And now we’re supposed to believe that the country’s biggest PR machine in the middle of a media storm just let Prince William take a casual Mothers Day pic on his iPhone, let the missus edit it and then post it to the world?

Those saying that KP shouldn’t have released a pic that had been Manipulated? I must be weird but I think it must not be the first time that they do this! Bet one of the times they’ve released pics done my Catherine to wish us something im sure some alterations have happened on the original pic. The only difference is that before people weren’t looking each single detail of the pics trying to look for hints as the press and public is looking for because they can’t wait for 3-4 months to see someone who was requested privacy to recover from an illness

The press have pulled this one though,which is a big deal and (to me) suggests that it's more misleading than just making sure everyone'slooking at the camera.

They’ve removed it because all the comments that were done after it was released. If so much speculation hadn’t been done on the day the press wouldn’t have done anything because nobody would have cared

Mad Brit here who couldn't care less about RF and has had precisely one conversation with OH about this edited photo. The reason we spoke about it at all was the fact that it all seems a bit odd. A photo was released of a high profile person to reassure "a curious public and dampen down the online rumours" (according to the BBC) and it is strangely edited and seems to have not been taken recently (and she isn't wearing her wedding ring). It was the situation we were commenting on. I haven't spoken to anyone else about it.

I have British friends and family who seem to think they all should be sanctified, others who think the RF are a bunch of overprivileged spongers, other who think the system is unfair (me) and others who are totally disinterested in the whole subject (OH).

They removed it because it was manipulated 26 times. Yes 26. With the major editing around Kate’s face and the kids hands. As the pixels have been compressed.

The forensic software can even see when it was taken (friday) when it was edited Friday evening and sat morning, and it is likely a composite image, ie part of it taken from other images. It was edited in photoshop on a Mac computer.

it is not some sloppy filter messing to make it look better. The agencies killed this as it is a major major edit which calls into question its authenticity.

the question is why. As I said on the other thread, this is now bordering on bizzare, and even I as the least conspiracy theorist ever, think something is wrong and being covered up.

Makes me value my anonymity. I’d hate for my every movement to be put under a huge spotlight, analysed and dissected by the press/social media.

All should be revealed in a few weeks if not sooner.

Be on the lookout for a big surprise though. Perhaps Catherine will be like Marlene from Only Fools and make her big entrance back to public life with big pointy new boobs.

Last week it was "if they'd just issue one photo/statement of thanks it'll all go away"

And people didn't just look, think nice/twee/glad she's up/wonder how long it took to get ready. It was absolutely scrutinised (and held to higher standard than the spliced twins or Harry's thickened hair). We know that it was the truth about when the photo was taken (so yes, grass and shrubs really do look like that) and that this was a composite/best shot of several pix taken at the same time - so they were all really sitting there.

But the base shots weren't "perfect" so the temptation was there to touch up. This is a family that spends significant effort satisfying the public demands about appearances ( look what happens to the Royals who don't play that game)

I don't think there is any way they'll do this "just one thing" because they know it won't go away.

This is overblown tabloid rubbish, they are all in a mega strop because a large part of their income relies on photos of the royals. Not home snaps, thanks, but photos from press photographers which earn bundles for all concerned apart from the royals. And the royals have not complied recently. I don't blame them.

People have a go at the RF for being rich for nothing but having privacy and anonymity to me is priceless. I wonder if she sometimes wishes she’d just married a rich banker or landowner.

It would be very much in their interests to push the thin end of the wedge "just" give us this one bit more and it'll all go away.

It all goes away when the press seek to stop normalising intrusion. Stop clamouring for pictures, and stop promoting the idea of this all being the Waleses fault for incompetence (no, they're not playing cat and mouse, they want no press attention for the Princess during her sick leave)

What is wrong or being covered up?

I think the most important point is that the Princess of Wales is sending a very clear message, which is: she does not wish the general public to see a full-on picture of her face as it is at present.

We need to respect that wish.

There were demands for both a photo for mother's day and also a more direct message of thanks (I saw them on here). So she sent a more personal message of thanks plus a photoshopped picture because she doesn't like how she looks at the moment. This gets found out - embarrassment ensues. So then there is a "paparazzi" photo issued which shows Prince William clearly in the car as proof, with a brief side view of Kate which you can tell is her but that's it. Because she doesn't want you to see her whole face at the moment.

If she wanted you to see her whole face at the moment, you would see it. Poor woman. Have none of you ever felt self-conscious and not wanted your photo taken?

I’m sure it just isn’t such a mystery. Kate is presumably not looking great right now. Everyone is desperate for the haggard post surgery shots. It’s just a woman no longer in the flush of first youth who is feeling poorly post op, is rightly putting recovery ahead of makeover, and is fully aware she gets scrutinised by the world media. In hindsight the delay in showing a picture of her has heightened curiosity, but curiosity was heightened, she knew it and felt defensive. It’s been edited in an attempt to release a nice photo where they all look happy and well, in what have now become fraught circumstances. She’s stepped up and apologised personally. I don’t think it’s a bigger deal than that. I’m pretty willing to bet money she’s still there ( and hasn’t had a gender change op, pawned one of the children then photoshopped them back in etc) .

Of course she’s still there for goodness sake. And she is more than right to stay out the public eye. But it is very naive to assume it’s just she looks a bit shit and can’t be arsed sitting there having her hair done and make up applied so has to hide her face, 8 weeks post surgery. No one is desperate for a haggard photo. Give over. It’s the lying and hiding that’s the issue.

But you’ve just admitted there’s no substantive lie. The majority of formal shots we see of anyone remotely concerned about the maintenance of their appearance are carefully presented. It’s all relative as to what constitutes a lie. Is wearing make up a lie?

No way is she "a poor woman",she's an adult with many many resources to help and protect her .
If she felt she had to release a fake picture of herself this was not because of the baying plebs it was because of pressure from The Firm .
And that's a whole other story .

Ok here's a crazy conspiracy but what if there's nothing wrong with her.
What if this whole thing was made up so that the Wales wouldn't be able to step up whilst charles is ill. Charles was always a bit protective of his spotlight and might not want to be outshone by the younger couple when there have always been calls for him to step aside for William.
So they keep Kate tucked away she gets a bit of a break and supports the Kings wishes. Everyone's worried about her health so charles can recover with less intrusion.
Then the photographs and William cancelling an appearance last minute is all a ruse to make them look incompetent so when Charles does come back it looks like everything's back in a safe pair of hands.

Haven’t RTFT but has anyone suggested yet that Kate IS in fact an expert at Photoshop and has deliberately badly edited the shot to cause a media furore as a cry for help?
I am joking of course. I’m going with Occam’s Razor and the most mundane explanation will hopefully be the truth.
