DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 04/03/2024 23:20

The press has published pics of HRH with her mum in mum Audi on a
"school run." HRH was seated in the front passenger seat.

Wishing HRS Kate a speedy recovery!!

I'm no royalist but I fail to see how the lack of specific information about Kate's medical condition makes the country a laughing stock.
What more do people think should have been said? A bulletin every Friday at 6pm to say "she's not dead" ?

The lovely Dave Myers explained he never disclosed specific details of his cancer because he didn't want to be "judged". His word. He knew people would google and make assumptions, voice opinions and give unsolicited advice etc.

We have been told her surgery was abdominal and not cancer. No one needs to know any more. We were told not to expect any further updates before Easter unless something significant occurred. The vast majority of the public just put it out out of their mind. It just doesn't register with most people. Reading threads like this is gobsmacking to most of us. Both the avid interest and the avid criticism. Bonkers.

And the idea that because she's a working royal she should been seen in public during her convalescence is weird. Imagine the scrutiny. Imagine the threads on here with posters trying to spot if she has a colostomy bag, or is walking funny, or has gained weight, or lost weight, no longer has a womb....

Engagements are added to the calendar for Anne / Edward & Sophie in advance, but apparently not the King/Queen/Wales.

Nice to see Beatrice stepping in for Kate at a recent MH charity event, both the York girls have jobs, young children and are involved with various charities.

Yes Eugenie is patron of a Slavery and Trafficking organisation which is interesting given her father's shenanigans

How about in exchange for total privacy guaranteed by some law or other, they donate 80% of their income to the charities they support, and revoke all the secrecy laws surrounding their wills, wealth, and IHT, and so on?

It is that kind of privilege, and hiding of immense wealth that irks people more than anything I'd say.

How about you give up every dime you don’t need as well. Anyone with any extra at all got it via privilege of some sort.

Are you serious? The media and social media trolls made it a big circus.

KP released 2 statements, saying that Kate had surgery and will be back after Easter

I don't get what is so controversial about that. Can't you haters read?

People will never be satisfied. Had Kate released a photo of herself at home after the surgery, so many would've have criticised her, analysed every little detail to try to find something wrong, mocked her appearance.

Maybe, there were complications during the surgery, maybe she had a pre-existing condition that requires a longer recovery period.

I do not understand the obsession with this woman's health

Though, I agree that some of them cough William cough, are acting very entitled. I've been saying in another thread that this is the time he should absolutely step up. His dad has cancer, his wife is sick. He literally has no excuse. The arrogance and entitlement is shocking

What are you implying exactly?

AlbertoDilemma · 06/03/2024 11:53

They already have privacy guaranteed by the law. The same law the rest of us have.

Maybe some of you are missing the point. The minute you want to go down the route of "private lives accountable to the taxpayer" for the RF, is the minute every bugger who is a net contributor to the system can turn it around to the 54% + people in the UK who are net takers from the public purse. It's a slippery slope. It's an opening to dismantling the Human Rights Act for some. The people paying the vast majority of tax into the system are the ones who can seize onto this sort of populist nonsense and use it to their own ends. They would absolutely love to get rid of the notion that people who effectively live off the public purse have a right to privacy. Do you really think the RF ending tomorrow is going to be a cure all for all this country's problems (problems unsolved for generations, with no solutions forthcoming from any government of any persuasion) or result in a more equal society for all? Because I think anyone who does is deluding themselves.

Hoolahoophop · 06/03/2024 11:53

@losingtheplot999 who says I'm a royalist. A humanist more like. Everyone has a right to privacy no matter how they are funded.

I would think it was disgusting to demand an appearance from a highly paid elective head of state (or in this case a senior member of their team) while they were convalescing from illness as I do from an unelected Royal.

The question of IF we should have elected non political representatives or not and what we might replace this bunch with is another issue. As are the details of what we finance as tax payers. The state banquets (marketing budget) or the tooth paste butler (personal perks)

Nono22972 · 06/03/2024 11:54

AliceOlive · 06/03/2024 11:51

What are you implying exactly?

It means exactly what it means. Eugenie being the patron of a Slavery and Trafficking organisation given her dad's involvement with Epstein raises some eyebrows considering she hasn't said anything about her father

I do feel bad for her and her sister. They shouldn't be judged for the sins of their father

ToffeeTalk · 06/03/2024 11:55

I think the photo lends more credence to the facelift theory. Obviously it could be steroids rather than that, but not necessarily. I'm not up to speed on cosmetic surgery but it's certainly true that Kate is expected - for no good reason - to look perfect so there would be a lot of pressure from that, and the well off middle class Bucklebury type social circle are into cosmetic surgery big time. That would be a less unpleasant explanation for the swelling but no doubt I'll be told I'm unpleasant for even thinking it, although not sure why.

Actually I think Rousette was implying she should be held accountable for it.

Implying? What do you mean. I'm not into implying anything

You need more explanation? Here you are then, just for you.
I find it interesting that, on the one hand, Eugenie can be patron of a trafficking charity whilst fully supporting her Father who was heavily involved with two people who trafficked young vulnerable girls, one of whom is in prison for 20 years for trafficking and him paying off one such victim.

There you go, I've explained more fully for you and I hope it suffices

Abdominal surgery on her face?

ArcaneWireless · 06/03/2024 12:04

Those women are not responsible for the acts of their father and can and should support any charity they choose.

But let’s all blame the women right?

As despicable as GM is - and she absolutely deserves to be imprisoned for her part - she is the only person being punished for her actions.

No men.

Because folk love to make women feel responsible for the actions of men.

AlbertoDilemma · 06/03/2024 12:07

Well Eugenie's not her father, so why can't she be patron of this charity? What else isn't she allowed to do because of who her relatives are "heavily involved" with?

You may as well say she can't do this work because her beloved cousin Harry is heavily involved in a charity whose employees rape, torture and terrorise an indigenous tribe.

I need to reply to this.

It’s not my intent to twist anything. I think it was a reasonable theory based on what you wrote.

If that’s not what you meant so be it. But I’m not sure why we would bring in one family member to question the very good work of another.

Perhaps your own family has been always above reproach. We are not all so fortunate. I’m sensitive about people being gossiped about due to the reputation of family members.

Can we leave it now Rousette?

So it's cosmetic surgery today rather than divorce?

If she had a face lift, she would schedule it in the school holidays when she's already out of sight, or at least far enough in advance that she didn't have to cancel engagements.

Aside from your post being distasteful, it's illogical.
