Harry “is willing to return to a temporary royal role in support of his father during his illness, sources have revealed. In an attempt to help heal the rift in the family, the King and Prince Harry are said to have had several “warm exchanges” since Charles received his cancer diagnosis.
The duke is now understood to have told friends that he would step into a royal role while his father is unwell.”

I know I am only going by the media but there is a suggestion H could have been given a diplomatic visa rather than a standard one.

If that is the case it could be why he is pushing so hard to get RAVEC to make him an IPP.

Wouldn't he actually have to be working as a diplomat to get this type of visa? I presume he's been "working" doing Netflix and the like (for which he has earned money), so needs a working visa that covers this type of work.

Propertylover · 24/02/2024 20:22

@Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar As I said there is a suggestion but like you I thought a working visa was more likely.

Theunamedcat · 24/02/2024 21:26

Surely he would need to work to get a working visa

notimagain · 24/02/2024 21:44

I'm not sure but surely by virtue of marriage to a US Citizen he's eligible for a spousal Visa ( ? a CR-1/IR-1,) which I think gives him the right to work....

Yes he is. For normal people, it's quite a long process. I know lots of examples personally and I won't bore you with the details but it's not an easy process.

There is a service here in May to celebrate the 10 years of Invictus Games. I expect Harry will come to it but I would bet Meghan won't.

Devastatedandblindsided · 24/02/2024 12:51

Very true. I am just astonished that he appears to have so little self awareness.

I'm not. He is famously thick and has been cosseted all of his life due only to an accident of birth, not because of anything he has personally achieved.

If he was a plumber living in a council flat in Catford no one would have the least bit of interest in him.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 25/02/2024 12:36

I'd have more interest in a plumber than Harry, especially if he's well rated. Good, skilled workmen are hard to come by. Not so much pointless toffs.

BeaRF75 · 25/02/2024 12:59

There are some really interesting comments here, and I agree re Harry's relationships with the RF. But he also appears to have lost most of his friends, not to mention his maternal family. I know he hasn't trashed the Spencers in public, but there does seem to have been very little contact. And Charles Spencer is no fool - he's the uncle of the next king so, if choices have to be made, he'll be Team William and part of the "in crowd"!

Harry will become ever more isolated, sadly.

I imagine he'll pick up lots of celebrity friends who will stick with him whilst it suits them.

Those they invited to their wedding? I don’t remember seeing them with the Clooneys (who admitted they didn’t know the Sussexes or why they were invited to the wedding) or an of the other celebrities.
I suspect that Meghan and Harry are users; when someone no longer holds their attention then they’re dropped. My sister and BIL are users, no friends and socially isolated.
It seems that the Sussexes only attend where they grab attention.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 25/02/2024 13:50

Harry has indirectly trashed Charles Spencer in public. He used clips from Diana's Martin Bashir/Panorama interview in the Netflix doc. That interview has now been completely disgraced, Bashir having been proven to have used forged documents, and terrible lies about (then) Prince Charles, to persuade both Diana's participation in the interview and Charles Spencer's cooperation. When this was discovered a few years ago, William and Charles S asked that the interview never be shown again, as there's a reason to believe that the paranoia Bashir planted led to Diana sacking her security staff and relying on Mohammed Al Fayed instead.

Omid Scobie in Endgame accused William of trying to silence his mother, and praised Harry for "giving her a voice" by using the Bashir interview in the Netflix doc. You can be pretty sure the Sussexes were direct sources for material in that book.

I'm wondering what will happen with Harry's visa if Trump gets back in. I can imagine him making a bit of a target of H & M actually, he likes to be controversial and they're very much positioned in opposition to him in terms of 'culture wars'. Not quote RTFT so apologies if anyone has mentioned this.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 25/02/2024 15:10

The judge hearing the visa/FOI application is a Trump appointee and described there being a number of “red flags” relating to the matter. I doubt Trump himself would do anything direct, and it’s his government that let Harry enter the US in the first place. However, Biden, wanting to be seen to be being tough on lying, privileged immigrants, in an election year where immigration is the hot topic after the economy, might be a completely different story.

These celebrity ‘friends’ just get allocated and assigned by the PR Management Agency as per commercial and branding requirements - to help each other out.

Seems like the ‘requires improvement class’ has been lumped together eg H&M and Ellen etc

JSMill · 25/02/2024 15:54

Does anyone remember when Trump came on a visit and there was a reception at BP? I think M had just had Archie and H attended alone. He couldn't hide his feelings about Trump, who I believe had said nasty things about M. I thought was disrespectful to his dgm who was hosting and has to be welcoming to visitors, regardless of her personal feelings.

Neither Harry nor Meghan attended that state dinner, although Harry did attend a lunch. What feelings did he not hide about Trump? I don't recall him making any comment, then or since.

Frankly, they should both be thanking Trump - or at least his administration - for allowing Harry to enter the country (in 2020) without the paperwork/visa/scrutiny that is demanded of other foreign visitors.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Were the Only Working Royals to Skip Last Night's State Banquet

Their first child, Archie Harrison, was born just a few weeks ago.

I don't think that'll hold Trump back.

He'd just say that the pertinent matters only came to light after H had arrived in US (courtesy of interviews/books)

StartupRepair · 25/02/2024 19:53

If Trump gets in the behaviour of H and M will be the least of the world's problems.

JSMill · 25/02/2024 20:34

H didn't make a comment at the lunch, his face was like thunder.

CathyorClaire · 25/02/2024 21:12

And Charles Spencer is no fool

Charles Spencer wanked on about protecting Willy and Harold as 'blood family' at Diana's funeral.

Still waiting.

CathyorClaire · 25/02/2024 21:21

That interview has now been completely disgraced

I disagree. Bashir's methods to obtain it were admittedly an entire disgrace but the irony is he didn't need them. Diana wanted a platform. Panorama was well respected and she had free reign. She said what she wanted to say.

The disgrace is Willy trying to suppress it to suit the royal rewrite.

TitusGroaned · 25/02/2024 21:26

Sure Mr Bashir, we believe you.

If someone is coerced into doing something, it’s usually pretty obvious to any reasonable person their autonomy has been violated - the mental gymnastics to justify something like that - mind blowing.

CathyorClaire · 25/02/2024 21:30

Yeah, yeah.

Did you watch it as it was broadcast?

Serenster · 25/02/2024 21:35

It’s like illegally obtained evidence - deemed completely inadmissable because of how it was obtained.
