The royal family

Do the Royal Family just think we are really really stupid?

Just that really. From Harry’s car chase to Prince Andrew being at a Pizza Express kid’s party.

And now we’re supposed to believe that the country’s biggest PR machine in the middle of a media storm just let Prince William take a casual Mothers Day pic on his iPhone, let the missus edit it and then post it to the world?

😒

But sure you can see that this is proper tin foil hat stuff? I’m not taking part in it, I’m saying it’s obsessive and weird and dull to be so consumed in whether a complete stranger is still off sick from work or not.
And the more comments I make, the sooner the thread fills up and closes

But it has evoked enough emotion in you for you to spend time trying to fill the thread?

She maybe a complete stranger but she’s soon to be the queen of our country… Hardly the same as wondering whether Julie who works at the bingo has got a cold.

People are interested in all types of trivial shit from Celebrity Big Brother to The X Factor.

But your interest in people having interest in unworthy subjects is far less weird 🙄…

Let's look at the last few months...

If the poor woman isn't having a break down she's not human. All she's allowed to do is smile and put her best foot forward. I've been in an absolute mess over smaller issues and to my shame have cried at work a couple of times, had a little weep in my car at the traffic lights, been rude to a couple of unlucky strangers, sworn at a few idiotic drivers... She doesn't have that luxury.

My guess is that she has had abdominal surgery but she has used it as a chance to step off the ridiculous merry-go-round and deal with her mental health too. The stuff she and Wiliam have been through in the last couple of years would put a massive strain on a marriage. I hope they come through this stronger. I don't think anyone has lied about her condition but I think she has stipulated that she is stepping back until Easter and her privacy is paramount to her recovery.

Well yes and each day they are proved right by the great royal conspiracy believers not hard really for them to think that

Well if where you live is another country then it would be surprising for your media or public to care as much given that they are the British royal family. 🤔

I'm in a Commonwealth country - they are our royal family too.

If this was a member of our government, or a local celebrity, we wouldn't be frothing and coming up with all the ridiculous nonsense that has been on MN in the past few days/weeks.

I see the same thing when there has been a murder, or someone is missing - thread after thread of speculation. It's madness, and I've never encountered it here on anything like the same level.

Merrymouse · 11/03/2024 20:10

IloveAslan · 11/03/2024 20:05

Some people on here appear to have very dull, limited, lives.

I’m very glad that the agencies checked the photo.

I sympathise with the reasons it was released, but there should be blanket standards for photos released to news agencies. If the photo doesn’t meet the standards it shouldn’t be used.

Well congrats for living in such a civilised country with such wonderfully level headed people.

Sorry us Brits are so dramatic as you put it…

It seems so incredibly conceited to think she’d get away with it, surely they know people will pour over every pixel in any photo they release. And now everyone thinks she’s got something to hide.

What makes you think she’s behind this and not Prince William?

35965a · 11/03/2024 20:15

They probably think we are all stupid but then again they’ve also made themselves look fairly stupid by releasing that hacked up photo.

They get paid by the people if they don't do their job properly then they should be held accountable. If it was you you would be accused of lying and fraud. Why should they get special treatment?

This. People did pore over the photo's but so did established and reputable news agencies. And it didn't meet their editorial guidelines. End of. I'm glad that, Royal or not, it got pulled for that. The job of the press is to hold truth to power. Most of the time where the Royals are concerned, they don't do that. They hide stories away in return for those very types of 'cute kids' pictures. I wouldn't be surprised of the press are pissed off that they have been given something to print that is so doctored it doesn't meet editorial standards by the Royals and expected to just print it no questions asked. But that is the fault of KP, not the press (for once)

She’s no more important to me than ‘Julie at bingo with a cold’. Try and deflect if you like, I suppose it just demonstrates that you know that your obsession with a complete stranger is as weird as it is.

ttcat37 · 11/03/2024 20:18

Carpediemmakeitcount · 11/03/2024 19:55

We pay that stranger out of our taxes mind blowing isn't it. We pay a complete stranger money we're even bigger fools.

Do you have all their memorabilia on your shelves?

