So Harry flew for 11 hours and then spoke to his father for 45 minutes ? Charles then bobbed to Sandringham by helicopter and Harry checked into a hotel. I mean wouldn't you think Harry would have gone to Sandringham with Charles maybe ?

The pair of them are massive attention seekers. It’s all ‘look at me, look at ME’. I do wonder what the cause of that is.

I think the outriders escort was to get him to Charles as quickly as possible because he was booked to fly to Sandringham and ended up delaying his trip to see Harry. If he had not had the police escort it would have taken much longer to get to Clarence House and Charles would either have been waiting for much longer or potentially would have had to leave to get to Sandringham.

After their meeting I think Harry had some security but didn't need a police escort to get him to the hotel/airport faster.

It’s less than 40 minutes on the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow to Green Park.

I keep trying to read Spare, but I find it's all a bit breathless Mills & Boon style.

I couldn’t believe the same person wrote the Agassi biography which was fabulous.

The author can only work with the material he's given, which is supposed to be in the 'voice' of the subject.

Let's just say that Agassi is a very clever guy. Harry, not so much.

MM is extremely smart, savvy & ultra sophisticated

I think if that was the case they’d not make so many errors of judgement. I think arguably she’s far from that. I wish she was though, And I don’t mean that as a criticism, but if she was any of those things she’d not say things evidentially untrue and would at least have some influence over what they do and not have done everything since the exit so very badly.

She's a textbook grandiose narcissist. She genuinely believes she can fool people or make them think the things she wants them to. This leads to the type of crazy decisions like staging a car chase through New York, wearing a ball gown in a grubby cinema in Jamaica and sending her husband to London for 24 hours. It also explains why she was happy to strike up multi-million deals with media giants in exchange for very poorly executed, middling content.

There was some discussion upthread about not diagnosing someone you never met. However there are plenty of public figures you've never met but you simply know from their media footprint that they are "a certain way". Never met Justin Timberlake but convinced he's a sleazy twat. Never met Leonardo DiCaprio but pretty certain he's the same way. Never met Meghan but based on all her actions, pretty certain she displays lots of narcissistic red flags, not least being that there's already a significantly higher proportion of narcs in jobs that require you to be the centre of attention or in front of a camera. Actress and influencer are the two career choices with a huge percentage of narcs and she has done both.

-She's obsessed with high status people and used her wedding to invite everyone she could power network with. She didn't invite a single childhood friend or relative.

-She drops people from her life whenever they are no longer useful to her, including her own father. And her so-called best friend Jessica Mulroney who disappeared entirely from her life.

-She isolated her partner from his family and friends. The RF is highly dysfunctional so it's understandable why Harry might need space, especially from his parent. But it's extremely strange to cut contact with all friends as well. He had lots of trusted mates from his time in London, what happened to them? People who go NC with their family usually value friendships even more and go to extremes to preserve that bond.

-She chose a very personal name for her child which wasn't approved by the Queen but which she knows will bestow "high status and power" on her child later in life. She loves the idea of Lilibet telling people who she was named after, and didn't give a fuck about what the Queen thought about that while she was still alive.

-She consistently leaks info to people like Omid Scobie who is an odious bottom feeding "journalist". The old saying, you can tell a lot about someone by the company they keep applies here.

-She plays the victim card whenever she feels she's losing support or sympathy. Another common tactic of narcs, usually covert narcissistic mothers to turn people's sympathy towards them by creating situations where they are the victim.

