So I see there is a brand-new Duke and Duchess of Sussex website. Very glossy.

But the self-aggrandising! I just read Meghan’s bio and - cringe - it was the worst of LinkedIn. Sometimes less is more!

'Harry said awful things about his family knowing they'd be read across the globe.'

Enlighten us about the 'awful things' he said exactly? Harry talked about his experience as a member of his family - something many people do in discussing their life experiences and challenging aspects of this. He didn't ask to be born into the RF after all.

Harry has said terrible things about his family full stop including of accusing them of being racist. Not just in his book.

Apologies if this has been noted already, but all the Archewell impact reports have been removed from their website. A 404 error pops up.

😅

@Puzzledandpissedoff thanks . Not only have I never heard of the company but I have only heard of one person on the list of podcasters . But I am old !

It appears they cannot even get the new website done properly..The Lord Chamberlain is not too chuffed as apparently you cannot use your title s if you are promoting a business or philanthropic intent due to the patents act. Wonder of they got the permissions they needed? Doubt it!! Whoops cocked up again!

Just being watching the black belt barrister view, they have certainly blurred the lines and the business part is problematic, there not even hiding that this is a business venture

charles will be forced to act. The only thing I can see at his disposal is to remove the Sussex titles and leave Harry as a prince. But I’m not sure that will stop them.

And if he does how will t hey spin that? Their victimhood would be off the scale and it will play well with many Americans although even they're getting fed up of them. If they lose their royal cachet they have nothing, that's their entire raison d'etre, they will not even get as many invitations to present noddy awards in glittering settings.

The site is just two bios??

Yes. They could have saved a lot of money just inserting a hyperlink from Archewell to their Wikipedia pages.

I really can’t be bothered to name them all (I’m unwell with a virus anyway) but it’s in the Netflix documentary, any interview H&M have given including Oprah. Read/watch for yourself. And if it’s not said it’s implied.

More to the point, if you type in archewell.com it takes you straight to this new Sussex website rather than Archewell itself Confused

Edited to add that Archwell is linked within the new site though, so maybe this latest one is an "umbrella" for the whole shebang IYSWIM?

There is no way that they or their parents can be stripped of them - blame the absurdity of the monarchy for that.

The children absolutely can be stripped of their titles. Prince Charles can issue new letters patent revising the ones from the early 20th century to clarify that only children of the sovereign and children of the heir to the throne are styled as a Prince or Princess. And at the stroke of a pen, they’d be de-Princed/Princessed.

Least you think that’s unlikely, when the rules around this were tidied up and re-written last, Prince Louis of Battenburg lost his title. And Queen Margarete of Denmark downgraded 4 of her grandchildren from Princes to Counts in the last couple of years. They were her second sons’ children and were busy making a living as models as influencers using their titles - it’s assumed she didn’t approve.

So it can be done. Doesn’t mean it will, of course.

King Carl Gustav of Sweden downgraded the role and titles of 6 of his grandchildren who are not in the direct line, the children of Prince Carl Phillip/Princess Sofia and Princess Madeleine/Chris O'Neill. They will not be working Royals and no longer have HRH titles.

In addition Princess Madeleine, who did her own step back from being a working royal and moved to Florida, needs to educate her children in Sweden for them to remain in the line of succession.

What are the 'terrible things'

This was a lovely anecdote:

His father, who was living nearby, spotted a Typhoon aircraftt_ flying low overhead one day and figured it was Harry, so “got into his Audi and hurried over”, he writes.
“He said he could see how good I was getting at this new job. Above all, he could see how hard I was working at it, and that delighted him.
“I felt buoyed by his praise but I had to get back to work. I was mid-control, couldn’t tell the Typhoon to please hold on a moment.”
Prince Harry says his father told him to get “back to work”.
"He drove off. As he went down the track I told the Typhoon: new target. Grey Audi. Headed south-east from my position down track. Towards a big silver barn orientated east-west," he writess_.
“The Typhoon tracked Pa, did a low pass straight over him, almost shattering the windows of his Audi.
“But ultimately spared him. On my orders.

Are they closing down Archewell then? What happens with all of the money?

27Mankinis · 13/02/2024 19:51

I am of the opinion that what H claimed about his family being racist - which he back pedalled on after a fair whack of damage had been done... and then was happy to pick up a stupid award for 'combating racism in the royal family' or whatever the fuck it was is really quite fucking shitty.

However- his comments about people who had no chance of defending themselves and no power in the face of a Prince were despicable. His comments about his former school matron who had scoliosis and was in pain and his description of how he used to mock her reveals the person he is. Tone deaf. Thick. Nasty.

I'm glad we no longer seem to be paying for him. I think anyone who falls for the crap and the self aggrandisement enough to pay them money in the form of buying books or commissioning crap tv- well good luck to them.

I am aware of many of the things Harry have said about his family, though I am not sure whether they are in fact 'terrible' or why he should not be entitled to openly say things about his family history which he believes to be true - as many many other people do every day & are often applauded for.

I hope you feel better soon by the way.

LilibetPerumphibumf · 13/02/2024 19:54

Spared him?

On his orders?

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Mind you, as King he could be thought of as a chess piece too…

I would like to add at this point that the very, very great majority of service personnel are not this stupid or delusional to think that we can do as we please when in charge of military hardware.

And if this had came out while he was still in service it would have been dealt with accordingly.

If they do, then same answer as to what happened to the money transferred from the Royal Foundation to Travalyst ...

We'll probably never know

MaturingCheeseball · 13/02/2024 19:59

Regarding Archewell.. I hope it is being properly scrutinised. Word is that all H&M’s costs are being run through it as “charitable” expenses. The money “raised” was apparently just from Tyler Perry - and he hasn’t “donated” again. If Archewell is closed down then possibly that hides the transactions.

I can't figure out what it's for. I've seen people say it is a business but I can't see anything vaguely business about it. As someone said it is just two CVs, fancy CVs though.

AcrossthePond55 · 13/02/2024 20:01

Just looked at the site. As me old dad used to say "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit".

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/02/2024 20:03

It's the "which he believes to be true" bit that's the problem though, given the number of tales he's told which provably aren't

But then this is Harry who wrote in Spare that "Whatever the cause, my memory is my memory, it does what it does, gathers and curates as it sees fit, and there's just as much truth in what I remember and how I remember it as there is in so-called objective facts"
