Imagine using the victims of a school shooting for attention and PR. There seem to be no depths to which this pair will not sink

Meghan and Harry sing happy birthday to school shooting victim family

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make a surprise visit to Uvalde, Texas, to support the family of Irma Garcia, a teacher killed in the 2022 school shooting.

@Spectre8 Are you referring to the comments made by Piers immediately following the Oprah interview?

Edited

Are you saying its okay to bully someone because it's their fault and they deserve it

Hughs · 24/03/2024 12:31

I don't see that it's Meghan bashing to comment on the strangeness of Meghan and Harry issuing a public announcement as if they are heads of state.

I'm sure opinions may vary but I think that's made stranger when compared with them saying nothing about the bashing W+K were getting, even though Meghan did a thing about online bullying right in the middle of it and Harry has spoken many times about press intrusion and online misinformation.

Vespanest · 24/03/2024 12:33

If the announcement that they found out with the rest of us is true, that must of been really difficult for Harry, he may of expected it from William but that means his own father couldn’t trust him to give him a courtesy heads up. There is no way that does not play with your head, especially Harry’s. He can build some sort of a relationship, I don’t think he can build trust

No, I’m asking you question which is why I used one of these ?

Not surprised they weren't told privately. It would have been more fodder for their ghastly 'memoirs' or next interview.

In all honesty H&M aren't obliged to say anything, especially when they've already said enough for several lifetimes, but let's not kid ourselves ... like the rest of the RF it's all about image, and I've not the least doubt that they felt they had no choice

It's true up to a point that some will criticise anything they do, but with half the world and his brother sending good wishes it would have looked pretty darned odd if they hadn't

As for how Harry may or may not feel about what he's done in light of events, I really don't care; it's called actions and consequences, and if he doesn't understand the connection it's about time he did

Hughs · 24/03/2024 12:56

I think therein lies some of the oddness - they are not random celebs or heads of state speaking on behalf of Canada or whatever, they are her BIL and SIL.

I agree it's about image, but they seem to have aligned with people who don't actually know Kate, rather than members of the family.

MaisieMacabe · 24/03/2024 12:57

It's because they've broken away from being part of the family, Hugh, and just become celebrities.

I think that’s a good theory. But I’m sure they have a way to contact KP.

They could write a letter to Kensington Palace.

Aren't they good friends with Princess Eugenie? In fact the whole York family?
Could go through them if they've been blocked on the WhatsApp.

If the Yorks knew ( and I am not convinced) they will have been under strict instructions not to say anything .,

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 13:08

Unfortunately H and to a lesser extent M pipe up when they shouldn’t and shut up when they should speak out.

Like it or not, it is as it appears.

And although it is an absolute shame if he was not told (because this involved people he once loved) unfortunately his previous actions have come back to meet him.

If you are responsible for causing upset and mistrust, people will not want you around. Or in the loop. And certainly not if you sell your tales to the highest bidder.

Or tell them to a passing egg.

Hughs · 24/03/2024 13:09

I also think it's odd to try and compare the behaviour of the two couples - just meaningless when they have such different lives, responsibilities and priorities. H+M are not obliged to follow the RF line in anything these days, and they clearly agree, or they wouldn't have done the Netflix doc and Harry's book. So saying 'why should they do that when the RF wouldn't? Stop holding them to different standards' is pretty pointless imo.

They show their hypocrisy by complaining no one defended them while they were endlessly defended, then stay quiet now while their own friends and fans bully their family.

But at the same time, I am glad they aren’t saying anything. It would not be helpful at all.

AutumnCrow · 24/03/2024 13:51

I can quite imagine the Hammer House of York was kept out of the loop, too - all four of them (and entourages).

The 'Princess Royal pub lunch' story of 2023 did appear to demonstrate that Beatrice and Eugenie know not only James Blunt but also Piers Morgan. I have no idea if they are 'friends' in any meaningful way, but they know each other.

MaisieMacabe · 24/03/2024 14:08

Well, B&E were photographed coming out of a restaurant with PM and they kissed and hugged goodbye, so obv quite close.

IcedPurple · 24/03/2024 14:58

Lampslights · 24/03/2024 09:49

I also agree. I think it is their go to default position. How does it impact them and what do they need to do to enhance their reputation. So they make it about them.

clearly all thr other royals have passed on their best wishes. Not one has publicly made a pr statement, inc the king. It is highly distasteful when you think about it. They rush to get it out. Make it clear they didn’t know. It’s all about them. Even when Charles was announced, Harry was on the first flight out, making everything a lot worse, as they notified the paps and media so he could be seen on departure and landing.

however i think we should be past the stage of expecting anything like respectful selfless behaviour from them.

Yes.

Kate's brother posted a message on his Instagram and the King issued a statement, but other than that, noone from her family has spoken publicly. Not her parents, her sister or her husband.

I'm not sure why the couple whose last involvement with the PoW was to allow their unofficial spokesman to smear her as a racist felt the need to make their 'good wishes' known. And referring to her as 'Kate' was downright disrespectful from a couple so attached to their own titles.

Quite - still nothing about African Parks, as far as I know. Does anyone else know if Harry has made a statement, or in fact done anything at all to investigate that matter? Perhaps he's hoping it will just go away - or considers it to be 'nothing to do with me'.

IcedPurple · 24/03/2024 15:06

I'd be surprised if the Yorks knew. They are only Kate's cousins in law after all, and they've never been close. They may have been given a 'heads up' in advance of her announcement, but no more than that.

I expect only immediate family knew. I would bet a lot of money that the Riviera Orchard pair only found out when we did.

BemusedAmerican · 24/03/2024 15:11

No new statement from Harry about African Parks.

There is no reason that he couldn't jump on a plane to come visit Catherine the same way he came to visit Charles since Harry doesn't have a job. He could ask Charles and Catherine for more jam and chutney recipes while he's at it.

Doubt if he would be allowed within 100feet of Catherine !

BemusedAmerican · 24/03/2024 15:16

But it would be fun to see. Charles probably has a chopper on standby.

I agree with this, it seemed very odd in the context of an official announcement via a spokesperson. Harry likes to compare Meghan to Diana, maybe it bothers them that there is now another PoW and it's not Meghan.
