The press has published pics of HRH with her mum in mum Audi on a
"school run." HRH was seated in the front passenger seat.

Wishing HRS Kate a speedy recovery!!

‘but it’s the women given a level of fame and criticism we can’t even fathom.’

evidently

Novella4 · 08/03/2024 09:35

@OliverTwisted

Whatever criticism the ‘royal’ women receive ( and it seems to limited to looks ) there is almost no proper journalistic research and analysis applied to this corrupt family

Yes the Guardian has been diligent and Bylines times too but that part of tue population who do not seek to question the status quo are fed a diet of sycophantic claptrap ( looking at you BBC and mournathon )

OliverTwisted · 08/03/2024 09:43

‘the queen was a mardy looking frump……the ‘royals’ are now just celebrities but without the personality’

‘the unfortunate Hapsburg gene and lose whatever looks they had early.’

‘‘but it’s the women given a level of fame and criticism we can’t even fathom.’’

case in point as they say

Novella4 · 08/03/2024 09:51

I’ll spell it out for you @OliverTwisted

Yes the married in women are subject to scrutiny of their looks . I believe the ‘royals’ themselves promote this as distracting people with the superficial reduces the likelihood of proper questioning of the status quo re money and application of the law

But you know that

Cue the nit pick picnic on posts to deflect from main points made

HA !!! Someone that blows up the narrative.

@Novella4 I am a Journalist overseas though only freelance. Are you one too by any chance ?

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 08/03/2024 09:53

Do they have the Hapsburg gene @Novella4 - genuine question
I could google but not feeling 100%
so meeting instead

Novella4 · 08/03/2024 09:55

I am not a journalist @Primrosecottagelover !

Im just an ordinary ( mardy ) woman and life long republican .

Just highlighting your hypocrisy, don’t let me stop you from criticising the physical attributes of others, especially the women, you seem to really enjoy that aspect of it.

Thank goodness for the journalistic literary standards in the UK

Primrosecottagelover · 08/03/2024 09:57

@Novella4 more of this actual analysis of the institution please ! Why do you think they’re corrupt exactly ? I note that a Charles scandal about paying for a title was quickly squashed. One New York Times reporter once said reporting on the royal family was akin to reporting on a communist government. I think we think there’s freedom of speech but not so sure

OliverTwisted · 08/03/2024 09:59

‘I believe the ‘royals’ themselves promote this as distracting people with the superficial’

pretending this is completely true and accurate, you could make the argument it’s certainly worked on you (based on your posts and how you’ve spoken about appearances)

Novella4 · 08/03/2024 09:59

@OliverTwisted
Not that I have to justify my posts to you :
I called the queen a frump and took it back

Ive been on these threads a long time and I don’t name change

My criticism of the ‘royals’ focuses on their corruption as I’m sure many other long term posters would agree

IwishIcouldfinishabook · 08/03/2024 10:00

The women are the ones that carry the media intrusion & what must be insane pressure on their looks & every move. The fact they can’t speak out about it, the fact they have to be bullied outside by waiting media and screams 12 hours after giving birth (probably bleeding heavily and still swollen) and their image beamed around the world.

I agree with all of your posts, but this I always thought was so bizarre! Kate clearly, hours after birth, felt the need to get a blow dry and makeup artist in so she could present her newborns to the world. It can't be that long of a tradition, because babies were born at home a couple of generations ago. It's not Republicans doing this to these people. It's Monarchists who think standing outside a hospital blocking ambulances for days on end while a woman they don't know is in labour is OK. I doubt there were any republicans crying and screaming hysterically in the faces of two bereaved children either. It's these people ( who the press make money out of) who are the ones ' visiting the zoo' as @OutwiththeOutCrowd so brilliantly put.

OliverTwisted · 08/03/2024 10:00

‘leaving towels on the floor & coming home with lipstick on their collar, until they get dumped.’

so the domanatrix has sold her story?

OliverTwisted · 08/03/2024 10:01

Not quite the the hard hitting brag you think it is

Did you also apologise for the genetic comments? And mardy looking isn’t a compliment and is still an appearance based remark btw

OliverTwisted · 08/03/2024 10:04

I’m just genuinely taken aback that you’re accusing others of reducing them to their looks whilst doing it yourself

OliverTwisted · 08/03/2024 10:06

‘bullied outside by waiting media ‘

agree, it is awful they feel they have to succumb to the pressure, and as we’ve seen on Twitter, the baying is even more amplified. It’s a sad sorry state of affairs. Of course she should have complete privacy in regard to her medical details

OliverTwisted · 08/03/2024 10:10

‘One New York Times reporter once said reporting on the royal family was akin to reporting on a communist government. I think we think there’s freedom of speech but not so sure’

well these comments don’t sound so outlandish when we look at what Harry a titled royal prince said about the first amendment, he called it bonkers

I think the steps thing is weird, but I understand why Kate did it. She clearly had easy births and was buzzing to show off her babies, which many women can relate to (albeit in a much smaller fashion!). Others obviously not so much. (I was in the latter category.)

Get the hair and make up done, get in the dress presumably with layer upon layer of undergarments, smile and show off the baby and then retreat to the privacy of your own home with duty done and the heat off for a bit. It's the royal equivalent of having the MIL you don't particularly like come visit in the hospital with restricted visiting hours so she doesn't set up camp on your sofa for an entire day.

Equally, I can fully understand why Meghan chose not to, and that's great too.

I hadn’t considered maybe she was happy to and wanted to, so I will walk back on my previous point about it.

I very much agree that it’s good both women got to navigate it according to what suited them best.

OliverTwisted · 08/03/2024 10:20

‘I doubt there were any republicans crying and screaming hysterically’

i’m not so sure about that. I’ve heard many a republican recently demand their £2.00 (or however much it is) worth of a Kate update this week

PinkTonic · 08/03/2024 10:20

Princess Anne was the first to be photographed leaving hospital with her new baby.

Edited

Maybe she hated it! In which case, yet again, we all say "poor fecking Kate, what a life". It's just my suspicion that she felt it was worth doing to get it out of the way and keep home private. You would hope if she had difficult births or just didn't want to that William at the very least would've put his foot down on her behalf. Who knows.

Perhaps the handling of her current medical situation indicates they're more comfortable doing that now they're more senior and more experienced, and if that's it then fair play.

ArcaneWireless · 08/03/2024 10:21

Mardy looking frump?

Nice.

But don’t kid on you took it back.

We all saw it for what it was.

A nasty unnecessary swipe which, to be fair, is fuck all to do with being republican.

And everything to do with just being something else entirely.
