What harm does speculation do?

It undermines trust. And the RF need to be seen to be trustworthy and inspire confidence in order to
survive because their relationship with the public depends upon it.

Sparetoes · 11/03/2024 07:30

Isn't it most likely that William's a rubbish photographer and someone, misguidedly, tried to make it fit for publication?

Dance54 · 11/03/2024 07:32

There may be news out that has not been published. If the news agencies are respecting their side of the deal in not intruding they may be playing hard ball in response to a photoshopped image.

It is more than just the hand, so may be the level of photoshopping alters the context. E.g. thebackground and so the location is misrepresented. For example, If she is in bed or a bedroom with medical equipment the press agencies cannot put something out that gives the impression she is up and significantly better.

Catherine should not be solely blamed. It is a KP issue. She should also not be blamed for the general view of the RF. I personally have a problem with it since the Prince Andrew and avoiding legal responsibility.

Ncncncworkywork · 11/03/2024 07:33

Clearly Kate is still lying in a medical bed somewhere with bandages and tubes etc, and they've thought "okay, we still need to get our traditional mothers day pic out, let's photoshop one". Which is so dumb.
It's 2024 not 1954, we aren't "keeping up appearances" anymore, are we? So just release a soundbite of Kate saying she basically feels and looks like shit and looks forward to being up and running again at Easter, and take a mothers day pic with her kids gathered around her bedside

summersock · 11/03/2024 07:34

Aquarius1234 · 10/03/2024 09:24

With the clothes the kids are wearing that photo looks like it was taken 20 years ago.
Old fashioned.

Yes, they would look much better in an adidas tracksuit.

Sparetoes · 11/03/2024 07:36

There must be loads of people who know what the situation really is. If it's very dramatic, they've done very well to avoid leaks.

If the press know, but aren't saying anything, why would they have published a picture they knew was fake in the first place?

This but unironically. Poor kids.

SabreIsMyFave · 11/03/2024 07:39

I have looked closely and can see a couple of little glitches that have been mentioned - and maybe this is a pic that was taken 4-6 months ago, but I am struggling to care, honestly. I am not having a go at people who are concerned/asking questions, or thinking I'm superior because I'm not faffed, but Kate must be sick of all the 'where is Kate' cries.

Kate and the Royal Family have probably just had enough of the speculation about people going on and on about Kate. Where is she? Has she been kidnapped by aliens, has William eaten her? Are they fashioning a clone? So many questions! Shock

So they just rattled up a pic on Mothers Day and said it was Kate and the kids this weekend. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but seriously,? Who cares? Maybe Kate has not recovered enough to face the public yet/isn't looking her best (Or feels she doesn't look her best,) and wanted this photo being presented.

Bet she wishes she hadn't bothered now! The speculation and conspiracy theory are bonkers. I think people need to leave the woman alone. She said she would be offline til around Easter, so why all the fuss?

Reading the first few pages of this thread where all the Royal watchers were fawning over the picture saying how wonderful it was and how amazing Kate looked etc etc you really can’t help but think how easy it is to pull the wool over peoples eyes. They only see what they want to see and a few gave snide remarks to the early ‘it’s fake’ comments. Shame on them for being so gullible.

Yep. I brought up on the thread about Charlotte's sleeve, posted a photo to show how obviously photoshopped it was. The ridicule! People like me shouldn't be able to vote etc 😂

I honestly think most ardent royalists aren't very bright tbh.

If that really is what they did, it shows astonishing disregard for the public and the truth (i doubt that it is). You might think no one should care but the RF's very existence depends on people caring. They need people to be interested.

Sparetoes · 11/03/2024 07:44

I don't actually think she looks that well in the picture, she looks really uncomfortable to me.

GuinnessBird · 11/03/2024 07:47

Still no response from KP, how odd.

Very odd. Tick tock. Something is brewing.

Lalgarh · 11/03/2024 07:50

Is it an AI generated image?

Artapplicapplications787 · 11/03/2024 07:25

The news doesn’t make sense because the Radio Four report just now referred to a child’s arm being doctored in the photo, but a kill order is issued when there’s a misrepresentation of the truth. It’s four very major news agencies that have issued it too. All rather dodgy imho!

And that’s a very good point from a pp about the Palace primarily protecting William.

I think the reason they're running with the sleeve inconsistency is because that's the part of the photo which is beyond any doubt. Anybody with a pair of eyes can see it.

Experts have obviously looked at the picture and advised that on the balance of probability, the whole thing is faked. It wouldn't have been killed otherwise but I don't think the press would run with that, it's nuclear. They're waiting for a statement from the palace

This made me laugh 😆

The BBC have a couple of articles if anyone is interested in a measured explanation.

I suspect the real headline should be:

KP Bad at Photoshop: they really should have brought in a professional

BBC News - Princess of Wales: Kate image withdrawn by four news agencies amid 'manipulation' concerns

But I don't think agencies "kill" pictures for minor touching up?

Weird

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 11/03/2024 08:07

I still doubt there is anything sinister at play beyond an incompetent use of photo merging or similar.

Poor Kate. I hope she's turned the telly off and gone back to bed with a good book.

Interesting. They think there will soon be an uptick of people googling her and want traffic to their site

They do actually. Red-eye removal will be pulled up, apparently.

The AP has said the reason for the kill notice was Charlotte’s sleeve.

Yeah the BBC says they allow them to remove dust from the lens but that's about it
