Bloody hell. She could've at least lifted her jumper and shown "us" (the "we need to know people") her surgery scar.

What a lovely photo . I get the impression it was taken recently given that Catherine is seated rather than up a tree or walking with her DC !
I hope she is feeling better .

That's an evergreen tree. Last autumn was relatively hot, the children are unlikely to have been wearing those warm clothes then.

Zyq · 10/03/2024 12:51

Sorry, that message was attached to the wrong quote - should have been the one about how it must be recent because the tree is green.

It’s just a family photo, what have they done that’s so incompetent?

They should manage every aspect of a photo like this before issuing to the public to ensure there is no ambiguity or gives rise to unhelpful speculation. It is what any competent PR professional would do and the royal family would have plenty of advisers on this (which we pay for).

Does it look like a spontaneous family snap to you?

Lucy377 · 10/03/2024 12:54

We need a pic of her holding today's newspaper 😁

Given the interest people seem to have no matter what was released people will talk about it

It looks like their other PR shots to me

Some posters here and either trolls or their life is seriously lacking

TheLastTimeEver · 10/03/2024 12:57

No one has commented on fact that Louis has his fingers crossed denoting a) hope that is real mother is returned soon or b) fact he is telling a lie pretending this is his real mother.

deeply sinister and disturbing. You are all sheep.

Torn between laughing at people saying they aren’t horticultural experts then commenting on the plants and worrying about my garden not having got the memo that it isn’t supposed to be in leaf.

What a great thread to get an insight into how the minds of some people work, though a bit worrying on one level.

It’s mad, isn’t it. I have a garden full of evergreens, and patio potted evergreens, all with completely different leaf shapes, sizes, degrees of bushiness and variegated colours. What do people mean when they say it “doesn’t look like an evergreen”? And anyone with evergreen plants knows that - shock, horror - sometimes the leaves turn brown and fall off! Do they think these plants just retain the exact same leaves their whole lives?

ArrestHer · 10/03/2024 12:59

Some people are trying to write their own Dan Brown novel here.

I like the photo and I’m pleased they all look happy. I don’t care to look any deeper for a conspiracy that doesn’t exist.

Do you think it might be an early April Fool’s ?!

MrsLeonFarrell · 10/03/2024 13:01

Lovely photo.

Iloveyoubut · 10/03/2024 13:02

It’s the first pic to be realised, not the first to be taken. Lovely leafy tree for this time of year. Wish them all the very best regardless of whatever is going on. It can’t be an easy life.

Zyq · 10/03/2024 13:02

ilovebreadsauce · 10/03/2024 10:27

The trees are in full leaf. They certainly aren't here.of course she may not be in the uk

If you have no trees at all in full leaf, you Iive somewhere very strange.

Vitriolinsanity · 10/03/2024 13:02

Since you ask, I'll tell you what it looks like to me.

Three happy, healthy kids with their mum. Their mum is looking well after a recent operation, which is great. They're laughing at something Dad said after he's taken at least 4 photos and finally said "ok, this is why we usually bring in Annie Liebowitz so no one's head gets cut off".

Livingtothefull · 10/03/2024 12:25

I am not claiming that the photo is fake, I really don't know. Just pointing out that their PR is awful and they really don't care about treating the public with respect.

Releasing a photo and statement is entirely respectful. They're not 'explaining' anything because there's nothing to explain! They've already told the public that we can expect Catherine back at work after Easter.
It's very responsible of them, and not surprising (given that they're both champions of taking mental health seriously), that they're not indulging the online lunatic fringe and their crackpot conspiracy theories.

The Symbololgy of the Royals would probably go down a treat, in fairness.

Maybe Meghan Markle is a descendant of Jesus and Mary Magdalen come to infuse the RF with True Blood or something. The Waleses should look out for murderous albino monks.

Just realised that April Fools is Easter Monday

They might have a real treat in store for us.....

Yirk · 10/03/2024 13:07

Lovely family picture, they look so happy and healthy.

AmyDudley · 10/03/2024 13:07

William doesn't seem funny in the slightest. I doubt he made them laugh that much.

He's probably telling them the story of when he pushed Uncle Harry into the dog's bowl.

Vitriolinsanity · 10/03/2024 13:08

Actually, if I recall correctly when they did bring Annie in the nut bars of MN all gathered to exclaim about the wonky sofa.

But who wears skinny jeans - so skinny they’re tucked into her boots! - when recovering from abdominal surgery?

People who wear long tops under which they can leave the button of their jeans undone? Like - er - the long top Kate is wearing in the photo?

Let's assume that Kate genuinely can't get her rings back on because of the side effects of her surgery and medication - how, in your opinion, are they supposed to "manage" that, exactly?