I wouldn’t pay if I had a choice. I obviously have zero ‘royal’ memorabilia on my shelves.

How am I deflecting? I’m saying I don’t think it’s weird to be interested in whether an institution that we pay lots of money for lie to us.

I couldn’t care less where Kate is. But I care if people in power think it’s acceptable to spin false narratives.

I just think it’s more weird that you are pretending not to be interested yet posting on a thread about the topic. But each to their own.

Plot twist, Kensington Palace has a bunch of devotees to start endless threads about Kate’s illness. You just to keep the attention on themselves albeit through Kate. Then when Kate has recovered enough to be rolled out to public engagements, the mass hysteria will draw in crowds.

Nah, it's more likely crap journalists who are orchestrating their shitty articles by playing games on threads and nicking posters' ideas

LIZ JONES: The Palace can no longer be trusted

What a rollercoaster of emotions this past weekend! I was in Tesco on Sunday - surrounded by people buying last-minute tulips for Mother's Day - when I checked my phone.

I wish they explain what they found ( because I can’t be bothered examining it myself). But if she hasn’t swapped her head or something it’s hardly that misleading.

I think they combined a few shots to get one photo where all the subjects were smiling/not blurred etc. (Not suggesting they used a phone, but this functionality is advertised on some new phones).

However, press agencies stipulate standards for photos, to ensure they don’t publish fakes, and it didn’t meet those standards.

Totally agree. The press have to have a standard and that pic wasn't just airbrushed, it was doctored enough not to meet the standards of major news agencies.
If we just say...so what, who cares, any old doctored and manipulated photos will be released like a mash up of Charles shaking Putin's hand or something

I am relieved 😌

The obsession with the royal family on some of these threads is laughable. As far as I am concerned and I am no royalist is the RF died when the queen died. Enough is enough of them constantly taking money from us while we live in shit. I don't like any of the royal family they need to get real jobs and pay for their own health care and private education.

Calliopespa · 11/03/2024 20:26

There a bbc article explaining a feature where you can select the best shot of each face in the photo and put them together, and small mistakes can creep in when compiling. I’m not sure it’s such a misleading thing if no single person was changed. I can imagine she didn’t have the energy to sit there while the children all managed a decent shot together. Tbh when I looked at it I thought they were lucky to have got each child looking so happy given their grandfather is ill , their mum is ill, they have suffered a family bereavement in the last week or so and their parents have been in the papers as divorced or dead or abducted by aliens ir whatever other nonsense. Yet if they published one with even the faintest look of distress on any of the children’s faces , it would have been used as confirmation of any or all if the above. I think it’s time to leave them alone.

Ah thanks yes. Our posts crossed and I’d sort of concluded the same . But I can understand why they did it. Children can be a faff to coordinate!

Gagaandgag · 11/03/2024 20:30

Does anyone know why she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring in the photo?

Saymyname28 · 11/03/2024 20:34

BIossomtoes · 11/03/2024 19:43

What do you want to happen to them? Public beheading? Why should there be “repercussions” for a badly photoshopped picture?

The repercussions for a royal family that regularly lies to its countries citizens should be the removal of said royal family.

Yep that seems like a strange misstep on their part. Wouldn’t they assume the pic would be scrutinised because “people are concerned”? The whole thing is weird. I think it’s weird because she seems Stepford-wife-level committed to her role, never really misstepping, seems like a perfectionist. Bet when the truth comes out it’ll be something nobody has thought of. Truth is stranger than fiction and all that.

It's a lot of money to say okay we'll leave you alone. Another poster said if they had a choice they wouldn't pay. We don't have any choice but to pay for this RF and yet you think they should be left alone?

It's a put up and shut up attitude that some people are happy to do. A lot of people are struggling to get a diagnosis from their local doctor/hospital because they can't convince their doctor or get an appointment. Kate and Charles don't have to wait in a qué to get their diagnosis they get sorted out straight away and looked after. We get treated like animals as soon as we enter the health service.

Sparetoes · 11/03/2024 20:36

I don't know if they think we're stupid or they employ truly incompetent staff, but it really is a shambles. All their attempts to placate make things worse, every time.
