Sorry but the context of this photo is weird. There are so many in here that seem to invite speculation, either their PR is lousy or they are deliberately trying to wind people up.

Why would someone recovering from surgery be in hiking boots?

Why choose a spot with the tree behind them in full leaf showing autumnal signs? Yes it may be an evergreen but to my (admittedly untrained) eye it doesn't look like one.

Why no rings? Yes it could well be that she can't wear them for medical reasons - but if so why not just explain that, or simply don't show her hands in the photo?

Didn't they think all this would invite speculation, or do they just not care?

Kate is not a private individual, she is a public figure whose role is funded by the taxpayers. Although we are not of course entitled to details of her recovery or medical info, I think that we are entitled to clear communication about her progress, and this photo isn't it; it invites more questions than it answers. Some posters may be happy being patronised by this kind of non communication but I'm not.

They're doing it all just to wind people like you up

Livingtothefull · 10/03/2024 12:25

I am not claiming that the photo is fake, I really don't know. Just pointing out that their PR is awful and they really don't care about treating the public with respect.

I never normally look properly at these type of royal photos.
As they are soooo boring and staged.
Only cos of the Where's Kate saga.
For 42 she has no forehead lines. Lucky!

She's been well for weeks. She just wanted total privacy. Maybe she should have married someone else for that..

A woman, who’s had major abdominal surgery, which doesn’t involve something relatively simple, such as a c section will not have been well for weeks… and even then many women take considerably more than the 6 weeks to recover from a c section.

It took me 5 months to really regain strength after a very intrusive hysterectomy.

You seem to be commenting enough for someone with no interest 🙄

Shes clearly not in a coma.

Don't trust your eyes. Everyone's so distracted by the missing ring that they don't notice that George is holding her up.
Derren Brown's basic trickery for dummies.

FalafelSandwich · 10/03/2024 12:29

For God’s sakes, enough.

Everyone knows she is shedding her skin like all reptiles do.

Leave the woman alone to slough in peace.

AInightingale · 10/03/2024 12:29

just waiting for the tree experts to zoom in and tell us what kind of tree that is and whether it's in leaf in March...

jeffgoldblum · 10/03/2024 12:29

Why would anyone wear a priceless engagement ring with such huge emotional implications around the house???

This 😂

pubblehopper · 10/03/2024 12:31

mainly because of the greenery in the background.

They must have an Orangerie dahling, the photograph could have been taken there.

MangoApple · 10/03/2024 12:34

God, poor woman feeling she has to do this when she is supposed to be recuperating, and still people are critical and suspicious.

I’m not hugely interested in the royals but it amazes me how people who are interested in them are simultaneously so horrible to them.

I'd love to know what was so funny... normal smiles would be better. Don't wanna see inside their mouths and every tooth on display lol

Fucking hell, they can't do anything right

EdithWeston · 10/03/2024 12:35

I think the length of Charlotte's hair and the DC's dentition rule out the possibility that this is an old pic.

Also, I can't see the hand under Louis' arm fully, so if the pic has been L/R flipped for aesthetic reasons, it's possible that's her left hand and no conclusions can be drawn re presence/absence of wedding ring.

I don't think the pic is in a conservatory - it looks as though they are in front of a set of French windows, on a tiled outdoor area that gives directly on to grass, with Louis' hand on a windowsill.

I wonder if anyone is obsessive enough to track down pix of the exterior of Adelaide Cottage to identify the window and what plant is by it.

I've got lots of things in early leaf in my garden.

(Lots of posts on earlier threads saying that one picture would end speculation really haven't aged well, have they? Grin )

Livingtothefull · 10/03/2024 12:36

I am not remotely wound up, just rather annoyed that they have no interest in ensuring they communicate clearly to the public. One would expect them/their advisers to have carefully thought through the context of that photo to avoid any misunderstandings - so their PR is incompetent.

I find that a really odd stance to take. I don’t understand how keeping something private equals showing a lack of respect? I don’t think anyone is obligated to share all aspects of their life, especially medical details, with me or anyone else.

I find people’s demands that their curiosity must be satisfied far more disrespectful.

It's a really lovely photo but I doubt it's current, mainly because of the greenery in the background.

I'm looking out if my window just now.

UK. Plenty of greenery. Winter jasmine, laurel, cordoline, holly…grass…

Would that involve lying though??

FragileWookiee · 10/03/2024 12:39

Last week everyone believed that the woman in the car, that didn't look like Kate, was Kate on steroids.
This picture (stated to be taken last week) shows Kate looking like her normal self. Who was the woman in the car then? 🤣

No idea what sort, but it's very similar to the one the neighbours have next to their house, and very similar stage of leafing. Give another month and the leaves will be much darker green.

Was going to quote your previous nasty quote about them being old fashioned but this one was even nastier. Horrible.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 10/03/2024 12:43

My only quibble is it is very on-brand.

I'd quite like Kate to have resurfaced with spiky purple hair, wearing a God Save the Queen t-shirt and clutching a can of beer and a poke of chips.

Might as well embrace being off-duty to the max.

It’s just a family photo, what have they done that’s so incompetent?

That’s an old picture, you can tell as the tree in the background is full of green leaves some of which look like they are turning brown. Probably taken last autumn

Cheers Columbo

I find people’s demands that their curiosity must be satisfied far more disrespectful.

I specifically said that we did not have entitlement to access all details of her life including medical details. I am afraid though that it is unreasonable for people in publicly funded roles to expect complete privacy.

Regardless of whether you or I think them unreasonable or disrespectful, it is just a fact that many people's curiosity is aroused by this situation and that photo is not doing much to help that or make it go away. So the RF just have to deal with that as a downside of their extremely privileged position, and manage it effectively.
