I just read an article in the DM about this. I really honestly couldn't believe he would do this. I just hope it isn't true. Just how could he. Privacy????.

I still don’t think they will like it. Too many truths.

Yes but whose truth ??

AliceOlive · 23/02/2024 13:05

I think there is a tone. The comment about them burning London bridge. This:

“However, throughout the rest of the week, the visit went on without any of the drama the Sussexes have been more recently associated with.”

SirChenjins · 23/02/2024 13:31

Dramas brought on by themselves.

It’s definitely implied, right? It feels like they got pushed to publish an article about them but kept toes on the line, not exactly a complimentary article.

No it is just badly written 😀 trying to throw you off the scent. But it still tries (clumsily) to project that calm image 🤪 and the idea that they can easily come back to the fold.

I simply cannot imagine the mess it would be if they were allowed to come back. They could do some showing off in Canada but there isn't a chance in hell they can walk around the UK without being booed. Wonder how the prince of the realm feels about that one. Stay home Harold, unless you want to feel openly embarrassed.

Imagine the cheek of him if he really came to tell his father that he could "help" 😱

Nonsense. Of course they could come home. They are both very good at their charity work. And who would actually stand in a crowd for hours only to boo them? They would have to be pretty moronic to do that. If Prince Andrew manages to walk about at Christmas and not get booed, and if Camilla can be rehabilitated, then I am sure Harry and Meghan can do the same.

Coronateachingagain · 24/02/2024 00:40

What charity work exactly? Apart from flying in a private jet to Canada with a wardrobe collection, and going around getting photographed, including in places and with people that have nothing to do with the "cause"?
The reason why they will not be able to rehab is within themselves, not the Brits.

Don't forget, she couldn't believe "she was not getting paid" for it. As if she was paying for anything at all 😀

Of course they could come back to the UK and do their charity work independently of the RF if they wanted - nothing stopping them. Not sure it would give them the Montecito income they want, but if they wanted to support UK charities for purely altruistic reasons then I’m sure there must be causes here that would appreciate their hard work and support.

Vespanest · 24/02/2024 07:43

I could see Harry doing some part time royal work, maybe armed forces/ veteran work. I think Meghan would try full time influencing before or even if she comes back. The last few years have been about Harry and his family past, I think the new reset is going to be Meghan and I could see her doing well, love, hate or just intrigued she brings the clicks.

SirChenjins · 24/02/2024 07:49

P/t royal work? I doubt he’d get to pick and choose - he’d either be in or out, surely?

No chance. He will never be trusted again.

I agree to a point, but they were booed in Canada this week and were booed at the Jubilee.

All of the Royals will get booed at some point - plenty of boos from Republic at the Coronation.

Viviennemary · 24/02/2024 09:06

If they split up Harry will very likely come back and have a chance of getting back in. Meghan wont want to come back and wouldn't be welcome if she did after all the trouble she's caused. True or not she will be blamed. But I think A lot of it was Harry too. That's my opinion.

This. There’s no way the RF will accept him back into the fold - to do so would provide him with years’ worth of new book and interview material. It’s going to be interesting to see what William does with his brother when Charles passes away.

Neither of them are very nice people so neither are getting that stabling influence that some couples need.

KC would probably have Harry back (in a controlled environment) as he probably does suffer some parental guilt but I can’t see William doing so as he won’t have that guilt. Harry is worse than Meghan (and she’s bad enough) as it’s his own family he trashes, his own grandmother in her nineties, I mean it’s despicable behaviour from a grown man.

Hasn't he made it clear that he doesn't want that life though?

He's not just going to up & leave the kids is he?

Would Meghan have any say on them travelling outside of USA without her?

willWillSmithsmith · 24/02/2024 09:31

She doesn’t want to live in the UK so saying she could come back is pointless. Can you really imagine her slipping back into the role she had before plus living back in wet and windy UK? Of course not and good job too. California is where she wants to be and where she belongs and mostly certainly where she’ll stay.

mrsmingleton · 24/02/2024 10:14

Meghan wants to be the Queen Bee in her own little hive. She couldn't take her level in the RF.

But he didn’t write anything that bad about them in the book! It’s only the media’s hyperbolic interpretation of it that has blown the whole thing up. He could have written far worse things I’m sure.

I hope they will have both matured and the brothers will have reconciled by the time William is on the throne; even better if there is no longer a throne after Charles and they can both live a happy life with no reporters chasing after them.

Maireas · 24/02/2024 10:24

😂

Propertylover · 24/02/2024 10:42

@diddl they have in the past made it clear they don’t want the life the RF offered.

However, the new website, the relaunch, the meeting with the indigenous people suggest the do want some of the trappings of the life they could have had.

It's definitely Royal. That's totally who they are. Just not part of the BRF.

Prydddan · 24/02/2024 10:48

@Coronateachingagain
They were booed at one point during the Invictus events. Lots of YouTube posts showing it.

Prydddan · 24/02/2024 10:49

@MrsFinkelstein
Cross post about the booing.
I was surprised that didn't get more mainstream coverage (especially as how the Murdoch press are apparently hell-bent on destroying them).

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 24/02/2024 10:53

We're always being told the tabloids are hell bent on destroying them, and all the while they print numerous puff pieces about the couple. Especially the Express and, oh the irony, the Mirror. Coupled with the Guardian and the Independent, the Sussexes have a lot more positive, British press than certain posters on these boards would have us believe.
