I think it's much more Agatha Christie actually. Titled family, big house in English countryside, suspected impersonator, unexplained departures from social functions, undated photographs...

So who do we think really took the photo? Could've been Elvis or Lord Lucan, the kids' toothy grins are swaying me towards Shergar though.

Exactly. Can they really be so clueless that they don't realise that releasing a photo of her without her rings on is just going to result in more fevered speculation. Their PR bods really do seems pretty inefficient.

I couldn’t wear anything tight fitting for months and months after my hysterectomy, including the elastic waistband in leggings. I even struggled with knickers. Then I had 2 more rounds of surgery as it herniated, twice leaving me with a scar way above my belly button to the pubic bone.

I would be very surprised if those jeans are tight fitting.

She does usually wear her wedding ring. It’s a very thin band so quite difficult to see when she has her engagement ring on.

Only by utter fools who haven’t got the capacity to understand that’s it’s likely that she may have swelling from the op or medication she’s having to take so can’t get her rings on.

Why would a picture of someone at home and off duty not wearing their ring cause feverish speculation? What is actually the most likely explanation for not wearing jewellery round the house? I’m currently in my house, not wearing any rings. We’ve been out for a walk this morning and I didn’t wear any rings. I went to Waitrose earlier and didn’t wear any rings. When I go out to dinner later I’ll put on my wedding and engagement rings and some earrings. We aren’t getting a divorce.

Oh do stop getting so het up. This photo has led to a lot of 'oooh she's not wearing her rings' chatter on the internet when they could have easily avoided that. Pretty simple.

I agree that they need to change their PR representation - it's a really lovely photo - but imho it's too reactive and not proactive.

No offence but what you do regarding your rings is neither here nor there. You're not a public figure with lots of bonkers speculation currently surrounding you. Conspiracy theories around the royals in the last few weeks have just been on the rise. I'm merely saying that they could have avoided adding to that.

I don't know - what could possibly account for the differences between 1 photo taken from a significant distance with a telephoto lens and then zoomed in massively and likely distorted due to this.

And one which is taken at close range, with appropriate flattering lighting, make up, angles, posing, composition and staging.

What could possibly account for differences between the two?

How could they have avoided it?

If she genuinely can't get her rings on, what do you actually think they should have done instead?

I have no thoughts either way on "where is Kate" and I don't massively care, I just think it's hilarious that they've shared a picture that instantly looked to me as though her head had been photoshopped in.
