I too have been on the end of the " it's alright for you brigade" @AliceOlive !
Mine was particularly upsetting, when dh left the forces he joined a company that still went to active war zones ( a lot , for months!) , this meant he got paid a very large amount.
I only worked part time because frankly my wages were less than his taxes.
The jealousy and comments I had to put up with from a particular colleague was awful!
Everyday I smiled and laughed!
Every night I cried and wondered if he was alive, was he coming home!
I never watched the news till recently because, it was torture , this well meaning cow , would come in and say " have you seen the news? Bombs were dropped! , I hope your dh wasn't there! "
What made it slightly stupid was her geography was shit !
He'd be in Afghanistan, the bombs were in Iraq, he'd be in Iraq , the bombs were in Afghanistan!
I've never forgotten or forgiven her!
