New Sussex website

So I see there is a brand-new Duke and Duchess of Sussex website. Very glossy.

But the self-aggrandising! I just read Meghan’s bio and - cringe - it was the worst of LinkedIn. Sometimes less is more!

I don't agree @wildernesssw . Every single person would put what shows them in the best light on a CV, on Linkedin, on their website, on the 'about us' of a small company they run and so on.

It appears that Meghan has to abide by different rules than the rest of the population according to you. It is her prerogative.

I've done low status jobs on occasion, but never felt the need to airbrush them out. I've also had some senior management positions, and never needed to exaggerate them. Because if someone has a problem with what I have done/achieved, that is a good sign we're not a good fit. I would rather find the people / positions where what I bring is valued, rather than having to constantly lie or hide reality.

Each to their own, I suppose.

Everyone is entitled to say what they want regardless of what you think about it. Because someone has a different opinion from you it doesn't entitle you to talk about the fact that the poster is not showing themself a good light. It is not your place to comment on someone's character because their opinion differs from yours.

I don't need reprimanding thanks.

Your analysis at 14.52 is rather insulting is it not? Especially as windernessw says how there is nothing wrong with climbing up the acting pole to achieve great heights.

Vespanest · 13/02/2024 15:23

It’s always the timing, the reconciliation efforts followed with immediate poking of the bear. Charles must be dumbfounded on what they actually want

oakleaffy · 13/02/2024 15:23

Grifting off the royal “Tidles “ yet kicking dirt in the Royal’s direction?
Hypocrisy at it’s finest.
Odious couple of chancers.

oakleaffy · 13/02/2024 15:25

Meghan has probably climbed up many a greasy pole to get where she wants to be.
Using men from her father onwards.

But the website is so grandiose! Sure, people can put whatever they like on a website, but if this is - I assume - intended to make them look royal and serious players in Hollywood and beyond - then it is cringeworthy. I suppose like a CV or LinkedIn it is selling themselves, but I wonder who will be buying?

Hahaha it is a bit OTT and cringe

But at the same time I love that they are referring to ‘living with their children Prince Archie and Princes Lilibet’ And how angry it makes people 🤣 Who really cares?

In fact if the rumours are true it’s not just the casting couch, yacht girl etc pole climbing she’s done but a whole level of grifting to meet eg Ashley Cole, her first choice and then Prince Harry (and then denies she ever knew much about them until Nikki Priddy shared the infamous tourist pic of them in front of Buckingham Palace. At least if you’ve done the latter just own it and admit to it rather than deny otherwise it looks like you’re eg Katherine Howard denying you were married to Francis Dereham and was a virgin before marrying Henry VIII, who was admittedly mad, jealous, a control freak and lots of other unsavoury things.

derxa · 13/02/2024 15:31

I admire Meghans ability to pick herself up and carry on. However I don’t admire her habit of using other people. Her uncle got her an internship and she couldn’t even give him an invitation to her wedding. Then she had the cheek to put this on her website. I don’t understand that mindset.

Also, 'launching a website' seems very outdated. Social media is where everything happens these days. The way it's formatted also seems quite amateurish to me. Kind of like a school project. The pretentious and verbose way the 'bios' are written goes along with that. If I was their teacher, I'd tell them that less is sometimes more.

Because they have to state their titles and include in that sentence the pet but royal name Lilibet. Wonder why they didn’t name Archie, Charles or Richard?! But in history both those royal names have had bad blood literally attached to them.

The point is that I am not talking about you in that post. I am talking about Meghan as I am entitled to. You were talking about another poster as you do.

Oh I missed how the intro - "well done for cross checking my posts" 😁

If you take my comment as a reprimand then at least that says something.

@IcedPurple initially I thought it was AI as it reads so factual and hardly inspiring but my AI checker tells me it was written by a "human" .

I'm in bed today so I have time on my hand and looked up Suits credit sequences. I did watch a few episodes a while ago but couldn't remember them.

Anyway 3 men then Meghan's name but no image arrives with Sarah Rafferty's name appearing before her name goes then "and Gina Torres".

If you want to talk status Gina wins because she has an "and". From my viewing I think all three got about equal screen time depending on the storyline.

But having said that, for Meghan to have been an above the credits actress in a tv programme that ran for that many seasons makes her hugely successful. Most actors never get a tv show at all, I liked listening to rewatch podcasts and almost every actor I've heard emphasises how lucky they were to be in a show that makes it out of the pilot stage.

I think it's unfair to say she wasn't successful, she wasn't an A list star true but she did really well in a tough career.

I still find the website odd, I'm not outraged by it but do wish there was somewhere to discuss how celebrities and royals present themselves without having to pick a team.

I knew Gina Torres- and face one of the men before suits.

I don't think suits was actually big enough to raise the actors profiles that much in UK - but I agree Meghan career was successful in a very hard industry.

But suits was not widely watched in UK and Meghan was not a huge acting name -I'd say both were a success on their own terms but like their website I often see their supporters over promoting both here which does invite ridicule and diminishes their actual success.

What a load of self- congratulatory bollocks. 😂

I agree. The phrase 'chat shit, get banged' is apt!

mrsmingleton · 13/02/2024 15:38

Charles in London for treatment has already shoved this down the page. (Did I say this already? 😂)

disappointed no merch e-commerce. I wanted to pick up a cap and a tin of biscuits.

Yes, let's leave it. 👍

There is nothing unusual in reflecting while looking back, and saying that the ignorance/insecurities of youth meant I accepted XYZ. The message I send my younger self is ABC. (If I had my time again there are a couple of ex-boyfriends who would receive short shrift!)

Just think how powerful it would be if she said 'I was under pressure to take roles which went against my principles, and I shouldn't have been put in that position. But I was, and looking back I wish I had done X instead of Y.'

Or, simply 'I wanted to make it as an actor, and I did what was necessary' - though of course that does raise the question of where her limits and fundamental principles were.

As it is the message I take is that her clearly stated values and principles now are either different to those when she was younger, or that her values and principles are not that strongly held. And that she wishes to airbrush that out.