However at the end of the day, narcs aren't sociopaths. They can be tremendously fun and generous when they want to. Most narcs have no problems sustaining real friendships and of course those friends will vouch for their charm and authenticity. Meghan probably has a great life in LA and whichever transient group of famous people she wants to associate with right now. Remains to be seen where Harry fits into all this over the coming years.

milveycrohn · 08/02/2024 23:17

@IcedPurple
"You can't have someone representing the monarchy in summer and flogging royal gossip in winter. That's not how it works."
Exactly. Meghan wanted a 'half in half out' role. But we have a constitutional monarchy in this country. (Whether we should have is another argument). Consequently, the monarch and senior royals often represent the state. (State banquets, visiting royals, state visits, etc). So there are rules about not accepting free designer clothes for example. In just the same way that an MP has to declare interests, etc. Remember when the former Prime Minister (Boris Johnson) was criticised for accepting a possible free holiday? WHo paid, etc
Certain wedding presents were not acceptable, such as diamonds from a Middle Eastern country (cant remember which one).
Harry could have left the RF with dignity, and remained on friendly terms with his family. However, that is obviously not what they wanted.

StartupRepair · 09/02/2024 01:11

Harry has appeared in the UK for various court cases without his travel being known. This trip was just ridiculous. I imagine Camilla is being very protective of Charles and would have firmly said ' we need to leave now, thanks so much for coming.'

BreadInCaptivity · 09/02/2024 01:21

It all just smacks of desperation on H's part.

Not love or care for his father.

Things haven't quite panned out as expected have they. Dropped from Netflix and Spotify. Publicly called out as grifters.

The money from Spare isn't going to sustain them for long in respect of the lifestyle they aspire to and being kept at arms length from the RF means their ability to monetise that connection has been eroded to the point of a 12/45 min meeting being relevant.

The pair of them massively overestimated their "market value" outside the RF without the skills and experience to build a reputable and consistently successful brand with content that elevated their status as people in their own right.

Constantly mining their connections simply proves they have little else to offer.

I honestly can't fathom the pair of them and their thinking. They have pissed away so much goodwill and so many opportunities yet continue to feel victimised.

Their inability to consider the consequences of their actions. The fact that lies are easily disproven. The hypocrisy in holding others to (much) higher standards than they expect of themselves.

I can't help thinking that those little chickens so lovingly displayed in their OW interview are coming home to roost.

I genuinely hope for their children's sake that they find a successful niche for themselves in this "LA Celeb" world they want to exist in, because as others have posted the indications are that William will take a much harder line with him that his father has - 12 minutes....with W he probably wouldn't get 12 seconds.

Gottseidank · 09/02/2024 01:47

Harry and Meghan are now catastrophically unpopular away from the echo chambers of the Sussex Squad. Odd for anyone to believe that they are actually liked, or that the RF would benefit in any way from welcoming them back!

Justfinking · 09/02/2024 02:05

People are so obsessed with Harry and Meghan! Almost 800 posts!! 😂

Kinneddar · 09/02/2024 02:12

Harry's visit turned into a farce. From his foundation announcing he was coming to the quick turnaround

Seems he's just made the decision to be seen to travel to his Dads bedside rather than arrange it properly. Clearly with the short visit & the quick return to the US he hasn't consulted Charles or done what he wanted him to do

If Charles has been getting treatment this week he'll be exhausted & I expect the last thing he needed was a visit from Harry considering the drama he always surrounds himself with

He should have waited and come over with a bit more discussion & stayed for days/weeks.

Also says a lot that he flew back so quickly but didn't see any friends or extended family.

It just all smacks very much of being done for the publicity rather than a desire to spend time with his Dad

And before any of the Sussex Squad jumps on me - obviously this is just how I think it looks.

Alternatively people are talking about H&M's increasingly desperate PR spin to monetise their RF connections.

Cause and effect.

H&M have enough wealth to live lifestyle in privacy should they wish. They don't want that. They both court attention.

Fine. But you don't get to dictate the response to that being wholly positive:

pilates · 09/02/2024 05:50

Most normal people would have slipped in to see their father discreetly but not H. His sensationalism turns my stomach. They always seem to make it about him/them.

Wherediditgoto · 09/02/2024 07:07

I see he’s been presenting another award as a Rent a Royal. Whoever their PR person is, their strategy seems to be appear anywhere you can for maximum publicity. All publicity is good publicity.
