New Sussex website

So I see there is a brand-new Duke and Duchess of Sussex website. Very glossy.

But the self-aggrandising! I just read Meghan’s bio and - cringe - it was the worst of LinkedIn. Sometimes less is more!

The site is just two bios??

I have more time for Harry and Meghan than the rest of the royals. At least they are earning their money. The rest of the royals could do the same instead of dipping into the pockets of the British people.

How did Harry get his wealth?
By what means have they accrued wealth as a couple?

I read that Meghan has signed with Lemonada Media to deliver podcasts . I have never heard of them .

Honestly, I don't see what's wrong with their website. It's no more cringey than most people's LinkedIn profiles.

I think a good step towards a Global Society is to make peace with loved ones, consider errors in behaviour, and try to make amends.

What are "wonderful ripples across humanity" when they're at home?

i hope Charles takes heed of this - when he is on the mend, of course.

The opposite of the nastiness being spread by a lot of people on this thread.

I'm sure he will. In the meantime it would be nice if Meghan and Harry to perhaps consider things that they have said and done.
They are not saints, they are not martyrs.

There is no way that they or their parents can be stripped of them - blame the absurdity of the monarchy for that.

The children absolutely can be stripped of their titles. Prince Charles can issue new letters patent revising the ones from the early 20th century to clarify that only children of the sovereign and children of the heir to the throne are styled as a Prince or Princess. And at the stroke of a pen, they’d be de-Princed/Princessed.

Least you think that’s unlikely, when the rules around this were tidied up and re-written last, Prince Louis of Battenburg lost his title. And Queen Margarete of Denmark downgraded 4 of her grandchildren from Princes to Counts in the last couple of years. They were her second sons’ children and were busy making a living as models as influencers using their titles - it’s assumed she didn’t approve.

So it can be done. Doesn’t mean it will, of course.

The monarchist Tory MP who recently proposed stripping them of their titles actually proposed doing it via a Titles Deprivation Act Amendment Bill which would allow a vote in Parliament to advise the Privy Council to strip a member of the royal family of their titles.

Even he referred to it as the 'nuclear option' though.

Restricting royal titles to the sovereign's and heir's children would mean a lot of other current 'princes/princesses' losing their titles too. Which would lead to a lot of animosity and to royals being even thinner on the ground than they currently are (doesn't stop them taking even more public money however).

Tory MP proposes law to strip Harry and Meghan of royal titles

Royal family members who “trash” the institution could be stripped of their titles under a new law proposed by a Conservative MP.

Many people do not understand her skillset and expletive (clearly)

I’m not sure what is meant by expletive in this context but I bet there are many, many people who understand and have experience of her skill set.

I just misread that as 'I hope Charles takes his head off'. Grin

Pinkdaffodils900 · 13/02/2024 19:29

Why do some people think Meghan and Harry should be exempt from criticism? It's not like they're above criticising others, often in quite an invasive and personal way. We are just writing comments on a thread a few thousand might read at most, Harry said awful things about his family knowing they'd be read across the globe.

You saved me typing it, IcedPurple Wink

Perhaps it was an arcane reference to the Ripple of Hope Award - you know, the one they got for standing up against racism in the palace which Harry later clarified wasn't actual racism?

I don't agree @wildernesssw . Every single person would put what shows them in the best light on a CV, on Linkedin, on their website, on the 'about us' of a small company they run and so on.

If most people put a uni internship on their CV when they were 42, they would quite rightly be laughed at!

Apologies if this has been noted already, but all the Archewell impact reports have been removed from their website. A 404 error pops up.

...and never happened, and oh, the children are prince and princess after all! Funny, that.

Livingtothefull · 13/02/2024 19:34

'Harry said awful things about his family knowing they'd be read across the globe.'

Enlighten us about the 'awful things' he said exactly? Harry talked about his experience as a member of his family - something many people do in discussing their life experiences and challenging aspects of this. He didn't ask to be born into the RF after all.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 13/02/2024 19:36

I’ll add my extra two cents here. Years ago my DB was living with his girlfriend for about 8 years. When they broke up he met and moved in with someone else very quickly afterwards. This woman had partly been in care and abused and had undergone psychiatry treatment to help her. Next thing we knew my DB was talking to me and my parents about his “traumatic” childhood and teenage life. He accused the son of a close family friend of having sexually abused him at a huge family and friends birthday annual picnic which I know for a fact was a lie and couldn’t have happened. There might have been the odd truth but she was deflecting her own traumatic past onto him and making him think and resurface false traumas. They got married too but she was controlling very like Meghan. She tried to alienate him from his family and friends and almost succeeded but he saw my DM bringing his stepdaughters to visit every month or fortnight. It’s basically a carbon copy of what H&M’s relationship is and DB luckily is divorced and happily remarried with DC. I don’t necessarily think Meghan is the evil witch that some do, though I do think she’s manipulative and controlling. I recall seeing the burger advert over lockdown and I laughed a bit at her subsequent feminist spiel. She really is a turncoat, hard to believe her which is such a shame. Hopefully Harry will see her for what she is at some stage as he’s damaged and that’s why he’s been drawn to her. When they both met she wanted one thing - kids and marriage with a rich high profile man and he wanted marriage with a woman who’d be able to take it on. It’s a pity he and Chelsey Davy never worked out as they looked happy together.

It reminds me of receiving CV's that smack of bollox when read. Their website unashamedly blows up insignificant events into massive "achievements".

In Catherine Tate's words "what a load of old shit"

ROFL at a load of old shit.
You can't bullshit a bullshitter that's for sure!
