KP PR are really not doing well with this!

Associated press
AFP
Reuters
Getty images
And now PA media have all issued picture kill notifications to their editors and publishers regarding the Mother’s Day image due to how highly edited it was

Not going to help with the conspiracy theories

I'm not mentioning it in RL but I'm definitely following

I’m clearly following here. But I wouldn’t confuse that with what normal people are doing by any stretch.

This faux great constitutional crisis seems to be off the front pages this morning.

ChVrches · 14/03/2024 09:48

I see that the Mother's Day photo is back in the press again. How strange after all the fuss.

BenefitWaffle · 14/03/2024 12:05

It is there with stories about the photoshop. Not at all strange.

ChVrches · 14/03/2024 16:39

It's in the report about the event tonight.

Rose Hanbury is being mentioned everywhere all of a sudden. Random articles about who she is, for seemingly no reason at all. It's all about to be revealed, isn't it?

The alleged affair was even the subject of the opening monologue on the Late show with Stephen Colbert last night

The Guardian reported on it and later on edited their article to remove her name.

Interesting twitter thread for those who think this is only a story in the UK

I hate to be a conspiracy theorist but since Colbert was all “who know who it is, say it with me” and literally no one in US bar two know her, it’s suss.

Was it not credibly rumored that H&M started the rumor at SoHo house when Giles Goren then tweeted about it?

is Harry still chummy with Colbert?

None of this foots. I could ask 50 people and not one would know that woman’s title here in US. I’m the only one that interested and even I can’t say it or spell it.

Because its now known to be a fake. The story is not 'oh look, Kate is alive and well in this picture taken yesterday by Prince William ', which was false. The story is now ' Oh, look at this picture that Kate faked'.I happen to think that's not true either and that she's been told to take the blame for it, but it's still a different news story. Not strange at all.

I have a basic knowledge of photoshop and have been known to edit photos that I know will be seen publicly.. I cleaned my skin up and thickened my hair on my last passport photo 🤫 .. most women would choose to tweak their photos if they were going to be seen around the world I think!

This wouldn't get a kill notice put on a photo, though. If she's just tidied up stray hairs and brightened her skin up, or similar, that's normal.

The kill notice means that agencies think the photo isn't credible, meaning it's for example, a composite image. Obviously the innocent explanation is they couldn't get one nice photo of the kids, so merged two together, but equally it could be the the image of Kate/Kate's face isn't necessarily current.

Absolutely not true.

Photo agencies will put out kill notices on NEWS photos that have had any changes - even just removing red eye. This is because of historic scandals about famous photos - the NG cover with the Afghan girl, photos from war zones being 'manipulated'.

PR photos have no such need for zero manipulation - hence why AP/Getty/AFP had no issues distributing eg., Kardashian/Harry & Meghan photos that have clearly been photoshopped.

For whatever reason the photo agencies decided to categorise the Wales' photo as news. IMO KP put it out as a PR photo (it's a Mother's Day puff piece photo fgs). I have a feeling it's because photo agencies & a good chunk of the media aren't happy at reduced access and are trying to flex what influence they have to force the release of more info/photos, as well as drive clicks.

IMO this will backfire - William esp has no love for the Press and will likely just reduce access further. It wouldn't surprise if KP only release family images via their SM from now on, cutting out the photo agencies altogether.

Very interesting post @MrsFinkelstein , and I think most likely right !
They are playing a silly game with William , and let's be honest here it doesn't matter what the press or keyboard warriors say , He is going to be king!
Nothing will change that!
He may be an unpopular king but king he will be!

Fine.

I'm very heartened to learn that despite everything else Press Agencies do have standards of veracity for pictures.

And I don't think anybody is " playing a silly game with William". It's a simple standard that the photo crossed. 🤷‍♀️

Thats it. More fool his Press Office.

RoyalDramaLlama · 17/03/2024 18:50

Yes good. Then the press will have no reason to keep their secrets and we will stop having to read sycophantic puff pieces from 'sources' and Palace press releases. We will know exactly who they are.The press need to be holding truth to power, not sucking up to the Royals in return for some pictures of the kids and invitations to lunch at Windsor Castle.
