So Harry flew for 11 hours and then spoke to his father for 45 minutes ? Charles then bobbed to Sandringham by helicopter and Harry checked into a hotel. I mean wouldn't you think Harry would have gone to Sandringham with Charles maybe ?

The problem for Harry is that no one will tell him much, for obvious reasons. Therefore he will worry that there is more to this than he is being told, loves his Dad and is worried about him and wants to see for himself how he is. You can tell a lot more about how well, or otherwise, someone is from seeing them in person.

I think he got the snub.

I think Harry getting on a plane within hours was quite dramatic and Charles is trying to play it down. I couldn't help but think he should have asked his dad when suited for him to travel, and been slightly less hasty.

It just made me wonder whether, perhaps, things are worse than we've been led to believe.

BBC have been reporting that Charles wants to be open about his condition but we have no idea what kind of cancer it is, what kind of treatments he's having, any kind of prognosis etc. That's not open at all and, while it's obviously up to him what he does and doesn't share, it feels like something he announced minimal details of before it was leaked in the media, rather than actually any kind of attempt of raising the profile of cancer.

Bodies wear out when they are very old. We are not designed to live to that age. We succumb more easily to things like cancer. I didn’t say she didn’t have cancer. She would not have lived forever if she had not had cancer. She was very very old. Only four years from a century. So the fact that she had cancer is not relevant. She died because she was very old and her body succumbed to a disease. The King is not so old and will probably respond to treatment. We don’t need to know exactly what diseases the Queen had when she died. She may have had several. But she was old. Old people die

I'm of the opinion that speculation is pointless, however I don't agree that the cancer is irrelevant. Sure, she was 96, but without the cancer she could have had another 5 or even 10 happy, healthy years. Even at the age of 96, the cancer caused a premature death. Just because someone hits a certain age doesn't mean they don't deserve/shouldn't expect more life.

Inkanta · 07/02/2024 14:56

So many strong firm opinions on the Royal forums. Here people say what they mean and mean what they bloody well say.

mumda · 07/02/2024 14:57

Why would you want to provide more material for his whining?

I’m not saying she didn’t deserve or shouldn’t expect more life, but if, as you say, speculation is pointless, then the fact that she did or didn’t have cancer is irrelevant because she died. Of what we don’t know. As pp have said, she may have had a stroke, not caused by any cancer. She was pictured standing up with Liz Truss two days previously. She appears to have declined rapidly on the actual day she died. It’s unlikely that cancer did that

Just a question to all those who are saying If harry didn't come he'd be accused of not giving caring.

If he was so concerned over his fathers health and did not want to put any further undue pressure on him why did he feel he needed to announce his arrival and flight over?

Harry could have quite easily arranged a private flight with no fanfare in secret like has many times in the past seen his father, then just announce he has visited end off.

But no the pathetic little media grifter had to make a whole fanfare about it.

wildernesssw · 07/02/2024 15:01

And now flying back to the US, it seems!

smilesy · 07/02/2024 15:01

Apparently he’s been seen at Heathrow so he’s on his way back to the US. Presumably that Megan’s that the King is in reasonable shape, otherwise Harry would have stayed longer 🤷‍♀️

TraitorsGate · 07/02/2024 15:02

He's on his way back home now so there's nothing more to report

wildernesssw · 07/02/2024 15:02

Maybe a Zoom chat would have been the way to go after all, it's a lot of air miles for a 45 minute meeting

Means. Not Megan’s 😂

Lockupyourbiscuits · 07/02/2024 15:11

So we had lots of headlines
Maximum coverage of Harry and his concern

30 mins with dad to gather information and express sympathy already done via zoom call

What was the purpose of the trip ?
Surely you would spend a few days if you were concerned

Classic tick box with no purpose
Done ✅

Princessfluffy · 07/02/2024 15:30

Sadly, even in these circumstances, the RF cannot trust that anything they say to Harry won't be splurged into his next tell all book or TV show. So there presumably isn't much that can be said other than perhaps a quick discussion of the weather. Hence the short meeting.

What a waste of time and money. Glad no one gave him the time of day though. You reap what you sow Harold.

hotpotlover · 07/02/2024 15:33

It's normal. It's his dad.

My mother and me fight like cat and dog, but when she broke her leg I immediately flew over to see her.

CreateHope · 07/02/2024 15:36

@smilesy I agree. Where did this rumour start that the queen had cancer? It’s vanishingly unlikely she went from the photo with Truss to dying in two days from cancer. Certainly hasn’t been the pattern with any of the friends and family I’ve lost to cancer.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 07/02/2024 08:09

We’ve all seen the unpleasant, selfish sibling who spends their life moaning about their lot ( that they have created) and putting themselves first
They love a bit of drama - swoop in with a grand gesture do F - all then piss off again
its actually quite sad for elderly parents who are normally pathetically happy to see them while the other siblings do all the work

This resonates with me so much atm as my family is going through something similar

Vespanest · 07/02/2024 15:41

Even if you discuss the weather in a locked room it still gives the opportunity of gossip, some direct, some fed and some completely made up by the media and these royal sources. Harry is learning the hard way that the longer this is left the harder it will continue to get. If this had been prior to Oprah/netflix/spare there would have been a visit to Kate, a catch up with niece, nephews, cousins. Even if there is a truce Harry will never be uncle Harry to William’s children and vice versa.

There's fighting like cat and dog then there's betraying your entire family by selling sensitive, personal info to the highest bidder. He's a backstabbing weasel and deserves to be dismissed and waved on his way so KC can go spend time with loyal, supportive family members who he can trust.

Bet Oprah, Carol King and Netflix are very disappointed in his 45mins.

Janetime · 07/02/2024 15:48

I knew he’d be heading back said so earlier, and with a lot less fanfare than when he arrived . It’s so bloody predictable. It was all for the show. Let everyone know you’re coming in, then try to slink out without notice. It’s abysmal.

Ooh, that won’t stop this being chewed over for years.

35965a · 07/02/2024 16:06

None of the family will trust Harry any more, if he was my brother/cousin/son and he had slagged off my whole family in interviews and a book, I wouldn’t be arsed about seeing him either.

Tail between his legs. What a fool he is.

Can't say I expected the massive eco-hypocrite to stay longer than 24 hours given past form.
