Hello 👋, I thought it might be nice to have a thread we can discuss our cheesy feelings, food delights and general discourse about the royal family.

I’m fromaged up to the eyeballs. After a particularly cheesy fare using half the Cheddar last night, I hit the Gruyère today. Marmite toast and Gruyère for breakfast, ham and Gruyère sandwich for lunch and gnocchi with garlic mushrooms and Gruyère for dinner. I can feel my arteries closing.

Eh? Sounds like a perfect diet to me. Well, with the addition of a Twix and some tiramisu. Sorted.

wildernesssw · 15/02/2024 21:12

Like a Hollywood medieval banquet, perhaps? 😂

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 15/02/2024 21:14

I had a large glass of red for the anti oxidants, and some strawberries dipped in Nutella for the fibre. And half of a mini egg chocolate slab. And crisps, nuts and a comedy fruity lager. I think I have covered all the food groups.

Maireas · 15/02/2024 21:16

I think you have. Good work 👍

wildernesssw · 15/02/2024 21:18

@Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar you are a constant inspiration.

In your honour I am going to stream a 30 minutes youtube workout while watching candycrush

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 15/02/2024 21:23

Oh thank you, @wildernesssw 🤣🤣🤣

I went to Pilates earlier and stretched all the calories away too 😇

I need to start my own version of the Tig. The Jig, short for the jiggle of my tummy after all the cheese.

Oooh, I went to Pilates earlier as well! Then I ate cheese when I came back. Buffallo Mozzarella 😋

RoyallyRhubarb · 15/02/2024 22:19

I was loading around on the internet and found a recipe for sausage lasagna so I made it with THREE TYPES of cheese (ricotta, mozzarella and Parmesan) and it was horrible. Mind you, this website also has recipes for Dorito casserole (make mince with El Paso sauce and then shove a lot of Doritos on the top voila! A healthy casserole).

I had the hugest mozzarella ball on a some roasted pumpkin the other night, was lovely. I wonder if you can do a superman and shovel cheese in with the free hand whilst remaining perfectly balanced? I need to try this.

🤣 What’s this website? Cook With Mr Creosote??

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 16/02/2024 07:54

@RoyallyRhubarb that website is superb! Tato Tot casserole 😂They clearly have no appreciation for the shepherd in a Shepherd’s Pie - anything but lamb!

wildernesssw · 16/02/2024 08:03

I especially enjoy the use of pre-prepared mixes for everything e.g. the cornbread topping of the first recipe!

Many years ago I visited a friend on my birthday weekend, and she said we would make a cake. I was envisaging eggs, butter, flour etc, but having been brought up in the USA she produced a packet of cake mix

smilesy · 16/02/2024 08:44

I always think that “ground beef” sounds really unappetising. I know it’s just a linguistic thing but “mince” doesn’t sound quite as artificial 🤢😆

RoyallyRhubarb · 16/02/2024 10:28

My daughter’s BF is American and he loves British cheese as it doesn’t come out of a can 🤢

RoyallyRhubarb · 16/02/2024 10:29

Anyway, the sausage casserole was not good and I won’t be making it again.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 16/02/2024 10:31

I think once you retire from the armed forces you don't use the title, except for a few senior ranks

Major and upwards, IIRC. DGF always used to be a bit 🙄about a neighbour who kept calling him Major X after he'd retired, though.

jeffgoldblum · 16/02/2024 10:48

Funnily enough @RoyallyRhubarb , I made a sausage lasagna for tea last night!!!!
Wasn't from a recipe though, I had to use up sausage's unexpectedly!!
I minced them first ( re minced??) , dh liked it! ( it was his sausage error!) , I wasn't keen!
The only good thing about it was the white sauce I made and the cheese topping!!

Sausages used in a sort of bolognese are good though, especially if they are herby ones like Lincolnshire or Cumberland. I take
them out of their skins and brown them
with onion, carrot and celery . Then add a stock cube and some passata. Really good with grated Stilton on top… 😆 my youngest loves it and doesn’t notice all the veg as I grate the carrot and chop the celery very small. The Stilton was his idea

RoyallyRhubarb · 16/02/2024 12:06

Bugger, I took a load of leftover frozen Christmas Stilton out of the freezer yesterday to make broccoli and Stilton soup. If only I’d saved some for the sausages then it might have been nice.

I have a Harry conspiracy theory.

The 18th Earl of Pembroke’s father was called Henry.

They ARE all related though aren’t they 😂

RoyallyRhubarb · 16/02/2024 12:31

And Diana allegedly did know Henry quite well.

JaneJeffer · 16/02/2024 12:45
