New Sussex website

So I see there is a brand-new Duke and Duchess of Sussex website. Very glossy.

But the self-aggrandising! I just read Meghan’s bio and - cringe - it was the worst of LinkedIn. Sometimes less is more!

Do you also agree that the inherited weather of the rest of the royals would be better spent on helping the truly vulnerable? After all they receive money from taxpayers, shouldn't our money go to sorting actual problems in our country.

Maybe they should all their properties to help tackle homelessness instead why keep them empty? They don't need 8+ bedrooms. After all isn't that Williams new pet project...to end homelessness...except let's do it without leading from the front and other people's money not his.

And let's face it every single person who takes a plane or car to go anywhere is a bloody hypocrite when it comes to the environment and climate change issues.
Let's stop demonising people over it if your not perfect yourself

Are you not familiar with 1984? THATs why people refer to ‘hate’

Yes, it was a text when I did English A level. Apart from that, IMO connecting Orwell's fiction to people's opinions about the Sussexes is such a reach I'm surprised you haven't permanently strained a muscle group.

Orwell was warning about how easily people are manipulated by the media/ elites - look at any of the numerous hate threads here as evidence !

😁😁I’m currently sitting in a station cafe soaking wet and that has given me my first giggle of the day.

How do you know this? Because Pier Morgan told you so? How on earth do you know what they do day to day? And how is what you accuse them of different from any other celebphilantherpreneurs?

Posters on here never read the media doncha know... never influenced by it, they just stumbled across this new website that obviously wasn't reported on at all. 😂

@Ramalangadingdong - I know this because they're so public about everything they 'do' they're hardly going to be silent about actually doing anything good worthy or worthwhile ... seriously 🙄

I can understand anti royalist dislike of the royals and many points I can agree on, what I can’t understand is using this argument to defend two royals who still want the benefits of being royal, still want the titles, still fighting for British taxpayers money, Harry still holds allegiance to the crown, Harry is still the nephew of Andrew. Harry hasn’t ruled out future royal engagements.

FloofCloud · 14/02/2024 10:10

@Novella4 .... easily manipulated eh ... yep! Easily manipulated by solipsistic narcs and their entourage of photographers capturing every image they can possibly monetise, or the very expensive PR companies who try to elevate their status .... 🤔

Carpediem

Oh no, not the Andrew card AGAIN!

I challenge you to find anyone, either on MN or in real life who disagrees about Andrew. He's not a controversial figure in the sense that we would all probably like to push him over a cliff. What is there to disagree about?

The problem is, the wretched man hasn't actually been convicted of a crime in this country (has he? please correct me if I'm not up to speed). While we all may have the same opinion, it limits what anyone, including KC, can do about him. I don't think there's any love lost there, but evicting him from his home may not be possible just because KC doesn't like him. Does anyone else know the legal niceties - I don't?

Andrew is beyond awful. What else can we say? If someone learned in the law can explain what can and can't be done about him in this country, I'd be keen to here.

But it's a digression - OP wasn't asking about him.

If they are selling alternative therapies or medicine it wouldn't be a good idea to promote her princess title.

I remember some years ago Chris O'Neill (husband of Princess Madeleine) got a warning from the Swedish Palace that he must stop using Princess Madeleine and her royal titles in advertising materials for his business.

It was mentioned here and that’s why I knew about it. I don’t follow social media or read the press in general.

I do read a variety of media, even The Mail, and try to read the same stories in different papers and on news sites because each has an agenda, although I first read the website story here. Of course the media has influence on what we think about things, it affects far more than just Harry and Meghan as I'm sure you'll agree.

What I don't understand, and I'm asking you because I have never read you attacking anyone and read your posts with interest, what I don't understand is why reading the media means I can't form an opinion based on words people have actually said and the decisions they have made. By this I mean words I have heard them say in interviews.

(It is foolish of course to say the media don't sway me unfairly sometimes but I try to look at the source and change my mind if necessary based on the facts)

This IS social media.

Yes, apart from this site. As previously said I form my opinions on what they SAY and what they DO.

Thank you for your calm and measured post, most refreshing I will say. I, like you, read a variety of media outlets although I do avoid reading the DM in detail, but headlines of various articles from it that pop up on my feeds tell me what I need to know as far as that outlet. Sometimes I will look at some of the media outlets to check on the comments below because that often gives more of a true measure as to what the population really think.

Yes, of course, you can form your own opinion and it sounds like you do! I was just picking up on posters yesterday saying they never read the press/media and only form their opinions on words that have come directly out of H&M's words. To be honest with you, I don't believe that, because to access those words coming out of their mouths, it is via media sources (if that makes sense)
I appreciate your post and your calm discussion with me.

The U.K. are haterz!!
Well all I will say is on this thread alone quite a lot of posters criticising this latest amusing misstep are not actually from the U.K. !

I was in America a couple of times last year, different states, and everyone seemed to hate them. I never brought them up, but plenty of Americans did when they heard my accent. They definitely didn't seem popular in the States.
