I just read an article in the DM about this. I really honestly couldn't believe he would do this. I just hope it isn't true. Just how could he. Privacy????.

I know H & M have had to put up with a racist & misogynistic media, unpleasant social media all twisting information but that is the one thing they chose to say on camera that I can believe W would not forgive.

The one part of Oprah that was really disingenuous to me, particularly with the benefit of hindsight, was M conflating separate conversations about skin colour and titles to imply the RF we’re not going to give their children titles because of racism/unconscious bias. H looked very uncomfortable when he joined the conversation and stated clearly it was one conversation about skin colour.

Indeed. Harry came into the interview and contradicted M. At this point it was the interviewer Oprah's job to say, 'okay okay, we seem to potentially have a big discrepancy here, guys ... So Harry, you've let your wife harbour a major misunderstanding for how long??'

But Oprah didn't. The 'scoop' was just too good to question, I suppose. And Harry just sat there like a lump momentarily, and reverted back to script.

The chickens were too busy hunched over and crying, because it’s such a high pressure environment. Not, I repeat, not because of bullying…

😂

Serenster · 18/02/2024 13:23

I think H has said after the spare interviews he will not reveal further information.

Meghan and Harry said that after Oprah!

One book, six hours of Netflix, The Me You Can’t See interviews, several hours of podcasts, tv interviews, magazine interviews, award speeches etc later, they are still at it…🤣

Sometimes it’s worth reading the whole thread & being apprised of all the facts before posting.

It is also better to be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and confirm it.

(That comment was not directed at you, @Thegreengreengrassofhomes.)

You know who I feel sorry for? The poor old Daily Express. The try so hard with their royal coverage but all you see here is “Daily Mail readers!” “The Daily Fail” and “Murdoch Media” (some seem to think this applies to all newspapers except The Guardian).

Can we have a Daily Mail raspberry to blow at the next “oh so clever and astute, me” poster who thinks they’ve landed an incredibly clever, nay, unique , insult.

TBF, the Express has pretty much cornered the market on the "apocalyptic weather event coming your way ANY DAY NOW! honest!!! cross our hearts!!!" front. Perhaps they don't have energy for sensational royal coverage as well.

Some though seem to think it includes the Guardian and the BBC 🙄

I agree H responded with a classic response that gave no information. I think H has said after the spare interviews he will not reveal further information. I hope H & M do close the door on sharing anything else but supposedly there are more books that need to be delivered. The additional problem is where exactly did OS get his information from for Endgame?

WRT Oprah, it was clear to me that there were cultural clashes which led to some misunderstandings e.g. UK vs US, celebrity vs royalty. Together with a strong feeling H had not helped M to integrate/understand the institution.

Years later H has said that one conversation was unconscious bias. Then OS in Endgame reveals the names accidentally and H & M remain silent.

With the benefit of hindsight, either Harry did not explain to Meghan exactly how titles work e.g. Archie is Earle of Dumbarton from birth and when my Dad becomes King he will be a Prince or they wanted HMQEII to issue a letter patent making them Prince or Princess from birth. Twisting it to sound as though it was racism that stopped Archie having a title from birth was clearly untrue.

And that obfuscation and the already-heard 'three days before' are what led people to wonder about all the other allegations/suggestions in that interview.

Maireas · 18/02/2024 13:03

"whaaaat?!"

I had heard that so many times in the ads running up to the OW interview, and was already so cheesed off with it that I switched the sound down and read the subtitles during the interview itself.

I do wonder what the likes of Oprah and Tyler Perry think now, Tyler Perry said he only accepted being godfather when he realised the christening would not be in the UK with the Royal family. So despite their efforts to support them when they made a dash for 'freedom and self sufficiency', they have no backtracked and are trying to emulate and get their own piece of the pie being part of the RF brings by capitalising on their connections to the British Royal 'Institution;.

You would also think Oprah and Perry would be horrified at the African Parks scandal and with Harry for doing his level best in trying to bury it.

Can't believe there are so many people that believe the toxic Daily Fail and fall for their 'news' hook, line and sinker. The interview was about Invictus. Harry was asked about his father's Illness and he said 'it is between me and my father' Harry is right, there is unconscious bias. During the Oprah interview neither 'trashed' the family. They explained their side to counter the barage of untrue stories written about them..

Well I can't believe that there are still people who believe what Harry and Meghan have said, hook line and sinker, when it has emerged particularly since the Oprah interview that they have a very loose relationship with the actual truth as opposed to "their truth".

Including where the Archbishop of Canterbury had to deny that they had already been married before the actual wedding day! I mean, why come up with such outlandish crap? They were emphatically NOT "explaining their side there, now were they?

Accused the RF of racism - only for Harry to dial back and say that it wasn't racism, it was unconscious bias, after they had already accepted an award for fighting racism in the RF. The lies that it was racism preventing their children being titled from birth when it is now clear that it absolutely was not!!

They lied through their teeth! All for financial gain. That's pretty fucking low in my book.

My niece looked after him and his party on a flight to the US (cabin crew) and he was nothing but polite and engaging. He learned their names and thanked her for looking after them. A delight it seems. When did you meet him?

I have never met him, and do not wish to
i don’t have to meet someone to form an opinion of them
i was referring to the the cheeky chappie persona presented by the media, which contrasts with his recent behaviour
Glad your niece had a good experience

Coco1379 · 18/02/2024 21:38

They must be running out of attention, or money….

Northernsouloldies · 18/02/2024 21:39

Or both.

SusieLawson · 19/02/2024 12:16

Harry and Meghan have tried to turn what's supposed to be an institution, the head of state, head of military, government and everything into the Kard' type USA talentless celeb industry. Plus the royals make staff sign secrecy documents, while Harry wrote his own book giving away secrets to make money.
I'm not keen on Charles either though, as everybody seems brainwashed from remembering that he made everybody think if he married Camilla he would pass the crown on to William. After how he acted, proposing to the teenage Diana, expecting her to be untouched by any man before, getting her pregnant by 20, while Camilla was a married woman in her 30s with children, and knew she was making Diana unhappy still sleeping with Charles, and gaslighting Diana to look like the crazy one.
Although neither of the boys have the guts to call their daughters Diana as a first name, out of fear of offending Charles.

Maireas · 19/02/2024 13:09

Charles never, ever claimed that he would "pass the crown to William", married to Camilla or not.

PrincessWildernessOfWherever · 19/02/2024 13:24

He never said he would step down in favour of William.

Diana was a teenager, but was over the age of consent. I think she was naive and lacking in good advice, but she chose to accept Charles after only a short period of dating. And, presumably, was happy with becoming a mother, there's no sign he raped her or she was somehow denied access to contraception. So 'getting her pregnant' does rather deny her agency and choice.

Both Diana's grand daughters have her name, though not as a first name. Maybe her sons want to honour her memory but not use her name as the everyday name for their own daughter?

FramboiseRoyale · 19/02/2024 13:39

I think it a lot more likely that William and Harry have not used Diana's name as a first name because they want to avoid the extra attention a new "Princess Diana" would bring. I doubt it has anything to do with Charles, but more with protecting their daughters.

And as others have said, Charles never said he would pass the throne to William. And the requirement that his bride "have no past" as it was referred to in the day was an expectation of the RF and courtiers. It was another aspect of why Charles, in waiting until he was in his early 30s to marry (in itself an understandable decision), was essentially left with no choice to marry a very young woman; I doubt that there were many 30 year old virgins around for him to choose from.
