Yet another picture agency has ‘killed’ the Mother’s Day photo due to credibility issues

KP PR are really not doing well with this!

Associated press
AFP
Reuters
Getty images
And now PA media have all issued picture kill notifications to their editors and publishers regarding the Mother’s Day image due to how highly edited it was

Not going to help with the conspiracy theories

The Telegraph article suggests the photo is AI generated.

Which is why Getty have done their kill notice

Its the only red line they really have (outside of hate images etc.)

I often use Photoshop to transport the dog from my tatty, weed-filled garden with all its holes and sparse grass to a nice, manicured lawn with a well-tended flower bed.

Serenster · 11/03/2024 15:42

Editing a photo using a AI tool is different to an image being “generated” by AI though, Frequency?

Like the pap photo of Kate and Carole last week - it was a photograph created by a photographer, and then edited with AI to sharpen the grainy original image.

BenefitWaffle · 11/03/2024 15:44

@Serenster We do not know that. We are speculating. Unless the Palace release the original photo, anything else is speculation.

Frequency · 11/03/2024 15:45

Not when the background or part of the background is generated by AI. It would show up as being edited with Gen AI.

I sometimes generate an entire garden, or sometimes just a nice, freshly painted fence. It's still using AI to generate a part of the image. It also does chop random bits of the dog off if he's too similar to the background colour of the original image.

Falafelsandw1ch · 11/03/2024 15:47

I feel really fucking sorry for her. As I said earlier, I hate my face currently due to hormones screwing up, I can’t imagine how it must feel to have the whole world’s eyes on you when you don’t feel right. I am not a huge royal fan per se, but as a fellow woman, mother and human, she gets my sympathy.

Or because the unedited version looks nothing like the edited photo?

Or because they don’t want to.

How is the recent shot of W&C in the car different from the one last week of Carole and Kate in the car - in that the latter was not allowed to be published in the UK?

Was today’s shot and agreed / arranged pap shot?

If so I believe KP seem to be responding to media/internet nonsense - as the Mother’s Day photo seemed to be.

I think this strategy is wrong - it feeds the beast. They should have the courage of their convictions and stand strong with their original plans for privacy until Easter.

Well, Sky says the metadata shows the image was taken on a Canon camera. So we do know that.

Oh it’s definitely an agreed pap shot. Especially since we can only see an ear

Because it looks like it was taken by a photographer on a public highway, when she was a passenger in a car. You have far less of an expectation of privacy in that situation than you do when driving on a private estate and are snapped by someone using a long-range lens.

(although if she is being taken to, say, attend a medical appointment she could still protest today’s picture shouldn’t be published as she has a right to privacy concerning her health still).

I disagree

BenefitWaffle · 11/03/2024 16:02

Strange the paps were only able to take a photo of the back of Kate looking through the window at a brick wall.

It was also taken while William was on his way to an official engagement so that likely also makes it less objectionable that he would be photographed - and on this occasion she just happens to be in the car with him.

Yes, it was clearly agreed in advance.

Helfs · 11/03/2024 16:03

Serenster · 11/03/2024 16:01

I disagree

So you genuinely believe whoever took this picture couldn’t get an image of the other side of the vehicle?

And conveniently it’s only showing a sliver of Kate’s face?

OP posts:
Serenster · 11/03/2024 16:12

I think it’s clear from the photograph that the photographer (Kelvin Bruce) was standing on William’s side of the car?

I assume he was hoping to get a shot of William leaving Windsor to head for the Commonwealth Day service, since it was known William would be attending that. He was probably taken aback by Kate unexpectedly being in the car, on the opposite side of the car from him. And so only got one photo that was recognisable as Kate, as her head was turned away from the camera.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 11/03/2024 16:12

Given that there seems to be a wall at Kate’s side I’d say they know what side the photographers are likely to be at and she sat on the opposite side and looked away.

The timing is perfection though wouldn’t you say?

In all this time she hasn’t been papped on a public highway - and then only when KP have inadvertently whipped up the tin-hatters with their dodgy photo - she is immediately seen for the first time on a public highway.

I really think KP shouldn’t take the bait. They should have stuck to their guns as nothing will satiate these types.

BenefitWaffle · 11/03/2024 16:18

The photographers are pretty incompetent then. Its not hard to scope a place out so you can get a photo.

ChalcotSq · 11/03/2024 16:19

What I mean to say is that if this is agreed/staged - then they are invading their own privacy and it’s all v disingenuous.

Jk987 · 11/03/2024 16:23

What's the problem with editing the photo? Why is it being treated as a scandal???

How do you suggest they get clear photos of both sides of a car at the same time?

They knew William was going to Westminster abbey so stood in a good position to get a photo of him on the way - which is what they got. They just weren’t expecting anyone else in the car with him.
