Why this photo though? In January the Danish court released this picture of Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent for their 13th birthday. People pointed out the twins had just been lifted and stitched together from a family portrait taken at their brother Christian’s 18th birthday the year before. No issue there though - all the agencies were happy to run it.

Oh this is indeed a cluster fuck. Saw the chat on here about the sleeve yesterday and agreed it was dodgy but figured it was just splicing together of a couple of shots. This does seem to imply the agencies think it's more than that though?

All along I've felt that the official explanation was the most likely one, and based on experiences in my own family have suspected something along the lines of Crohn's and a stoma from day 1. So I've been very sympathetic to her wanting space and privacy to recover and adjust.

They're just going to have to release the undoctored image today, even if she looks like shit. If there isn't one...

What I would do , if she doesn’t want to be photographed, is find a really respected radio reporter, or the Today prog, and get her to do a pre rec radio interview with pre approved questions. We don’t need to actually see her, hearing her would help dispel the rumours. And if she is feeling awful and doesn’t look great, she can explain this. I know the royals don’t do interviews that often but this feels like an occasion when they really need to!

That’s the thing when you support monarchy. In effect you have to unquestioningly accept the narrative being sold.

I have been quite sympathetic to her need for privacy, but as a publicly funded institution, public concern now outweighs that imo.

Why do we need to know anything. Whatever is happening within their family unit is not our business. She is off work. I don’t need to see her or hear from her. I just don’t get it. If she hadn’t had a major op and disappeared from public life without word I might be more curious but she’s had major surgery and is looking after herself and her kids as best she can through that, in private. Until she is back at work again it’s just none of our business.

Because of the speculation. You can’t just stick your head in the sand and ignore. They rely on public support to keep their position.

Why? What difference does any of this make to anyone? Putting the rumours to bed isn’t their responsibility- just stop making up rumours. If the public are making stuff up that’s our behaviour and responsibility. Not theirs.

Let us stew in our own gossipy juices. They didn’t cause the rumours. They have been clear - abdominal surgery + 6 months off work out of the public eye. Back Easter. Why don’t we all just wait until Easter and stop making up stuff about people we don’t even know?

What harm does speculation do?

The news doesn’t make sense because the Radio Four report just now referred to a child’s arm being doctored in the photo, but a kill order is issued when there’s a misrepresentation of the truth. It’s four very major news agencies that have issued it too. All rather dodgy imho!

I was all for yeah she needs privacy but I think they just need to come out with it now for their own sake. She's had a leg amputated, or a line from her brain to her abdomen inserted or an ovary removed or whatever. If they hadn't released a fake photo they could have riden it out

Yes they should have left it or released a montage of previous photos. This just adds fuel to the fire
