasso tool and AI (Firefly is not advanced enough for the tiny areas in the image). I find it very hard to believe that Kate sat for an entire day on that photo "for fun", whilst recovering from surgery and with 3 kids in the house. It looks like something commissioned to a professional but with an extremely tight turnover. They had so many areas to edit that a few sloppy mistakes ended up sneaking in. I know that after a while you get "Photoshop fatigue" and you can't even tell if the image looks realistic enough because you've been staring at it for so long.

yup, you raised the points yesterday and today our friend did also. Its a lot of work... and then they stupidly forgot to scrub the metadata!

What a lot of hot air. Poor woman. It’s a photo of a mother with her children, not proof of life of hostages. Why the analysis? Just to kick her when she’s down. What a nasty crowd of people obsessing over this, implying ulterior meanings and motives. It is not a big deal, I cannot fathom why the media is making it so. For the first time since she came on the scene 20 odd years ago, I feel really, truly sorry for Kate. The mud slinging from the Montecito duo, accused of being a racist, never allowed to defend herself from it and now not even allowed to have surgery and recover in privacy without everyone wanting their pound of flesh. I’m sure this coverage has reduced her to tears at a vulnerable time in her life. What sort of people take glee from that? Drama queens, shit stirrers and republicans I guess.

LittleGlowingOblong · 12/03/2024 10:56

Look at these threads and decide whether they think we’re still really really stupid:

https://twitter.com/NdomitableNegro/status/1767375689693475003?s=20

To be clear: this is not about hounding a sick woman. A Mother’s Day tweet without a photo, or with a recent photo from last year, would have been just fine in the circumstances. I hope Kate’s at home in her jammies watching Loose Women and never opening social media.

It’s the thought of the staggering, repeated dishonesty; especially with the added suspicion that Kate and William have been living separate lives for some time now. The media are taking us for outright mugs.

Merrymouse · 12/03/2024 10:56

This is the Guardian:

“David McCoy, the imaging manager at the Guardian, said: “The first step in analysing this image is reading through the file’s embedded metadata to determine the photographic settings of the base camera image. In this case, we can see that a Canon 50mm f1.2 lens was used for this initial image, set to an aperture of f3.2, which will give moderately shallow depth of field.
“This leads me to believe that no one image would have had optimum sharpness across the required detail areas, so multiple frames were likely used to composite a more intended final result. Naturally, this also allows for idealised expressions from all members of the group.”

Merrymouse · 12/03/2024 10:59

It is not a big deal, I cannot fathom why the media is making it so.

Any picture of the Princess of Wales generates clicks and sells magazines and papers. Regardless of the surrounding comments/editorial, this is no exception.

Edited

On what basis do you claim they have been living separate lives for some time? What nonsense.

And of course the Machine (or should that be the wolves to which they are fed) is the media industry and the mob which it sells to.
@RoseAndRose My abdominal surgery didn't attract the media or any social comment ,not even when I restricted hospital visiting to 2 individuals .
There would be no media interest if the institution that is the Royal Family weren't hell bent on portraying themselves as some sort of mythical and untouchable construct that reigns supreme over us lesser mortals.
Without this nonsense the media and "the mob" who buy into the puffery ,wail over "poor Katherine "would have to concentrate on other fake celebrities .
Or even real ,horrifying news about Haiti ,Ukraine ,Gaza ,Afghanistan,Syria ..

crumblingschools · 12/03/2024 11:23

@LittleGlowingOblong people have been speculating she is in a coma or dead, how would posting a photo from last year stop those rumours, don’t you think that would have fuelled them more

People come to public attention for a variety of reasons though.

No-one (apart from their nearest and dearest) is remotely interested in Joe or Jane Bloggs' bodily information. And everyone should have that sort of privacy for their most intimate/family issues.

There is a proper public interest in the Royal Family, in relation to its constitutional and representational roles.

The insinuation that every part of their lives is up for unfettered comment and intrusion is very recent. And no more their doing than it was the doing of anyone else whose phone was hacked, or who were snapped by ultra long telephoto lenses, or had a tracker put on their car, or who just had the grisly count down to their 16th birthday
