New Sussex website

So I see there is a brand-new Duke and Duchess of Sussex website. Very glossy.

But the self-aggrandising! I just read Meghan’s bio and - cringe - it was the worst of LinkedIn. Sometimes less is more!

Well said @Pointerdogsrule

No one I know cares a fig about the RF, or H&M, apart from one Royalist very good friend I have, and we just avoid talking about all things Royal ! Gen Z are certainly not the slightest bit interested and I know lots of them.

Every time there is a thread like this (outrage at something H&M are doing/done) I think surely there can't be any more insulting phrases to be used, but yep, there's always more! Calling people names and writing reams of unpleasant sentences about two people who live on the other side of the world, and aren't tax payer funded, is odd, just odd. It seems discussion is impossible by some, it's just slurs and insulting words.

Pointerdogsrule · 13/02/2024 14:43

The five stages of Harry and Meghan bashing

1) Denial-
Dis-belief at the latest news article

2)Anger
How very dare they

3)bargaining
Accuse them of money grabbing, although they take no tax money

4) depression
That they haven't divorced

5) acceptance
It's all Meghan's fault and I actually feel sorry for Harry.

😂

Roussette · 13/02/2024 14:43

Oh well. Even Suits was better than this burger ad from 2013.

What's the point of you posting that? Are you into degrading women or something?

OhmygodDont · 13/02/2024 14:45

I blame Harry. His an idiot frankly who’s likely
led her on some wild story of fairy tales and what not. Clearly doesn’t even know his own families roles really.

wildernesssw · 13/02/2024 14:45

The ad seems to be the acting equivalent of the internship - why list one and not the other?

Another win for H&M is that nobody's talking about Superbowl.of that Vogue cover.

RestingPassportFace · 13/02/2024 14:47

Equity means being fair. We use it at school to explain there are students at school with additional needs that do need to be treated differently, in order for them to have an equal playing field.

What would people on here have preferred re names?
Had they decided to rebrand entirely and gone to
Henry and Rachel Mountbatten-Windsor

or Harry and Meghan Windsor

they'd have been slaughtered in the press.
Harry isn't wrong when he says
And what difference would it make?
regarding giving up the titles. They're damned either way.

Meghan was not seen doing anything for months. But her name sells papers hence the Mail having a whole section on them.
Andrew's still Prince Andrew despite all he's done (and the latest mini series about that interview).

It is a shame. They were an asset. They were popular before being briefed against. Dan Wooton absolutely knew Callum Stephens and his partner Christian Jones. The Cambridges were never that naive.

What a silly thing to say. How is an internship at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires the same as that advert?

My DD did an internship, it's on her Linkedin. She's also done lots of other things that would not be appropriate or right to put on her CV or Linkedin.

when Meghan and Harry are criticised

No, personally attacked for who they are, rather than their actions. Big difference.

And who the fuck is Normie ?

wildernesssw · 13/02/2024 14:51

The advert is the sort of thing aspiring actors do, isn't it? They take the jobs they can get while working towards better roles. And presumably there was a competitive process for choosing her, and she was the best applicant. Why be embarrassed about it?

Given the focus on her acting career in her biog, I think her early roles are more relevant than an unrelated internship.

The five stages of defending H&M and insulting those who criticise them

1) Denial- refusing to acknowledge their words and actions.

2) anger- how dare others notice their behaviour and own words, then interpret them differently than me.

3) bargaining- accuse others of being sheep , plebs , forelock tuggers , only reading the daily Mail and unable to form coherent opinions.*

  1. depression-* that others still won't agree with their opinions on H&M .

5) acceptance- no it's not me it's them they are in the wrong, their opinions are not valid.

Of course Meghan starred in Suits and of course she wasn't the only star!

Oh well. Even Suits was better than this burger ad from 2013.

OMG I have never seen that before. The biting of the lip all the time to say only one thing about it. So much female empowerment there - let you hair down, open up your dress and show your bra, bend seductively over a BBQ biting your lip and then stick it all in your mouth at the end 😂

Thank you, imitation is the greatest form of a compliment ! xx
😘 I like you too @jeffgoldblum

I remember being amazed in my young days when an actor I had seen in a drama series (anyone remember By the Sword Divided? A civil war drama series!) turned up in a washing powder commercial a couple of years later. Why not? I am sure if something more prestigious had come along she wouldn't have done the commercial, but if you want an acting career you take the work you are offered.

I can’t criticise Meghan for the burger advert: a person has to take on any job on any terms to survive in the acting industry.

However, I will criticise posters for complaining about poking fun at the new website and, as I said before, resorting to the “why are you interested?” So, Supporters, (wo)man up and defend it or tell us why the website is good/wonderful? Do enlighten us because I for one am missing why it is not ridiculous.

Everyone can choose what they would like to put in a CV or on Linkedin. You don't own Meghan. She can choose to leave that out if she so wishes. It's her choice. Not yours.
To me, I imagine it's you trying to degrade her in some way, whilst she was aiming to become an actress in a cut throat business. It doesn't show you in a good light particularly. I admire her for achieving that role in Suits and earning acclaim and very good money. Everyone has to start somewhere.

It would just be an endless source of ridicule for you anyway.

BotterMon · 13/02/2024 14:55

It reminds me of receiving CV's that smack of bollox when read. Their website unashamedly blows up insignificant events into massive "achievements".

In Catherine Tate's words "what a load of old shit"

One of my DM's neighbours has had a successful career in the performing arts all his life. You won't have heard of him, he has never starred in anything. But until COVID he was continually employed in West End shows, local theatres, adverts etc. He is finally building this up again and moving more into directing - again, small scale and unglamorous productions, but they pay the bills, bring pleasure to people, and he loves his job. There is nothing 'degrading' about it. He would 'degrade' himself if he tried to pretend that it was more glamorous than it is, but he doesn't. He simply earns a living in an industry he loves.

Why are you sneering at that?
